Carrie Underwood not only hosted the 53rd Annual CMA Awards alongside legends of country music, Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton, but she performed as well.
The American Idol season 4 winner strutted the stage performing her sexy nex single “Drinking Alone” from her album Cry Pretty. She starts off the performance in a hat and man-tailored jacket, eventually stripping down to lacy bell bottoms and a halter top. Watch the cool performance below.
The singer was nominated for three awards–Female Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year for Cry Pretty and Entertainer of the Year. Unfortunately, she was shut out of all three. Check out a full winners list with more video and photo HERE. Ironically, the 2019 CMA Awards was touted as a celebration of female country music artists. But when Entertainer of the Year was handed out at the end of the event, Garth Brooks won, for the SEVENTH time.
Still, Maren Morris nabbed Best Album award for GIRL and a female fiddle player, Jenee Fleenor, won Musician of the Year. But Carrie winning the most prestigious of CMA Awards would have capped the night off perfectly. As a side note–Carrie was the only female in the EOTY award category.
The show kicked off with a massive all-female number, featuring Carrie, Dolly Reba and Terri Clark, Sara Evans, Crystal Gayle, The Highwomen (comprised of Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby, Maren Morris and Amanda Shires), Martina McBride, Jennifer Nettles, Tanya Tucker and Gretchen Wilson. That’s some massive star power right there! Watch the performance below.
