Dancing With the Stars – THE FINAL!

Tonight was the very first time I ever voted for a Dancing with the Stars contestant, an I voted for Kyle and Lacey.

DANCE CAPTAIN: Ben's Hardest Ch...
DANCE CAPTAIN: Ben's Hardest Choreography Yet with ANASTASIA

The overscoring for Bristol tonight was just ridiculous.  Kyle works his ass off to improve his Foxtrot, and Bristol minces around the stage for a few minutes in a routine that was so obviously dumbed down?  And they receive the same score?  That’s totally insane.

I think there is a very real possibility that Bristol will win this thing, even with a season full of atrocious dancing. She HASN’T improved all season. There were a couple of times she didn’t look like complete crap on the dance floor. But improve steadily week by week? I don’t so.

Tonight’s final was pretty boring. A showdown between Brandy and Jennifer would have been hella more exciting than Jennifer dancing rings around everybody.  Still, what Kyle lacked in dance ability (he’s still waaayyy better than Bristol) he makes up for in entertainment value. That’s why I voted for him.  Hopefully, there are more viewers like me who picked the phone up tonight for the first time to vote for Anybody But Bristol.  I’m not keeping my hopes up.

Videos and Live blog after the JUMP…

Three couples vie for the Dancing With The Stars crappy mirror ball trophy! Jennifer and Derek, Kyle and Lacey and Bristol and Mark compete tonight.

Tonight: Redemption dances (a chance to do-over routines) and Freestyle

Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer – Foxtrot – “Feeling Good” – The pair did some horrible disco thing the last time. Now, they are trying to improve. Len drops by to help out. This time out they stick to a traditional routine. Kyle is a little heavy footed. But, Kyle has not made the finals because he’s a great dancer.  There’s a freestyle section that allows Kyle to show his personality.  The judges should like this. Len says, “You come out so much better than that first. Overall, you’ve gone from messy massey to marvelous.” Bruno says,   “Your technique has improved enormously. When you have to deliver you still give it.” Carrie Ann says, “I felt for the first half you were too focused on the footwork.” Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 9, Bruno – 9  – 271-800-868-3403 – VIDEO

About the voting? If you don’t vote don’t complain, says Tom.

The Skating With The Stars host is in the audience. That show looks like a HOT MESS.

Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas – Jive – Bristol will re-dance the Jive–the dance where she performed in a monkey outfit. That’s the week she should have been voted off. Bruno drops by to give some tips on the jive. Wow. This dance has about 3 steps in it. Could it be dumbed down any more? She still sucks. Mark definitely doing all the heavy lifting. Sarah is in the audience again. Bruno says, “I got something out of you, didn’t I? You revealed yourself, we enjoyed it.” Carrie Ann says, “You never cease to amaze me. You were brighter and more vibrant than ever.” Len says, “Last time you were a gorilla, now you are a thrilla. Vast improvement, well done.” Carrie Ann – 9, Len – 9, Bruno – 9 – 271-800-868-3407 – VIDEOScores

Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough – Paso Doble – “Carmen” -The paso was totally out of control the last time. Now Carrie Ann stops by to refine Jennifer’s technique. This is much better than last time. More controlled, Good technique. I bet they get another perfect score. Carrie Ann says, “This is the meaning of redemption! It’s all there!” Len says, “There was a lovely mix of expression and aggression. It was fantastic.” Len gives a standing o. Bruno says, “It was an evening in sultry Seville. I don’t want this night ever to end!” Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 10, Bruno – 10 – 301-800-868-3411 – VIDEO

Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer – Freestyle – “Tootsie Roll” – Kyle starts on top of the judges table, jumps off. Not a lot of great dancing going on there, but a lot of fun to watch. Len says, Len says, “This was great fun, great entertainment and I thoroughly enjoyed it.” Bruno says, “Truly explosive entertainment and charisma.” Carrie Ann says, “This old fly girl is proud of you. The fresh prince of dancing!” – Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 9, Bruno – 10 – 56 – VIDEO

Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas – Freestyle – Bristol has never heard of the Broadway musical “Chicago”. Why am I not surprised? Wrapping and unwrapping each other in ribbon is considered dancing? That was pretty lame. Bruno says, “I have to give you credit for ending so high. You did very well, but not quite at the level this song requires.” Carrie Ann says, “Did I just see Bristol dancing in a cage? I give you a lot of credit for that. It’s a very ambitious dance, but I’m very proud of you.” Len says, “I just looked at this as a performance. That was no disaster. That was fantastic.” Carrie Ann – 8, Len 9 Bruno – 8 – 25 – 52 – VIDEO

Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough – Freestyle – “Do You Love Me” She’s afraid to fill the dance with flips and tricks because of her neck. The song! From Dirty Dancing of course. LMAO. They jump on the judges table for a bit. Despite her reticence, the routine if full of lifts, flips and jumps. They are getting a standing o. Carrie Ann says, “It was amazing, perfect.” Len says, “You’ve been consistent, persistent, fantastic.” Bruno says, “You are great dancer, two dances at the opposite end of the spectrum, both of them brilliant.” Carrie Ann – 10, Len – 10, Bruno – 10 – 30 – 60 She says she didn’t want to dance “Time of My Life” because is was her dance with Patrick. – VIDEOScores

The dancers will dance twice more tomorrow night on the finale for judges scores.

