Oddly, Ellen Degeneres chatted with Jax on her daytime talk show on Thursday (Feb 11) and NEVER mentioned the one big thing they have in common–that they both appeared on American Idol.
Ellen sat on the judges panel with Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi during season 9, while Jax finished in third place during season 14. Ellen treated Jax like a Tik Tok star who went viral and subsequently landed a record deal with Atlantic records. JAX shared how she’s been trying to get on Ellen’s show for years. The example Ellen used was a video the singer-songwriter sent in at 11 years old!
Ellen never mentions American Idol during the interview!
Surely, Ellen first heard of JAX while she competed on American Idol. But she acted like Jax just fell off a turnip truck earlier this year when her humorous Tik Tok videos went viral.
Producers meet with guests before their interviews to put together talking points. It’s likely Jax asked the show not to bring up American Idol as part of her history. After being rudely ejected from season 15, JAX seemed to have a chip on her shoulder about the show. It appears that she’s the type of gal to hold a grudge!
Anyway, JAX explains how her Tik Tok account didn’t blow up until she began posting song parodies. Her first big video was a parody of the pop song “Stacy’s Mom” from the mom’s point of you. Her vids hardly garnered any views. But suddenly, overnight, she had over one million views. She began posting more funny videos that also earned huge views. Some of the songs are parodies, others are fun original songs.
New music is coming
And it was a song called “Ring Pop” that got Atlantic’s attention. It’s her first release for the major record label. New music is coming soon–Jax reveals that she’s got an entire album full of songs ready to release.
