A Joyous, Musical, Multicultural Wedding – Here, we talked to professional pop singer and former American Idol (season eight) contestant Anoop Desai and his new wife, Anna, an assistant at a private-equity firm. For their two-part wedding this past September, they went big and small: first, an intimate rooftop gathering followed by sage-butter sausage pasta, then the next day a traditional Indian celebration at the Green Building, which kicked off with a full-on serenade by the groom. We wore formalish Indian clothes. I got mine in Bombay, actually, when I was there last March on a work trip. I don’t perform overseas often, but I am often on these international writing trips, writing for Indian pop artists for Universal and Sony. ‘American Idol’ contender’s run at Top 20 started in Alabama – “I’m super excited,” she said on the way to the room designated as the “winner’s circle.” She said she’d previously auditioned for “The Voice” and “America’s Got Talent.” “My hope is to learn and grow through the experience,” she said. Interviewed by phone on Friday, she said she’s gotten her wish. American Idol’s Bobby Bones Talks About Exciting New Projects – “I think every season there’s good talent from people all over the country,” Bones explained. “What’s been great about the show is that they’ve allowed these contestants to just decide on what genre they are and to just go and chase it. There’s no one that’s trying to put a contestant in a box. They’re not looking at any contestant going, ‘Well we should move you over here and you should do rock or country.’ It’s all about who are you and how do we amplify who you are. So I think there are a few contestants, who are really great—and not any better—but just great because they know exactly who they are and they already have mastered their niche.