  1. I loled at Please Dont Shoot Your TV XD
So, my absolute favorite is derek (more on him later), but I also have always LOVED Kyle and Bristol seems nice and she’s a great dancer
So, no, I dont care who wins, honestly..

BUT OMGGGGGGGGGGGGG DEREK HE IS SHOWING OFF HIS ABS THIS WEEK HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHITTTTT excuse me while i go DIE XD :p

  2. They did feeling good!!! :)
Awww Britol crying is breaking my heart…:(
This is my 1st season watching DWTS and its like rrly good :)

(sorry ill stop post ho-ing now lol) :)

  3. The only 2 times Bristol got high marks were when her mother was in the audience. Sarah is in the audience tonight.

  4. Well I guess the fix is in with Jennifer in the pimp spot.

I think both Kyle and Bristol did well and were a lot of fun. Bristol looks extremely pretty tonight.

  5. a 27 are you fricken kidding me no way, they want her to win. No way does she deserve the same score as Kyle, idiots.

  6. Bristol’s footwork is terrible…the judges really need to call her out on it. It’s really their fault she is still there. If they would quit over scoring her she would have been gone weeks ago. I dont hate her like I do her mother but her dancing is not good at all. TO say her dance was worth 9’s is just ridiculous.

  7. Was that Omarosa in the audience after Kyle and Lacey’s dance?? WTF? lol.

    ETA:

a 27 are you fricken kidding me no way, they want her to win. No way does she deserve the same score as Kyle, idiots.

I think it’s probably more likely that she’s killing in the votes and they know there’s no way she’s NOT going to win, so they might as well at least try to finish SOME kind of story arc of redemption.

  8. Don’t get me wrong in that I don’t care that Bristol is there because really, this is DWTS. In the scheme of things, it means nothing. That said, the only part that annoys me is that the judges continue to massively overscore Bristol on dumbed down choreography. Most of her jive consisted of her making faces, shimmying with her shoulders and Mark jumping around. Heck, her toes weren’t even pointed. If it were any other celeb pulling off routines like that in the finals the judges would be going on and on about how they weren’t worthy to be there and etc. If Kyle did a jive like that he’s probably be getting 5’s.

  9. It doesn’t matter what the judges do one way or another. Bristol would have still been in the final simply because of her mother.

  10. What’s not to like about Jennifer? She was fantastic.

    Her attitude.

  11. I get that Bristol would have likely made the finals either way Hermetically. My point is that while there obviously still would have been backlash, I think it would be more palatable to some fans of the show if they felt she were being judged in the same universe as the others. It’s just odd, and I’m not trying to make this into a political debate, that I’ve never seen the judges so blatantly gloss over a celeb’s non dancing ability before.

  12. I haven’t been watching most of the season and after watching tonight I’m happy about that. I saw Kyle dance very well and get 27 and then Bristol get the same score for what? She was barely moving and try as he might, even Mark’s choreography couldn’t hide her lack of skill. Too bad the judges have lost their minds. Yikes.

Jennifer is by far the best dancer but can’t make myself vote for Derek so Kyle it is. Already got my votes in.

  13. What’s not to like about Jennifer? She was fantastic.

    Her attitude.

Jennifer does not have a poor attitude at all…I think she is inspiring…she is 50 years old…geez. And she is the best dancer hands down. I would take her so called attude over Bristol being delusional…she actually thinks she deserves to be there…whatever.

  14. Don’t get me wrong. I think the judges should treat her no different. I have never liked when certain contestants get coddled while others get raked over the coals.

  15. Bristol was good :)
    DEREK HAS HOT ABSSSSSS :D

AND OMFAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA KYLE MASSEY THAT WAS UNBELIEVABLE I FLOVED THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

  16. that was hot mess freestyle yuck Mark didn’t choreograph a great freestyle a trainwreck

  17. That said, the only part that annoys me is that the judges continue to massively overscore Bristol on dumbed down choreography. Most of her jive consisted of her making faces, shimmying with her shoulders and Mark jumping around. Heck, her toes weren’t even pointed.

THIS. It’s unfair to Kyle, who obviously worked hard to improve his foxtrot and actually DID a proper foxtrot, to score him the same as Bristol who does the same three steps in every piece. Just like it was unfair to Brandy. Bristol must really be raking in the votes to be propping her so blatantly. I haven’t seen judging this WTF since Helio. I did laugh at Bruno pulling a face when he gave Bristol a 9. I swear it was a “they’re making me do this” face.

Holy shit, did Len just score Bristol and Kyle the same again? Kyle can actually dance, you know, to the music. Somewhere, Maks is watching this fiasco and flipping the producers the bird.

  18. Bristol was not good! What the hell? Three 9’s. I must have entered the Twilight Zone.

  19. I would be totally onboard with Bristol if she gave us a freestyle as delightfully horrible as the Dreaded Doll Dance of Marie Osmond. But no, boring until the end.

Also if Mark was choreographing a Chicago/Fosse style dance, shouldn’t Bristol have taken the time to ya know, YouTube Chicago.

