Kris Allen’s Song Lost Will Be Featured on “Arrow”

Candice Glover attended the premiere of the Hallmark Movie North Pole last night.

The American Idol season 12 winner has a small singing role in the production. The Hallmark channel tweeted, “Loved hearing @CandiceGlover sing #NorthpoleMovie #Christmas carols at the premiere!”

Jewel, Jana Kramer, RaeLynn play CMT’s Women in Country – Natalie Stovall told a roomful of press and Music Row executives that she kept hearing about how hard it was to get played on country radio. It doesn’t faze her in the least. “The thing is, I don’t care how hard it is,” Stovall said. “We’re going to do it.” Then she performed her song “We Are.” Stovall was one of many female country artists that played CMT’s “Next Women of Country” event Tuesday at City Winery. The lineup, geared to showcase some of country music’s newest female voices, also included RaeLynn, Kelsea Ballerini, Maddie & Tae, Mickey Guyton, Angaleena Presley, Lindsey Ell and Jana Kramer. “I won’t be happy until 25 of the 50 chart positions are women,” said John Esposito, CEO of Warner Music Nashville. – Read more at The Tennessean

Interview: Phillip Phillips wants to be a zombie, and other thoughts before his Tampa Bay show – “I’d love to be a zombie on The Walking Dead,” says the 24-year-old singer, calling from Georgia to promote his Tuesday show at the Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg. “But I’d want to get killed off real quick.” Phillips often watches the AMC show before one of his gigs. TWD often ends right when his rock ‘n’ roll night is starting. “This season has been so dark, but so good.” This desire to be something grotesque and unloved, even for a quick minute, makes a certain sense. – Read more at Tampa

‘Voice’ Runner-Up Jacquie Lee Shares Christina Aguilera’s Advice – Voice runner-up Jacquie Leeis ready to compete in the post-reality show music scene, which is much more cutthroat than any televised talent competition. “My goal was just to get my own music out as fast as possible, because I didn’t want people to see me as a cover artist or a character from a TV show. I have something to say — I write my own music and I’m an actual artist,” she tells The Hollywood Reporter of releasing her EP, Broken Ones, last month, after wrapping the Voice tour with other former competitors and finishing her season behind winner Tessanne Chinin December 2013. To those who brush her off as just another singing-show alum, she laughs, “I’m gonna prove you wrong! I believe that I have something special, and I’m gonna let it show.” – Read more at

Watch Fifth Harmony’s Camila Cabello Confirm Austin Mahone Dating Rumors – How long has it been that we’ve been wondering what’s been going on with Fifth Harmony’s Camila Cabello and Austin Mahone? Well, for the girl who admitted Tuesday they are in fact an item — calling the year-and-a-half she and fellow teen pop star Mahone have known each other a “really long time” — an appropriate answer would at least be a pretty long time.  Cabello confirmed the long-rumored romance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens! Live Monday night when the subject of dating fellow musicians came up and host Andy Cohen seceded to remember something he’d heard about the “Sledgehammer” singers, asking, “Hold on, who’s the Mahonie girlfriend?” – Read more at Billboard

  1. For people interested in these things, The Smoking Gun has Carrie’s New York State Fair rider.

Buzzfeed has a cute listicle on why Brad & Carrie make such great CMA Awards hosts here.

  2. I can’t help it! I love reading riders…why 12 plastic solo cups? how do they decide on 12? why not 20? or 15? or 10? why only 4 mugs? I’m always want to know how they come up with the exact number of soda cans etc.

  3. This may be a test, like the one that another band has, I think it’s Aerosmith. They list these little things that may be insignificant, because they know that if the venue cares enough to get the exact number of cups right, they also cared enough to follow the directions regarding major things that could mean life and death, for example the instructions on the technical aspects for the stage.

  4. The venue can get the rider right, but that doesn’t mean any number of things can’t go wrong with the staging (production).

Looking forward to taping #VeteransDay concert special tomorrow with @USAFBand @KrisAllen @mdoolittle!

  6. I never said that mishaps and unfortunate events can’t happen, I’m not sure how you inferred that. I’m referring to the famous Van Halen rider about no brown M&Ms.

The M&Ms provision was included in Van Halen’s contracts not as an act of caprice, but because it served a practical purpose: to provide an easy way of determining whether the technical specifications of the contract had been thoroughly read (and complied with). As Van Halen lead singer David Lee Roth explained in his autobiography:Van Halen was the first band to take huge productions into tertiary, third-level markets. We’d pull up with nine eighteen-wheeler trucks, full of gear, where the standard was three trucks, max. And there were many, many technical errors — whether it was the girders couldn’t support the weight, or the flooring would sink in, or the doors weren’t big enough to move the gear through.

The contract rider read like a version of the Chinese Yellow Pages because there was so much equipment, and so many human beings to make it function. So just as a little test, in the technical aspect of the rider, it would say “Article 148: There will be fifteen amperage voltage sockets at twenty-foot spaces, evenly, providing nineteen amperes . . .” This kind of thing. And article number 126, in the middle of nowhere, was: “There will be no brown M&M’s in the backstage area, upon pain of forfeiture of the show, with full compensation.”

So, when I would walk backstage, if I saw a brown M&M in that bowl . . . well, line-check the entire production. Guaranteed you’re going to arrive at a technical error. They didn’t read the contract. Guaranteed you’d run into a problem. Sometimes it would threaten to just destroy the whole show. Something like, literally, life-threatening.

  7. @krisallen

#It’s not everyday you er your song played in a TV show and play to an amazing crowd. It’s been a great day. Thanks to everyone.

  8. I hope Camila is prepared to deal with his fans. Girlfriends of the tween fave male pop stars can get a lot of hate thrown their way by the tween/teen fans

  9. “…if I saw a brown M&M in that bowl . . . well, line-check the entire production. Guaranteed you’re going to arrive at a technical error. They didn’t read the contract.”

Hah! I remember that story – brown M&M’s as a litmus test that indicated the reliability of a venue – it was a tricksy idea – and it worked.

Hey loves! I will be co-hosting @TheViewTV today! Tune in to hear me talk migraine management & music & more. :)

  11. I had to watch “Arrow” twice before I caught Kris’s song. It was very faint and in the background when two people were talking. If I wasn’t trying really hard to listen for it, I would have missed it (I missed it the first time watching). It was maybe ten seconds or so. Stlll really great for Kris.
