Andy Cohen Calls Into Ryan Seacrest Radio to “Clear the Air”

Ryan Seacrest and Andy Cohen

Finally, Ryan Seacrest and Andy Cohen straightened out their so called rift on Thursday (Jan 5). And it turns out…nobody is mad! Nobody was ever mad. The two cooked up the beef to promote their respective New Year’s Eve shows. Ryan helms ABC’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, while Andy co-hosts CNN New Years Eve with Anderson Cooper.

For days prior to New Year’s Eve, the two volleyed comments back and forth between each other, which the press dutifully recounted. It started with snarky comments from Ryan saying hosts shouldn’t drink on the job and CNN was correct to ban alcohol this year. Then, he mentioned Andy drunkenly screaming on camera last year that the Rockin Eve acts were a bunch of losers. Andy vowed to drink anyway, but then rescinded that.

And then, after New Year’s Ryan acted miffed during his morning talk show, Live with Kelly and Ryan, claiming Andy didn’t say hi while they were hosting their respective shows only 10 feet away from each other. Kelly Ripa, a pal of Andy’s stuck up for him. Smells like….Kayfabe!

Nobody is Mad!

“I didn’t know where we stood, Ryan! I got to tell you something, I like watching people fight. I don’t like fighting with people,” Andy joked with Ryan during a call in interview on the latter’s iHeartRadio syndicated radio show.

“Well, we’re not. We’re not,” Ryan said. “That’s the funny thing is that we’re not,” confirming their was no feud. He added that they’ve been pals for well over a decade. Andy figured the two first met 15 years ago.

“This is really an Anderson [Cooper] thing,” Andy jokingly said of his CNN co-host. “I called Anderson and yelled at him on the radio yesterday. I was on my radio show yesterday and I said, ‘You know Anderson typically … when one of us sees Ryan behind us … one of us will nudge the other and say hey, there’s Seacrest. Look there’s Ryan’ so the other one can make note and give a wave and I said, ‘This year you did not do that! … Now look what you’ve done, Anderson.'”

“I love both you guys!” Ryan gushed.

Andy and Ryan were texting each other the morning of the broadcast

In fact, the two were actually texting each other about the weather in the morning! Ryan complaining on Live that Andy didn’t wave at him had to be a bid to extend the “feud” cycle a little longer. Both agreed that they prefered rainy warm weather to the freezing cold.

And while Andy didn’t drink during the CNN broadcast, he told Ryan he hit the tequila bottle afterward.