  20. I didn’t think Jennifer’s dance was all that great. Mostly Derek holding her and twirling. I think Kyle had the best Freestyle out of the 3. I think Bristol did much better then I thought she would in the Freestyle. Again Kyle and Lacey were the best in the freestyle. IMHO

  21. I’m shocked!! Shock I tell you that they went with a Dirty Dancing song!

    *groan*

  22. None of those freestyles came anywhere near as good/memorable as some in past seasons.

  23. Quelle Shock they danced to a Dirty Dancing song, and Derek of course hammed it up as usual, ugh. Obvious who the producers want to win.

  24. Dear Judges,

Bristol murdered my memories of THIS. Which Mark was attempting to rip off. 5, at best. You’re killing me here. I’m crying that you didn’t rip that to shreds. Que horror!
    Love,
    A Perplexed Viewer

    P.S. Boogaloo dancing? Really Len?
P.S.S. How hard is it to dance in a cage? How many times are you gonna give her props for pretending to be sexy?
    P.S.S.S. Yeah, still confused.
    P.S.S.S.S. I Miss Brandy And Maks. >:-(

  25. IMHO

I agree. Didn’t Jennifer dance to the Mashed Potato in Dirty Dancing?

  26. Puke a 30 are you fricken kidding me that freestyle was not that good. And another Patrick reference, I so don’t want her to win.

  27. Jennifer (“Baby”) didnt dance to that song but she was part of a scene where Patrick Swayze danced to it with his partner in the movie. IT was a pretty well known scene. STFU with the Patrick references ugh. And the dance wasnt THAT good. Drew and Apolo’s freestyles kicked all their asses bleh.

  28. Yeah, I was pretty underwhelmed by Jennifer & Derek’s freestyle. Loved Kyle and Lacey’s. It wasn’t perfect, but it was definitely cute and definitely Kyle.

No comment on Bristol. That she doesn’t know anything about “Chicago” makes her ineligible for comment from me.

I don’t think that a freestyle has necessarily WON the competition for anyone, but it’s certainly played a part in losing it for a few people.

  29. Kind of a dull finale all in all. I think the show misses Brandy. I’m slightly hoping Bristol wins. Obviously she’s the worst of the three dancers left so it would the show a trainwreck aspect. ;)

  30. Bristol and Mark’s second “dance” was a total diaster, and why she got higher than a 5 is beyond me. Actually, the dances last week were stronger.

Wrapping and unwrapping each other in ribbon is considered dancing?

What MJ, you have never heard of this dance? It is very popular during the holidays. In 11 seasons, that is the worse Finale dance ever presented on this show!

Kyle and Lacey were fun! Jennifer and Derek danced like champions.

  31. I guess I’ll actually get off my ass to vote for Kyle, the only one who wasn’t overscored. Also? Derek trying to be sexy is gross. I could live without another gesture to his package.

  32. snarky:

Puke a 30 are you fricken kidding me that freestyle was not that good. And another Patrick reference, I so don’t want her to win.

I am so with you. The desperate Patrick Reference did it for me. I thought she wised up and gave up using it for votes but obviously she is uncouth. I say Kyle FTW.

  33. Hey, I’m a “lib” and I’m rooting for Bristol. I think her win would be a hilarious finish to the season. Going off to vote right now…

  34. BOOGALOO FTW XD!!!!

My FAVE is still derek, dont care about jennifer
My favorite like contestant is KYLE-his freestyle was l;ike the best dance of the season for me. Plus, what he said to Bristol about the media was nice. And I grew up watching him on TV XD So yeah, I <3 Kyle :) I heard he lost 18 lbs doing this
LOL lollipop-Bristol seems nice, and I feel bad for the media pressure on her. She's a great dancer, and DEFINETELY deserves to be here IMHO (maybe not more than brandy tho), but isnt as good as the other 2 couples

Is it just me? I hope so…the dancing with the stars website wont let me log in and vote..I've never had that problem before…? I’m just going to vote by phone

  35. I had the hardest time watching the show tonight….what a joke! Bristol
whining tonight about everyone *out to get* her….the bad, bad media..etc..(must be in the genes!!)… well, she is going to show us! Yeah, right….she in no way should be in this competition.
It would have been such a great finale if Brandy was still in and having a showdown with Jennifer.*sigh*

  36. I can’t vote on-line either, and Derek’s lines have been busy. I don’t have one vote in yet!

  37. Well, I got my votes in for Kyle by phone. I really liked Lacey when she was a SYTYCD, and wouldn’t mind if they won. Jennifer and Derek did a good job, so I wouldn’t mind if they won.

The producers need to decide if they will ever go this route again. They need to decide if they want celebrities and stars only on the show.

The judges need to decide if they will vote with their heart or do what the producers tell them to do. This was a bad season for judging, IMO.

  38. I don’t see why folks are down on Bristol for not knowing “Chicago” at her age. She was 11 or maybe 12 when the film was out which is the last time it would’ve been in anyone’s consciousness. Bristol didn’t move as badly as the buzz lead me to believe.

Kyle’s freestyle wasn’t good IMO. His first dance wasn’t bad.

