Lifetime television aired the Billboard Women in Music Awards, filmed at a recent luncheon in New York City. Two of our favorite reality show stars, Fifth Harmony, the girl group put together to compete during X Factor USA season 2 and Tori Kelly, American Idol season 9 Hollywood contestant were feted at the event.
Tori was introduced by Empire’s Jussie Smollett as Women of the Year Breakthrough Artist. After speaking to the crowd about her most amazing year, which included a Best New Artist Grammy nomination, the singer let loose with one of her amazing acoustic performances. Tori had the crowd mesmerized with a stripped down version of her latest single “Hollow.”
Before Fifth Harmony was awarded Group of the Year, they sang an acoustic medley of girl power hits, beginning with a ballady version of their own hit tune, “Worth It.” Destiny’s Child’s “Independent Woman,” and “We Are Family” by Sister Sledge were also part of the mix.
Lady Gaga was Billboard’s Woman of the Year.
