In between throwing massive shade at her former employer, American Idol, Mariah Carey has been lining up some gigs! The diva will not only be appearing in her own reality show for the E! cable network, but she’ll also be guest starring on the massive hit FOX show, Empire.

Superstar Mariah Carey – the best-selling female recording artist of all time – will guest-star and perform on FOX’s hit, EMPIRE. Carey will play Kitty, a mega-superstar who comes to Empire to collaborate with Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) on an explosive new song. When the duet encounters obstacles, Kitty helps Jamal dig deep to overcome personal difficulties and reach a musical breakthrough. Carey’s appearance airs Wednesday, Oct. 5 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
Season Three of EMPIRE premieres Wednesday, Sept. 21 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Additional guest stars this season include Taye Diggs, Sierra McClain, rapper French Montana and music mogul Birdman, who plays himself.
Carey is about to begin the second half of her critically acclaimed Las Vegas residency, “Mariah #1 to Infinity,” which starts at Caesars Palace later this month. She then heads to Latin America this fall with her “Sweet Sweet Fantasy” tour, to thrill her fans in Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Mexico.
Will Empire, created by created by Academy Award nominee Lee Daniels and Danny Strong continue as the highest rated scripted network television show during it’s upcoming 3rd season? The series stars Terrence Howard as Empire patriarch Lucious Lyon and Taraji P. Henson as his ex-wife Cookie.