Jennifer is already a “pro” so, in a sense, she’s a ringer. I didn’t think she was that good on the second dance. Demerits for the Gokey strategy of pimping the dead for votes.

I’m just glad the killer Brandy was eliminated before the final.

This is what I’ve been saying. How can the judges justify giving the excellent performances 10’s and give Bristol 9s!?

  40. Best for me tonight was Kyle and Lacey my votes went to them, hopefully Bristol goes out 3rd.

  41. Demerits for the Gokey strategy of pimping the dead for votes.

Funny and not so funny. I didn’t see anything but Jennifer’s second dance, which, frankly, I was disappointed it. I didn’t think it was perfect at all, but I sure admired her for whipping around like she did with a bum neck. Some of that routine looked like it smarted – a lot.

  42. Dial Idol is showing Jennifer & Derek in first place and in the ‘green’ zone, lol. Although a prediction, DI is usually right. I do not watch DWTS so therefore I do not vote. Well, tonight I made sure to vote, for the dancers whom deserve to win and not some pesky (being nice here) politician’s daughter who should’ve gone home since the season started. I voted for Jennifer & Derek. ;-)

  43. It wouldn’t matter if Bristol tripped over her own feet and fell. The judges would still overscore her. She will win and this will be the last time I ever watch DWTS.

I don’t see why folks are down on Bristol for not knowing “Chicago” at her age. She was 11 or maybe 12 when the film was out which is the last time it would’ve been in anyone’s consciousness.

It’s called culture. When I was her age my favorite dance piece was the Rich Man’s Frug, and that was from a movie that predated my birth. The cell block tango is iconic. Look it up at least, Bristol. Bristol’s dance was so bad it was a mockery of the original.

  45. She will win and this will be the last time I ever watch DWTS.

To quote Derek Hough who said, that’s what everyone always says, but they will continue to watch.

The positive side of Bristol winning – it will give Mark Ballas 3 wins.

  46. Hey, I’m a “lib” and I’m rooting for Bristol. I think her win would be a hilarious finish to the season. Going off to vote right now…

LOL jpfan. I’m a lib too, and Bristol just doesn’t bug me. I’m not voting though :). I’m just not outraged at her continuing in the competition, because I think to myself, “is Bristol really a worse dancer than Jerry Rice?”. In my head, I answer “no”. So, I can’t be mad at her.

I also can’t look for fairness and scoring integrity in a show that pits olympic athletes against octogenarians.

I haven’t watched the entire season, but I actually thought tonight was fun. I’m still not voting though, because Jennifer is my favorite, and I can’t bring myself to vote for Derek. Just ew.

ETA: I should point out that the entire Palin family creeps me out on numerous levels, but I’m just not bothered by Bristol’s presence here.

  47. I don’t see why folks are down on Bristol for not knowing “Chicago” at her age.

Maybe it’s me, but if I knew I was doing that dance, I would have researched it on You Tube.

  48. She will win and this will be the last time I ever watch DWTS.

To quote Derek Hough who said, that’s what everyone always says, but they will continue to watch.

I’m not everyone, I say what I mean and mean what I say. :)

  49. Did the Palin people freaking crash the DWTS voting page on ABC or something? I kept getting error messages when trying to log in for the longest time, then was able to get in 3 votes, and now I’m getting messages that the page can’t be found. WTF?

  50. My favorite radio station (NJ 101.5)was all over the tea party conspiracy regarding Bristol’s success. It was so funny and cracked me up!!! (I kinda was ashamed about my own theories Idol S8). It’s all so ridiculous! :)

I haven’t watched this season (I savor the train wreck called Kate), but I kinda like the idea of Bristol winning, because to me she is an amazing single mom! and I also love Derek Hough, so it can’t go wrong for me. :)

  51. I wasn’t able to vote tonight. The site kept kicking me off. Must be a hell of a lot of people overloading those servers. Overall, I’d have to say I was disappointed. No one really set the place on fire (hello ‘Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy’). Be interesting to see who actually wins tomorrow. I’d like it to be Jennifer (Kyle comes in second) – but Bristol seems like a sure bet.

  52. I also can’t look for fairness and scoring integrity in a show that pits olympic athletes against octogenarians.

That’s just an amazing point, and what is the point of Dancing With the Stars, anyway??? You’re damned if previously talented, and damned if you’re a puddle of non-dancing goo. Utterly ridiculous the range on the talent pool. Silly! At least AI has all pretty competent vocalists.

I pretty much always agree with you! :)

  54. The positive side of Bristol winning – it will give Mark Ballas 3 wins.

…and that would be awesome. I totally adore Mark and he has had to go through all this ridiculous hate and bashing with Bristol. I will be quite happy to see Mark lift the mirrorball trophy again.

  55. …and that would be awesome. I totally adore Mark and he has had to go through all this ridiculous hate and bashing with Bristol. I will be quite happy to see Mark lift the mirrorball trophy again.

Just wondering, do you feel sorry for Bristol, going through all of the media bashing???

  56. I’ve decided that I want Kyle to win just so I can see Lacey win. I want one of these SYTYCD peeps to win. And they need Benji and Heidi here as pros. Just saying.

  57. Just wondering, do you feel sorry for Bristol, going through all of the media bashing???

Yes I do. She is not her mother and shouldn’t have to suffer because dislike Sarah’s politics.

