Glee Spin Off Rumor, Lea Michele Dedicates Song To Cory Monteith

The ever-reliable *cough* Radaronline is reporting that Lea Michele’s character, Rachel Berry, will be spun off of Glee to her own show.

“This will be announced soon,” an insider close to the situation revealed.

“They’re making the deals now and it also presents a viable exit plan for the main Glee series itself — in that some of its core cast would also migrate to the Lea Michele project as Glee is showing signs of aging.”

Of course, E News had to jump all over that. THEIR sources report there is no spinoff on the horizon, “There is Glee and Glee only,” a source reportedly told them.

Of course, this is the news outlet that recently claimed one of Glee’s upcoming story lines would send Kurt (Chris Colfer) to Russia–about which, Glee star Darren Criss told a reporter at a red carpet event last night, was “total BS.”

So who to believe? This could just be a reworking of the TV Line rumor that has  Glee moving all the action to New York City, ditching the Lima storylines. It would be like a brand new show in that case. But it would still end in the spring of 2015.

Here’s the thing. As much as I would personally love a New York City version of Glee, I find it hard  to believe FOX would greenlight a spinoff from a show that hasn’t been on top of the Nielsen heap in over two years.  And as much as I’d love to see Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Naya Rivera continue in their roles past season 6, they are all probably ready, after devoting over 6 years of their lives to the show, to leave the world of high school choirs for greener pastures.

Considering Radar is on the bottom heap of gossip rags, their “sources” could be a guy who drives actors around on a Paramount golf cart. I’m just going to use common sense here. I really didn’t need E News debunking that particular rumor for me.

In other Glee news, Lea Michele told Elle that she recorded a last minute song for her forthcoming album that is dedicated to her late boyfriend, Cory Monteith.

“It makes me so happy, this song,” Lea said of the tune titled, “You’re Mine.”

“It makes me think so much of Cory. It was ours. When I think if him, I play this.”
