‘American Idol’s’ Jason Castro strums his way through Hollywood Heights – After nearly 10 years in the music industry, he moved back to Dallas and settled in Hollywood Heights. Now, Castro is working on his second act as a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Lakewood. “I’d been touring and doing music, but it had become a job,” Castro says. “My wife and I were both ready for a change. It was a very difficult change because my identity was wrapped up in music. It was all I had ever done.” Real estate may seem like an odd choice for someone so artistically inclined, but Castro views the industry as a creative outlet — a creative outlet that actually pays. You’ve gotta work for success, you’ve gotta play the radio shows and in people’s backyards, and ride in a van and go around the country, work your way up and prove yourself. People are 27 years old and have families that go on the show, and the fame happens but the success doesn’t. … Writing “Road Less Traveled” taught me how to be an artist, and how to write songs that make sense for my brand. That five-year period (between albums) where I worked on that, some people from “Idol” missed that, because they’re older and it’s hard to do. You don’t make money in that time. Joey Kramer Blocked From Aerosmith Rehearsal Ahead of Grammys Performance – Following some drama regarding Aerosmith’s upcoming Grammy performance, drummer Joey Kramer has been turned away from attending the band’s rehearsal. Kramer, who played with Aerosmith for 50 years, will not be performing with the rock band, who will be honored at the 2020 MusiCares Person of the Year tribute event and will perform at the Grammys. Kramer launched legal action against his bandmates for not inviting him to play, which was reportedly dismissed by a court judge. “Joey has now waited until the last moment to accept our invitation, when we unfortunately have no time for necessary rehearsals during Grammys week,” the statement continued. “We would be doing a disservice to him, to ourselves and to our fans to have him play without adequate time to prepare and rehearse.” – Read more at Billboard.com

‘American Idol’ Producer Fremantle Looks To Reduce Global Environmental Footprint – Aiming to reduce its waste and emissions, London-based “Idol” producer-distributor Fremantle has formed a partnership with Albert, a collaborative industry-backed project aimed at tackling the environmental impact of the entertainment sector. Founded in 2011, Albert is governed by an industry consortium that includes BAFTA, independent companies and broadcasters. Fremantle is working with Albert to develop a version of Albert’s carbon calculator, which tracks emissions caused by productions, for use by global businesses and production houses. The companies hope to use Fremantle’s global scale and Albert’s industry clout to provide the international production community the opportunity to accurately track their carbon emissions. – Read more at Variety.com