  58. Yeah, Bristol is pretty innocent and a nice girl. It’s so strange how the Palin’s have become media darlings, because I’m not sure what they’ve done to get the spotlight. But I feel the same way about a lot of reality t.v. celebs.

  59. Not a big fan of the Palins, but I do admire Bristol for her courage in doing this, having never been a performer and for keeping her wits about her, even though she has been terribly bashed.

Given that, I really like Kyle but Jenifer deserves to win.(Not a big fan of Derek either– too much of a hot dog, but he is an amazing dancer and choreographer.)

I don’t think Bristol will win, but I am so tired of the bashing against her. As someone above said, you have had similar people in the finale and some of them even won. It is all about politics.

One more thing- I can tell that Kyle is treating Bristol very well, so I think if she wins, he will be a gentleman. The question is whether Derek could swallow his pride and treat her well.

  60. I’ve also barely watched this season, but I guess I’d vote for Rick cause he’s hot. Oh, wait. Brandy cause she’s good. Oh, wait. Maybe Jennifer? I think Kyle ’cause Ace Young said so.

Bristol seems like a nice enough girl. Let her have her moment. LOL. I’m not mad at her. Not a fan of her mom, though.

But no, I have no time for voting for celebs. I barely have the patience to vote for AI contestants now and at least they are people trying to catch a break.

  61. Yes I do. She is not her mother and shouldn’t have to suffer because dislike Sarah’s politics.

Yet, she also benefits from her mother’s politics or she’d never be on the show in the first place or lasted this long. Goes both ways. If you can’t stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

I’m not going to bash her myself, but fair is fair. She’s not a star and wouldn’t be on the show if she wasn’t Sarah’s daughter who is promoting abstinence after having a child as a teen.

  62. I like Derek described as a “hot dog”, that’s just funny and cracks me up. :)

Ha ha PJ– your post made me smile!

  63. Bristol is nice?…..funny I never got that impression. She lacks personality except for when she whines.

Kyle is pure personality. You can’t help but like the kid and he has a chance. He tries real hard.

Jennifer is just a nice lady who works extremely hard. She is the oldest and the one with medical issues, but it doesn’t hold her down.

In a fair world it is Jennifer, then Kyle, then Bristol way way back.

Pretty much how I feel about this, though I think I’d be a little bit more lenient. I especially agree with the bold part.

  65. Bristol is nice?…..funny I never got that impression. She lacks personality except for when she whines.

really?? I think she’s very sweet.

  66. I can’t log on to vote. Those Palin people crashed the page. Maybe they did that on purpose. Maybe that was the plan all along.

The positive side of Bristol winning – it will give Mark Ballas 3 wins.

I keep seeing this everywhere. It’s not okay for Derek to have 3 wins, but it’s okay for Mark? He’s worse. Plus, he’s been very creepy and extra annoying this season.

  67. Not only can I not vote, I had cast three of my five votes earlier, and now it says I have four remaining. Did my other votes get lost? Then I go back again and it says 3 votes remaining. There’s something screwy with ABC’s site.

  68. I can’t vote either. Gets hung up when I try to login.

HELLO ABC get this thing up and running. I gots votes for Kyle I need to cast !

If Kyle can’t win this thing then I hope he, at least, takes second. His freestyle was my favorite tonite. The kid just knows how to light up a stage. Loved it!

  69. I finally got logged in on the Main ABC page, and got my votes in, it took a while though because it was freezing up. I hope Kyle and Lacey win–they’re just so fun to watch, or Jennifer is fine with me too.

  70. I like all three of these finalists. Kyle is fun! Bristol has some sort of “x factor” about her and I don’t think her dancing is all that bad at all. Sweet girl. And not only does Jennifer’s dancing beat them all, but….well….she’s BABY, and you don’t put baby in a corner, lol.

    My picks in order:
    1. Jennifer.
    2. Bristol.
    3. Kyle

  71. I’m rooting for Kyle and Lacey and got some phone votes in. My beautician usually doesn’t vote either and said she was going to vote for Kyle and Lacey. Didn’t have much success on line but may try again later if On Line works.
I really enjoyed Kyle all season and he worked hard and kept a positive attitude the whole time.
I think Jennifer and Bristol wore on some nerves from feedback I’m hearing.
Kyle and Lacey won for Entertainment value.

  72. seems silly to get emotionally invested in a show where no careers are really at stake. if dwts resuscitates any careers (brandy, jennifer), it is just by their being on the show, not by their winning. getting upset that good singers are voted off of AI or XFactor in favor of VFTW types makes sense, but getting upset about these folks, who’ll have careers and exposure anyways, just doesn’t make any sense. if bristol wins, so what? i won’t be bothered to vote.

anyways, isn’t the top 3 in the finale always consist of at least 1 who doesn’t belong there, and isn’t the one who almost made it (brandy, joanna, etc) to the finals one who should have been there?

