American Idol season 3 winner, Fantasia, joined Sting, Christina Aguilera, Bernadette Peters, Billy Porter, Sutton Foster and more for a special honoring the 100th birthday of Frank Sinatra, airing now on your local PBS station.
Seth MacFarlane both hosted and performed at the event, which was part of the PBS Live at Lincoln Center series. Frank Sinatra: Voice for a Century also featured the New York City Philharmonic.
The Grammy special, Sinatra 100, which aired recently, invited contemporary singers to take on the standards, while the PBS special featured mostly singers from the Broadway and classical side of the spectrum. Fantasia could have starred in either special. She’s a contemporary singer who has the ability to channel the great jazz and blues singers such as Ella Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington and Billie Holliday.
Watch Fantasia perform, “Sunny Side of the Street,” a song from her recent Broadway review, After Midnight.
The singer also performed “Learning the Blues.” She’s something else!
