  1. Elliott remains one of the most genuine contestants we’ve ever seen on Idol (and one of the best voices)! Kudos to him for keeping his promise and visiting Angola once again. I know Idol Gives Back is a little over the top, I’m not a fan normally of celebrities patting themselves on the back for being charitable. But videos like this definitely can give some hope in a world that desperately needs it.

  2. Very nice video. Elliott seems really, really excited to be back in Angola. I hope more than a few seconds of this makes it to IGB.

Elliott’s been showing up lately at R&B nights at the Key Club in LA joining in with some legendary R&B folks. He’s also writing and recording new music for an EP. Hopefully, he’s 100% back into focusing on his career after the disappointment of the second album.

  3. Kudos for Elliott for going back in Angola and Kara for joining.

    He’s a great guy!!

Lots of guys like him (+ a lot of people we don’t see but are there) = progress

  4. Hopefully, he’s 100% back into focusing on his career after the disappointment of the second album.

Hope so. … But, honestly, an indie-label soul-ish pop album by a regular-looking white guy 30-plus in age is probably not going to do very well, no matter how great it might be. He’s a great artist in that genre, in my opinion. But I think that he’s looking at a lifetime of playing small clubs and charity events and such — not that there’s anything wrong with that! (I wish he could get a wider audience for his music, though! The second album was very good, I thought — glad that he at least got to sing a little bit from it in this video, lol.)

Anyway, love love love his enthusiasm for people and his beautiful, determined attitude about persisting in the charity and advocacy projects he’s taken on since the show. Elliott, whether or not you ever again have a song on the radio (aside from Wait for You, which got high enough on the charts so that it will never die!) you are the greatest.

  5. That was very sweet and kudos to Elliot for all the things he does for charity. I’m glad he was able to return there with IGB this year.

That was very cool that they knew his song and sang along to it. Kara seems surprised and impressed by the welcome he got from his friends there.

  6. Genuine is a good description of Elliott. It comes thru in his music and his life. So happy to see him in Angola again with his friends.

  7. Elliot’s second cd was really better than his first. He tried hard, but the radio is a hard place to crack now that it is all so corporate. Instead we get to hear crap music from the Miley Cs of the world along with the Fetus, Ludacris, Rhianna, etc…..

  8. When did they go? I remember it was right before the Chile earthquake, right? But how did Kara find time off the show…? Confused.

  9. I wonder if Elliot got to meet the little boy who was named after him when he was there the last time? That would have been a cool moment for the IGB camera’s so, probably not, if it wasn’t in the film. Still, great that he was welcomed back so warmly, and that there is evidence of improvement in the second floor of the school. These charities really do do good work.

  10. Unlike most actors that do these charity events Elliot was very genuine and you could tell he wasn’t smiling and interacting with the people just for the cameras like some do.

I wish nothing but the best for Elliot.

  11. Elliott has such a genuine heart about him. He really cares about people and wants to help them. I wish nothing but the best for him.

Kara is only working the show a few hours on Tuesday and Wednesday. She does other things on her off days and hours. Just like Ryan, Simon, Randy, and Ellen. THese IGB trips are very short trips, usually they’re there for a day. It’s not like Kris’ trip to Rwanda. More like the trip to Haiti.

I believe they went on a weekend. Someone had posted Elliot’s tweets here about going.

  13. Elliott went straight from Africa, to Chile. He particapated in a famous music festival there. He was in the earthquake, and got stuck in Chile, and it was really a scary experience. He finally got the insulin he needed, to survive his stay there. He was very helpful, with CNN, and other big news affliates, and was interviewed many times. The airport was in very poor condition, and took a while to make the tarmac safe, as well has the terminals.
Elliott’s voice is very unique, and he really sings from is heart. He has many songs, on his album, that could be hits, if they were ever played on the radio, enough times. God, I only wished, because of the crapolla music, they shove down our throats!

    ITA!

So true – 100 times better! I was so frustrated that radio wouldn’t give him a chance. There are some great tracks on his second cd – many that are radio friendly. I love hearing him on the radio so maybe someday radio will again be friendly to the indie artists. The suits at Clear Channel wouldn’t even let his hometown station play his music – a**hats.

  15. Elliott is truly in his element doing this kind of work. He’s such an amazing person. I hope the coverage on Idol is significant, for the sake of the people in Angola.

  16. Love the video, love Elliott. Like his momma said, “He’s a Good Soul”.

  17. There is only “One Word” to describe how I feel about Elliott’s generosity – “AMAZING!”