  73. UGh, I just came home from the Monday-Night Football game – YAY Charges \o/, to find out my DVR DID NOT RECORD DWTS!!! I was soooo mad. But then I remembered MJs, she has it all.
Thank you MJ!!! You are a life-saver, well maybe not quite that dramatic :)
I split my online vote between Jennifer and Kyle, I came home too late for phone voting, but that’s ok. I had a great time endulging my men with accompanying them to the Football game :)

  74. She’s not a star and wouldn’t be on the show if she wasn’t Sarah’s daughter who is promoting abstinence after having a child as a teen.

YUP so true! I have a friend, who is doing the same thing, a teen activist, who is promoting abstinence after having a child herself. EXACT SAME THING, but she will never be asked to dance on DWTS, won’t she?
Her mother is just an office worker, and her dad is a teacher, nothing special here.

Just wondering, do you feel sorry for Bristol, going through all of the media bashing???

Yes I do. She is not her mother and shouldn’t have to suffer because dislike Sarah’s politics.

She may not BE her mother but it’s the only reason she’s on this show or you even know her name. I know this show doesn’t really have *stars* despite its title but in what universe is Bristol Palin a “star” and why?

  76. When I watch a show like this I want to see beauty and grace (Jennifer & Derek), I want to be entertained (Kyle & Lacey). I don’t want to see the train wrecks (Bristol & Mark). I know I am the exception and that most of our society relishes these “reality” shows and people are more than willing to make fools of themselves in order to get their 15 minutes.

I would like to see Kyle and Lacey win as they are entertaining and non-polarizing.

  77. I have bitter sweet feelings about the show right now. I love Kyle and Lacey. The entertainment value there is through the roof. I love Jennifer and Derek too. But Bristol and Mark… UGH!! I love Mark. Always have. But Bristol just doesn’t belong there. I don’t have any ill feelings toward her but she is so not a dancer and I don’t see improvement either. I am one of those that has said I will never watch again if Bristol wins this and I may not. But I would miss watching my favorite pros. So I don’t know. LOL

I do think a lot of people are getting a little too crazed about this whole thing. It is still just a tv show. Life will go on. ;) I’m not gonna shoot my tv or send letters with white powder in them. I’ll be irritated but I’ll get over it eventually.

  78. For me, least enjoyable finale of DWTS I’ve seen. Despite Tom’s excellent hosting, Kyle’s enthusiasm, and all the pro dancers’ skill. This just wasn’t the usual fun, exciting finale. The infusion of divisive politics cast a pall on the show and the judges’ effusiveness and overscoring (especially, yes, for Bristol) seemed false and flat. Carrie Ann, in particular, seemed to me to be acting excited, not actually excited. Oh, well.

Just wondering, do you feel sorry for Bristol, going through all of the media bashing???

Yes I do. She is not her mother and shouldn’t have to suffer because dislike Sarah’s politics.

When I made a comment about Bristol and her whining about the media I was addressing her comments…not her mom’s. I do have to admit though that when she started her sad face and whining, it sounded just like her mom. The reason I feel sorry for her is that I rarely see a smile on her face…she seems soooo depressed and her lack of energy (enthusiasm) shocks me coming from a young beautiful woman.

  80. Go Kyle and Lacey. I have been supporting Kyle from the beginning of the show. Bristol does not even belong in the top 3. The judges were way too easy on Bristol. If not Kyle then is should be Jennifer. It is because of her mother and politics that Bristol is still there. Not her dancing skills.

  81. i didn’t watch the finale. Just wasn’t interested wth Bristol in it; nothing against her but I hate everything her mom stands for and seeing her face and hearing her voice in the bristol sequences just kills me. I voted for Kyle. Love Jennifer but Kyle is more fun.

  82. Just a reminder you can still vote on-line this morning… until 11 Eastern.

None of the freestyles interested me, but I still love Kyle. No one can ever come close to Drew’s.

  83. Best Dancer: Jennifer – no contest
Best Entertainer – Kyle – no contest
Most Improved – Bristol – I do think from having zero experience, she has learned all the dances – some dances better than others, but still has learned them and showed not only grace but grace under fire. To perform every week, knowing that people hate her so much, whether it is because of her mom, family or hate that she isn’t a “star” herself at 20, well good for her.

Was Kelly Osborne a “star” before the show or was it her parent’s notoriety that got her noticed? They could cast Chelsea Clinton next and it wouldn’t hurt my feelings.

Anyway, any of the three could win and good luck to all of them!

  84. I kinda like the idea of Bristol winning, because to me she is an amazing single mom!

Those of us in the vanguard of the single motherhood movement appreciate the support. I will be impressed if this girl takes her DWTS money and provides herself with a way of supporting her child in the future.

she seems soooo depressed and her lack of energy (enthusiasm) shocks me coming from a young beautiful woman.

Yes. She seems at once very young for her age and quite miserable, swimming in the wake of mom’s “big personality.” My sense is she will write a fascinating memoir in twenty years. All that glitters is not gold.

  85. They could cast Chelsea Clinton

Now that would be something to watch!

I don’t think people hate Bristol Palin for who she his, but her mother is a tremendously polarizing figure, frightening to many people. Bristol unfortunately lives in the downside of fame (or infamy, YMMV). Sarah Palin and ABC share some responsibility for how this has played out. (Then, too, so does John McCain.) The backlash was inevitable, and it is a little too late to cry “foul,” when reality television and politics converge to provide a living. They have no business being related and are a sad commentary on our media culture.

