Howard Stern in Talks with America’s Got Talent (GENIUS CASTING)

The Wall Street Journal reports that radio personality Howard Stern is in talks with America’s Got Talent to take over the judge’s spot left open for Piers Morgan  who quit to concentrate on his CNN talk show.

There were rumors that Stern was in talks to become an American Idol judge after  Paula Abdul quit a few years ago.  He would have been a terrible fit for Idol–his presence would have been too controversial But for America’s Got Talent? GENIUS CASTING. Howard Stern would make the circus that is AGT even bigger.

Stern has the reputation for being nasty. But I’m going to admit right here that I was a regular listener of his show when it was on terrestrial radio. Sure, there were some OTT elements I didn’t care for, like the strippers and p*** stars he’d have on regularly.  And sometimes he took a joke too far. But for the most part I found him intelligent and funny.

According to the Journal, under the deal being discussed,  Stern would earn about $15 million a year to join Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne on the judge’s table.

If he gets the gig, he’ll surprise some folks. And AGT will turn into appointment television for me, finally.
