American Idol Alum JAX Signs Deal with Atlantic Records (

Congratulations to singer-songwriter JAX. The American Idol season 14 3rd place finisher has signed a record deal with Atlantic records.

The singer announced the news in a TikTok video. Which, as it turns out, is the social media platform that led to her big signing. For more, check out her TikTok page @JaxWritesSongs, which is full of clever ditties, and serious, poignant songs as well. Currently, she has almost 1 million followers.

Atlantic Records confirmed the news by posting Jax’s announcement on the label’s Facebook page.

JAX sets her announcement to song:

So last year when 2020 went wrong
I started posting TikToks of original songs
I’m in a one bedroom & I can’t afford cable
and now because of YOU GUYS, I got noticed by a label
Honestly this doesn’t feel real
But I signed a record deal

Her family joins her–mom, dad, younger brother–as she signs a bunch of papers. JAX writes alongside the post, “I can’t believe I’m saying this…but I signed a record deal with @atlanticrecords . YOU GUYS made this happen.”

TikTok is basically the new Youtube. Singing shows like American Idol, The Voice and America’s Got Talent have added the popular musical video platform to the list of places to scout tomorrow’s singing stars.

An American Season 14 fan favorite

New Jersey native JAX aka Jackie Miskanic became an American Idol season 14 fan favorite and front runner based on her  quirky singer-songwriter style. However, she took 3rd place behind runner-up Clark Beckham and winner Nick Fradiani, despite thrilling fans with performances of Cher’s “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down), a slowed up version of The Beatles “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” and Kelly Clarkson’s “Beautiful Disaster.”

After the season finished, mentor Scott Borchetta only signed the winner to Big Machine Records. JAX went on to release independent music such as the American Idol dissing track, “La La Land.”  She also performed a moving original song, “Somebody’s Kid,” dedicated to her brother for the 2018 White House 4th of July special.

In August 2016, JAX revealed that she was battling thyroid cancer, but recovered after treatment.

Atlantic has signed a slew of singing reality stars

Alongside JAX on the Atlantic roster are: American Idol season 16 alum Catie Turner, season 7 Christian artist Colton Dixon, and OG Idol winner, The Voice coach and talk show host Kelly Clarkson. Other reality stars signed to Atlantic include former X Factor USA contestant and Fifth Harmony member Ally Brooke, The Voice season 14 winner Brynn Cartelli, season 2 alum Melanie Martinez, and the boy band Why Don’t We which features JAX’s fellow season 14 finalist Daniel Seavey.