  86. I do NOT understand why the judges gave Bristol the same score as Kyle when he obviously surpassed her. Her jive was so simple, and it wasn’t entertaining. Is ABC in bed with Sarah Palin?
I called the whole calling period and could only get one vote in for Kyle through the busy signals. Ruben & Clay all over again!

  87. okay for Mark? He’s worse. Plus, he’s been very creepy and extra annoying this season.

    Mark? Creepy?

  88. I do NOT understand why the judges gave Bristol the same score as Kyle when he obviously surpassed her.

So that there might be a tiny bit less indignation when she wins? (or comes in second, after knocking out one of the others remaining).

When it comes down to the end of the show, it seems to me I remember them really upping the scores of all the less-than-worthies that end up in the semifinal and final.

I think it’s because they know that the audience votes can easily overwhelm the scores and giving any one of them the win, so they don’t want to risk giving 6s or 7s (or even a bunch of 8s) to somebody who will turn out to be the actual winner. And didn’t I read that they rejiggered the scoring this year (or last?) so that the audience vote is now even more of a factor than it was in earlier seasons? They don’t want somebody winning who got 7s in the final round while other people were getting 10s!

(Mark creeps me out a bit, too. He always strikes me as a bit too arrogant and smarmy. And I’ve always thought that — like Derek also at times — he’s tried to bring too much of the spotlight to himself by seriously outdancing his partner. I remember him doing this when he was Kristi Y’s partner, and, while in some cases he’s probably done it to make the dance as a whole look good despite a partner’s being a bit sluggish, in that case it was completely unnecessary, since she could hold her own. For all I know, of course, he might be the nicest guy in the world.)

  89. The reason for Bristol’s ascension on Dancing With The Stars is overwhelmingly due to support from Tea Party followers in the interest of furthering their political agenda, many who are allegedly cheating the system and not even watching the show. Those who are apathetic to this phenomena should be aware of Bristol’s classless attitude on her Facebook page and in particular her sister Willow’s disturbingly homophobic slurs, to which her mother responded with silence despite her pledged tolerance to the LGBT community during the Vice President debates two years ago. ABC is essentially selling its soul by pouring this political fervor into the mix for ratings, and that reflects the dark side of capitalism and fascism.

  90. The reason for Bristol’s ascension on Dancing With The Stars is overwhelmingly due to support from Tea Party followers in the interest of furthering their political agenda

I don’t know how winning a dancing show furthers anyone’s political agenda. Unless the agenda is “dancing classes for everyone.”
It does keep the Palin name in the news. Does that further their agenda?
If it does, the problem is not ABC. The problem is the US electorate who would vote for someone because they heard their name in the news.

  91. I want Kyle to win. He worked hard, had a great attitude, improved greatly, and was entertaining throughout.

Second choice is Jennifer. She worked hard, persisted through some real challenges and health issues, improved greatly, and was a vision to watch dance.

I do not want Bristol to win or come in 2nd. I don’t think giving her points because of her Mommy or pity votes because people who watch reality TV can be cruel is right. She stank!

  92. Bristo will win, because of three things, (1) tea party supporters, (2) those who feel sorry that she’s a single mom “struggling” to support herself and her son alone, (3) those who want the underdog to win(even though she is the worse dancer).

  93. Well, I’ve never voted for Dancing With The Stars before, but this season I’ve been going online and voting for Kyle & Lacey. They bring no drama to the stage, and Kyle I think has actually progressed over the season. And, he is quite the entertainer.

However, last night– I couldn’t vote! It kept saying “processing” when I tried 10 different times– I left it going all night and it never went through! No idea what the heck happened! I hope he wins it

  94. This is Dancing With The Stars. Just like American Idol, it’s not about who is the best performer.

Kelly Monaco, Emmitt Smith, Helio Castroneves, Shawn Johnson, Donny Osmond were not the highest scores of their seasons, but they still won. Granted these folks were way more deserving than Bristol Palin.

  95. I like the Palin’s and what they stand for….which is the working man and America in general. I would be happy to see Bristol win and I did my part to make it happen.

  96. Mark? Creepy?

No, he is a GENIUS. He made a “Clomper” (my technical dance term for Bristol) look as good as possible. If they win Mark deserves it!! Bristol not so much.

  97. I voted for Jennifer and Derek, by far the best dancers, IMO. Their routines were so good I had to watch them over again. Kyle is very entertaining and I believe he should come in second. Although Bristol has improved since the beginning of the show she is the 3rd best dancer and actually should have gone home the previous week, and it has nothing to do with who she is or her mother is, it is because Brandy is a much better dancer than Bristol. Perhaps they should think about giving recognition in the finale show to the “Best Improved Dancer” and/or “Most Entertaining Dancer” – In this way, hopefully, the overall best dancer would win. When the votes are left to the public, the best does not always win. I am rooting for Jennifer and Derek.

