Carrie Underwood’s Husband Mike Fisher Stands by Aaron Rodgers

American Idol alum and country star Carrie Underwood is very careful to keep her political beliefs to herself, but her ex-NHL playing husband, Mike Fisher, not so much. Even before the native Canadian became an American citizen, he was endorsing Trump-aligned politicians in Tennessee. In May, for instance, he sat for an interview with right wing provocateur, Candace Owens.

He’s also made his anti-mask and anti-vaxx positions clear. On Instagram posting a sketchy anti-vaxx, anti-mask interview hyping Ivermectin, (which has not been proven as an effective COVID treatment). Facebook/Instagram plastered the post with a bunch of fact checks. I’m surprised they didn’t take it down. He also posted a photo of a sticker that equates business that require patrons to be vaccinated to keeping out people based on race and religion.

Now, he’s posted a long message “standing by” NFL quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers who got himself into hot water last week when he admitted, after contracting COVID-19, that he wasn’t vaccinated after all. Previously, he disingenuously declared himself “immunized”–a very slick parsing of words.

Here’s what Mike has to say on Instagram about Aaron Rodgers:

I stand with @aaronrodgers12 I believe in the freedom to choose what we put in our bodies and the freedom of conscience. I agree with him in that the science clearly shows the vaccinated spread covid at basically the same rate as the unvaccinated. The @nhl @nfl and other leagues are ignoring the science and choosing to coerce and punish unvaccinated players with these restrictions. If they really cared about people’s health they would have daily testing for all. But these past 2 years has clearly shown us that this is not about our health, it’s about control over our lives. I won’t stand for that. It’s time to fight for our medical freedom and I feel for those that have been fired for choosing medical freedom. People losing their jobs over a medical choice is un-American and unacceptable. We need to stand up now before it’s too late!! #medicalfreedom #istandwithaaronrodgers

It’s a head scratcher. Because most of the anger seen online is from people angry that he lied, and didn’t follow NFL protocols for unvaccinated players. Former Steeler Terry Bradshaw, ripped Rodgers a new one over the weekend. NOT because he’s unvaxxed, but because he lied about it in the first place.

As Mike accuses people of nefarious motives for enacting COVID Health policies, it’s important to note the he gets his Covid information from sketchy sources, as referenced above. For instance, recent studies indicate that while vaxxed folks can transmit the virus, it’s more likely if a person is not vaccinated.

Does Carrie agree with her husband? She’s pointed out many times how different they are. He hunts, she’s a vegetarian, for instance. But she liked an anti-mask post a few weeks ago that featured a right-wing pundit. So…probably.

UPDATE: Reportedly, Carrie liked the post, but can’t confirm it. I can confirm that American Idol alum Colton Dixon liked the post.
