America’s Got Talent has returned for a sixth year to the Pasadena Civic Auditorium to tape season 16 of the NBC talent competition. Filming began on Sunday (March 28) with a limited audience in the venue due to COVID-19 protocols.
Simon Cowell is back in his chair after an unfortunate electric bike accident and hospitalization in August 2020 forced him off the show for the rest of the season. Sofía Vergara also returns for her second season as a judge while veteran judges Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel are back for their eighth (8-13 and 15-16) and twelfth seasons (5-16), respectively. Terry Crews returns as host for a third season.
“It’s so exciting to be back, honestly it’s so exciting to be anywhere. It’s so exciting just to be out of the house,” Howie Mandel told People magazine about filming the upcoming season.
America’s Got Talent season 16 debuts on NBC Tuesday June 1 at 8 pm ET/PT.
