Ellen Degeneres Show Promotes tWitch to Executive Producer

Ellen DeGeneres resident DJ Stephen “tWitch” Boss has been named a co-executive producer at the daytime talk show.

The talk show host announced the news during an address to her staff today, in which she addressed months of reports of a toxic work environment, sexual harassment and racism.

Inside sources told Variety that Ellen expressed a desire to “come back strong” in the upcoming 18th season of her syndicated talk show franchise. tWitch, Ellen said has been helpful regarding the show’s renewed commitment to diversity. The new position will give him more influence in both programming and the working culture, one insider said.

BuzzFeed broke the news of a toxic workplace at Ellen. The report included charges of racism, sexual misconduct and abuse. According to Variety’s sources, Ellen said on Monday’s call that the reports left her “heartbroken.”  Ellen also announced that three top producers who had been accused of sexual misconduct were fired.

The show fired executive producers Ed Glavin and Kevin Leman and co-executive producer Jonathan Norman following damning allegations raised in recent reports by Buzzfeed and Variety. “Ellen” veterans Mary Connelly, Andy Lassner and Derek Westervelt will remain at the show as executive producers alongside Ellen. tWitch is a So You Think You Can Dance alum and recently sat at the judges table for a round of World of Dance. He has also appears on the game show Ellen’s Game of Games alongside Ellen. He also hosts the series Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings with wife and So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing with the Stars alum Allison Holker for Disney Plus.
