America’s Got Talent 2019 Semifinals began Tuesday night. Eleven acts performed for the judges, Howie Mandel, Gabrielle Union, Julianne Hough and Simon Cowell. Only FIVE acts will advance to the finals after America’s vote. The results will be revealed on Wednesday’s (Sept 4) results show at 8 PM on NBC.

For whatever reason (fan backlash?) Simon was less overtly manipulative this week. He still made his favorites clear, but without throwing some acts under the bus at their expense, like he did last week. Ryan Niemiller, V. Unbeatable and Voices of Service are locks for the finale–and I’m not complaining. I wish I could say the same for talented guitarist Marcin Patrzalek, but I have a feeling that his complex playing is too abstract for the AGT audience. We’ll probably get more kid singers (Emanne Beasha, Lucas Islam) instead.
Maybe an unpopular opinion: If ONE magician could make it to the finale, I would choose Eric Chien over Dom Chambers. The latter is highly overrated. His act last night was amusing in spots, but barely qualified as magic.
