Piff the Magic Dragon mixes comedy and magic in a really unique and goofy way. This week, the entertainer upped the ante for the America’s Got Talent Judge Cuts round by bringing his adorable doggie, Mr. Piffles, as part of the act. The combination of dry wit and skilled magic brings something never seen before to the AGT stage.
Tonight’s trick involved Mr. Piffles, a can of dog food and judge Heidi Klum. A playing card that Heidi chose vanished, only to inexplicably be found in a can of wet dog food. Ewww. But WOW. After, he makes himself a sandwich. Radom! Piff is matter of fact regarding his slight of hand. On the outset, short and dressed in a silly dragon costume, he could be mistaken for a joke contestant. But no way. He’s a pro. And absolutely hilarious.
The judges panel, including Heidi, Howard Stern, Mel B. and Howie Mandel, were really impressed. But it was this week’s “5th judge,” Neil Patrick Harris, who made all the difference to Piff’s fate.
Each of the weekly guest judges, over the next four weeks, will be able to use a “golden buzzer” on one act, which sends them straight through to the live rounds at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. NPH used his buzzer on Piff. “I loved all of it,” said Neil. “I loved the comedy, I loved the actual skill you have in magic…” Neil gushed before slamming the buzzer. Piff hands Neil his half eaten sandwich, “You’ve earned it,” Piff says. Great stuff.
