Crystal Bowersox’s Friends Looking Forward To ‘American Idol’ Finale
During Wednesday night’s results show, Crystal Bowersox talked about how exciting it is for her to see how her run on “American Idol” has brought some hope to her struggling hometown of Toledo, Ohio. She got emotional when reliving her trip home last week and the joy she saw in the eyes of her northwest Ohio fans. On Thursday (May 20), that pride was peaking after the single mom made it to next week’s finale.
“I feel incredible about her making it all the way, ” said good friend Nate Woodward, who was in the audience for both shows this week in Los Angeles. “I’m not surprised, because I certainly think she has the ability, but it’s still kind of weird. We come from this little town, and to see her do it — even though we know she has the talent — is pretty awe-inspiring.”

Nick Mitchell visits Northeast Animal Shelter
Nick Mitchell, remember him?
You probably remember his alter-ego Norman Gentle from a previous season of American Idol.
The Connecticut native has released his first single. He sang a version of it called “Brit Slap” for British judge Simon Cowell the night he left the show.
The top 25 finalist is donating a portion of song proceeds to animal protection. And on Monday, he was at the Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem, where he filmed some segments for a video toast to Simon.
In the video, Norman includes messages about protecting animals. It’s expected to air on Idol next Tuesday.
Nick Mitchell’s send-off ‘Slap’ to Simon Cowell: It’s a ‘hot mess’
As we near the end of Simon Cowell’s “American Idol” run, we can look forward to plenty of tributes, video packages and even a roast or two. Host Ryan Seacrest told Idol Tracker back in April that he’s been assigned to compile a video send-off for Simon, and, indeed, we saw the two of them trailed by cameras after Tuesday’s performance show, as they walked practically arm-in-arm toward Simon’s two-story dressing room.
And now comes word of another goodbye clip, this one helmed by Season 8 Top 24 contender Nick Mitchell and his alter ego, Norman Gentle, who took to New York’s Times Square (in a flatbed truck, U2-style) for what he describes as “a hot mess” of a video to accompany the song, “Brit Slap” (listen below). He means that in the best way, of course.

The Year’s Top-Earning ‘Idols’
What does this week’s American Idol winner have to look forward to? Far less than in the past.
The pop music market, now saturated with close to 100 of the show’s alums, is showing signs of Idol fatigue. Earnings by some of Idol’s top vocalists have nosedived over the past year. The show that reshaped television and the music business just isn’t minting cash for its stars like it once did.
