Melanie runs through each song, explaining in the concept of the album, which tells the story of a character, “Cry Baby,” which is partly her, part fictional creation. “In the story of the album there’s some things that I didn’t experience. I love stories and fairytales, so I wanted it to still feel super whimsical, or else it wasn’t fun for me. I look at music like I look at art; it’s like painting a picture. If I had a strong visual behind the song, I knew that I was going to use it. It was about the whole package.”
More performers announced for Sunday’s Teen Choice Awards – Flo Rida is set to perform his hit, “I Don’t Like It, I Love It,” with a special appearance from Robin Thicke on the Teen Choice 2015 stage when the special airs live Sunday, Aug. 16 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. In addition, Rachel Platten will perform her summer hit, “Fight Song.” Also, Emma Roberts, Lea Michele and Keke Palmer, stars of FOX’s new series, series Scream Queens, are scheduled to appear along with NBA star Stephen Curry, Nina Dobrev (“The Vampire Diaries”), Janel Parrish (“Pretty Little Liars”), Lucy Hale (“Pretty Little Liars”), Skylar Astin (“Pitch Perfect”), BROOKLYN NINE-NINE’s Terry Crews, Rita Ora, Grandfathered star John Stamos, Minority Report’s Wilmer Valderrama, Tyrese Gibson (“Furious 7”) and Jordana Brewster (“Furious 7”).
Gloria Gaynor and Melinda Doolittle Collaborate – Disco legend, Gloria Gaynor is recording a new album in Nashville, American Idol season 6 alum, Melinda Doolittle is one of her collaborators. The new project, will feature a collection of Christian songs with “positive energy and an uplifting spirit.” Read more at Music Row
Meet Postmodern Jukebox, YouTube Idols – Yahoo music piece on Postmodern Jukebox confirms the retro jazz band will be collaborating with American Idol 14 alum, Joey Cook. Scott Bradlee is annoyed by singing shows that don’t give his band credit when they use his arrangements. “Joey was actually the first one to give us credit; she was responsible for our first prime-time television shoutout. That was such a flattering thing, and even kind of unnecessary, because her arrangement of ‘Fancy’ was much different from ours. For my reasons, I chose to save Neptune from Street and Alexia from Stage. I know Derek has a huge following on Twitter and Instagram, and Alexia does not, so I just wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt and help her out. I felt that Alexia had a lot more to share, and I felt that Kate and Derek had been getting the same notes over and over again.
