A year ago, Cee Lo Green was accused of sexual battery by a woman who claimed The Voice coach drugged her and had sex with her.
Today, Los Angeles prosecutors have charged Cee Lo with giving Ecstasy to the women, but have declined to file charges of sexual assault against him due to insufficient evidence.
Cee Lo reportedly met the woman at The Super Bowl in February 2012. After the woman told Los Angeles Police detectives she woke up naked in bed in a room with the singer, the department opened an investigation into the allegations.
Cee Lo insisted that after having dinner at a restaurant, the two stayed up all night taking ecstasy, but nobody passed out. Sources tell NBC that police did not believe there was evidence of “wrongful intent.”
Cee Lo is in court in downtown Los Angeles. TMZ is covering the appearance HERE. He’s been charged win one count of ecstasy possession. Prosecutors have asked that Cee Lo’s bail be set at $30,000. If convicted, Green faces up to four years in state prison.
Cee Lo’s attorney Blair Berk tells TMZ, “We are pleased that the Los Angeles County District Attorney has completed its investigation and concluded that the evidence did not support the false and unfounded claims made over a year ago.”
She adds, “As it relates to the one charge of furnishing or sharing ecstasy, Mr. Green will responsibly address that matter in a court of law.”