  98. I just watched the videos and I enjoyed Bristol’s set the most. I guess because I always remind myself that DWTS is all about growth arc and I should be judging her based on that. And seeing how far she has come since the first time I saw her danced — stiff, slow, forgetful, lost, I can’t help but smile w/ awe. She can now catches up w/ Mark. Her footwork is cleaner, many times much better than the 2 fillers, Jennifer & Brandy. She’s more relaxed and limber (less tension on hands & fingers, more isolated trunk and hip movts ). She pick up more speed, more spontaneous, less jarring. She can do indiv moves w/o looking over her partner. She’s more graceful now, more aware of her body, the music, & the dance floor. Also, kudos to Mark for always picking the perfect song & creating routines that never showcased Bristol the same week after week. Variety is always the key in entertainment. It’s what makes them memorable.

Kyle has always been my favorite. Like Bristol, his dancing talent is limited. But unlike Bristol, he can dance and has rhythm when he first started. With that, I based his growth arc on consistency and execution, extra points if he can entertain. And surely, he did entertain me. Him & Lacey made the show bearable to watch. Their offstage antics cracked me up all the time.

If the show is about the most entertaining, I’ll give the stupid disco ball to KYLE otherwise I’ll give it to BRISTOL.

  99. If Bristol Palin thought people trashed her and spewed hatred towards over being a pregnant teenager (which is hilarious considering teens have been getting knocked up since the dark ages), then she ain’t seen nothing yet! If she actually WINS Dancing With The Stars, I think Jennifer’s fans will hunt her down along with the help of Brandy’s fans who are still crying about last week. Meanwhile, I’ll just be laughing my ass off at those who get so upset over a stupid show – ROFL!!! I don’t care who wins…I don’t get all emotionally invested in it like apparently SOME do. I am more entertained by watching people come up with conspiracy theories and freak out over things don’t even matter.

  100. Bristol is nice?…..funny I never got that impression. She lacks personality except for when she whines.

Jennifer is just a nice lady who works extremely hard. She is the oldest and the one with medical issues, but it doesn’t hold her down.

ROFL! Apparently you refuse to acknowledge the fact that Jennifer takes the cake when it comes whining. She was not the oldest before and the 70 year olds didn’t bitch every week about pain like she does. Jennifer’s whining has dominated this season. She is playing the martyr and it’s ridiculously apparent for those who are willing to see it.

  101. I also can’t look for fairness and scoring integrity in a show that pits olympic athletes against octogenarians.

Wow! One of the only intelligent comments I’ve seen on here!

  102. I also can’t look for fairness and scoring integrity in a show that pits olympic athletes against octogenarians.

I don’t think many would turn down the show. No one is forced to compete.

  103. I like the Palin’s and what they stand for….which is the working man and America in general.

Oh where is the laughing icon when you need it!

This comment sums it all up. Some people will vote for a kid who can’t dance to win a dancing show because they like her mom (which in itself is hard to fathom). What does Bristol Palin stand for exactly? Other than getting pregnant at 16 and appearing on cheesy reality TV.

  104. They could cast Chelsea Clinton next and it wouldn’t hurt my feelings.

But that’s the difference. There’s more likelihood of me appearing on some C list celebrity show than there is of Chelsea Clinton doing it. Now there is a young lady with class.

  105. Sallysimmons, I couldn’t agree more with your post at 4:49. I’m glad I decided not to watch this year. I’d hate to break my tv and I might have been tempted after last week.

  106. Bristol Palin, the teen activist who is paid to tour the country, preach abstinance and label her own son a mistake.

  107. Mark? Creepy?

Yes. The eyeliner, the painted nails, the shaved head; the constant groping and kissing and fondling of bristol like he wanted her or something. Maybe he did. I don’t know. His attitude is awful this season. Must be the Palins rubbing off on him. Plus, him thinking that he’s a serious musician. That’s hilarious.

  108. She is not her mother and shouldn’t have to suffer because dislike Sarah’s politics.

The only reason she is in the position to be criticized is because she is her mother’s daughter. Plenty of other teen mothers speak out for abstinance, and they do it with personality. Palin’s name just gives her a paycheck as well.

I also can’t look for fairness and scoring integrity in a show that pits olympic athletes against octogenarians.

    Spot on!

This is Dancing With The Stars. Just like American Idol, it’s not about who is the best performer.

    And this!

I don’t think many would turn down the show. No one is forced to compete.

The “stars’ who actually have an active career do seem to say “no” Its the wanna-bees and wanna-bees-again that have a hard time turning it, and the paycheck, down, LOL.

  109. Some people will vote for a kid who can’t dance to win a dancing show because they like her mom (which in itself is hard to fathom). What does Bristol Palin stand for exactly? Other than getting pregnant at 16 and appearing on cheesy reality TV.

I’m not sure what she stands for. I laughed when Bristol labeled people who didn’t want her to win DWTS as “haters”.

Bristol Palin, the teen activist who is paid to tour the country, preach abstinance and label her own son a mistake.

Thanks. That’s what she stands for, and being paid ~$35,000 a pop to lecture about it. Yuck.

There’s a piece on the ABC world news right now that shows Tea Party websites advocating voting for Bristol as a “vote for America”. Ugh.

  110. Mark? Creepy?

Gee if I didn’t know better, I’d think you didn’t like him. Well I think you’re one of the few seeing it because yours is the first negative comment I’ve seen. To each their own though……
