If you watched Jamie Foxx and will.i.am’s high-energy “Hot Wings” performance on last week’s “American Idol” results show and thought to yourself, “Where have I seen this before?” you weren’t alone. Naima Adedapo rocked a similar drums-and-dance flavor the week before when she performed “Dancing in the Streets, ” and the newly eliminated singer loved the similarities.

“It was for me! It was like my exit parade, ” joked Adedapo, who made a name for herself with equally colorful production numbers on “Idol.”

Country Star Carrie Underwood Is Going Hollywood…Slightly

“I got a script and I got the book and I got DVDs and all kinds of information about Bethany and her story, which I’d heard of when it happened, but I didn’t know the ins and outs and all that good stuff, ” says Underwood, who was struck by Hamilton’s inspiring comeback and her family’s unshakeable faith after the shark attack. “When I read the script, I definitely wanted to be involved. It’s such an inspirational story. Just to be a part of telling that was enough for me.”

Unlike many pop stars who’ve stepped in front of film cameras, Underwood chose her low-profile supporting role wisefully: it’s neither a too-early, diva-ish star turn (think Mariah Carey in “Glitter”) or a radically de-glammed serious spin (think Mariah Carey in “Precious”).

Dancing With the Stars: What Did Maks Say to Kirstie After the Fall?

When Maks’ thigh gave out during their dance to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow, ” Kirstie hit the floor. She may have been down, but she was anything but out. “It was sweet. He just looked at me and said, ‘Let’s keep dancing, ‘” Kirstie reveals to us. “And I thought, ‘I like that.’ I have the best partner!”

Elsewhere on the “feeling down” wagon was Wendy Williams, whose performance with partner Tony Dovolani to “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life” got a less than stellar score. “All I know is, you guys know how to break it down as far as real dancers. But I, Wendy from Jersey, felt like I did not dance a 15, ” she says. “With everyone getting 20s and above, I just felt, again, we were robbed.”

Here’s some free show-biz advice: If you’re headed over to the BankUnited Center Thursday to audition for The X Factor, dress like a banana. Or wear a python around your neck. Or don’t wear anything at all. Weirdness counts.

“We encourage the eccentric — people who are out there, ” says Simon Cowell, the show’s creator and chief judge. “Somebody asked me the other day, what would we have done on American Idol tryouts if Lady Gaga had walked in three or four years ago with a lobster on her head? I don’t know if she would have gotten through, to be honest.
