Carrie beat country rocker Bo Bice for the crown on May 25, 2005.

“So glad your Dad didn’t turn the car around” in the fan tweet refers to Carrie almost chickening out as the family drove to St. Louis, Missouri for the 21 year old’s audition in front of judges Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell.
“WOW, I cannot believe it’s been 15 years since my @americanidol win!!!” Carrie wrote on Twitter. “It’s been an incredible ride and I couldn’t have made it through without all of you guys!!”
