America’s Got Talent: Gangstagrass Unites Country and Rap (Video)

The group Gangstagrass! Guess what they do? If you said “country music and rap” you win a cookie! These days, rap and country music practically go hand in hand.

Having said that, Gangstagrass, who auditioned for America’s Got Talent in front of judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara are top notch musicians and performers. I especially enjoyed the violin player.

The five members of the group hail from all over the country. “Music brought us together,” one member says. The mission of the group is to make the world a better place by bringing people together, rather than keeping them apart.

They hope performing on the America’s Got Talent stage is the launching pad that allows them to spread their message all over the country.

The group starts off harmonizing on an original song, “Bound to Ride” with banjo picking as a backdrop. After the first verse, two members begin to rap, eventually there is more harmonizing and some terrific fiddle playing.

Fans will have to wait until Tuesday’s show to find out what the judges think. But I’m guessing they liked it very much.

America’s Got Talent airs Tuesday on NBC at 8 pm ET/PT.
