America’s Got Talent 2019 Finale Guest Stars Revealed

We are live blogging all the America’s Got Talent results right here, beginning at 8 pm ET. Guest stars include: Cher;  singer/songwriter Billy Ray Cyrus; rapper and songwriter Macklemore; singer, songwriter, actress Leona Lewis; Latin urban singer and songwriter Ozuna; global superstar, producer and DJ Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll?aka?Kygo;  pianist Lang Lang; and Chris Jericho, AEW champion and lead singer of the rock band Fozzy.

Host Terry Crews stands on stage brandishing what he says is the WINNERS CARD. But first the Detroit and Ndlovu Youth Choirs JOIN FORCES to sing “Higher Love” with DJ Kygo. Ndlovu is first on stage, soon Detroit joins them. I might be getting a little verklempt here! UNITY PEOPLE! Now, Macklemore joins them! He raps his way down the stairs along with the Detroit peeps. They sing “Can’t Hold Us.”

Well, THAT was a rousing opening! I’m fully awake now. Oh dang. This recap from last night might put me back to sleep.  Next, and FINALLY, the judges, Howie Mandel, Gabrielle Union, Julianne Hough and Simon Cowell are introduced. Simon says he has no idea who will win tonight. The guy was spacing out until Terry called him twice. He probably needs a smoke break.

ONE LAST DUNKIN’ LOUNGE. The show is going to be filled with a ton of filler, isn’t it…

Next it’s an “exclusive” AGT mashup. Light Balance Kids, Tyler Butler-Figueroa and last year’s finalist Brian Joseph King join forces. A trio of names. Heh. Tyler and Brian perform a violin duet of “Favorite Things” and then Light Balance Kids take the stage to dance to “Treasure” by Bruno Mars. Just as I am thinking “where’s the mashup?” SURPRISE SURPRISE SURPRISE.  The “kids” pull off their masks and IT’S PAULA ABDUL! Dancing with the kids! PAULER PAULER PAULER!

Lang Lang takes the stage next to play some hokey piano. Kid opera singer Emmane Beasha joins him on stage for a song, that will appear on his new album.

Next, it’s Ryan Niemiller. He shares that he wanted to be a pro-wrestler once upon a time. He could be a bad-**s! So his handle “Cripple Threat” is his wrestling name! Chris Jericho is his favorite wrestler. He drops by to teach Ryan a few moves.  Oh dear. Ryan is too nice for trash talk. Ha. Chris teaches him to yell at Simon, who does not even know what Ramen noodles are. Well, that was fun. “You never turn your back on the cripple threat!”

Howie introduces a video clip that’s all about host Terry Crews. What a wacky guy!

Next Benicio Bryant takes the stage with his “hero” Latin urban singer and songwriter Ozuna. Benicio got a haircut! It’s a little jarring! So is this musical style for Benicio. But it actually suits him! Benicio didn’t sing any upbeat songs for the competition. This is a welcome change up.

The next video package stars Simon and Cher. What a pair. This is very odd. The two discuss “random thoughts”…on things. Cell phones, video games and more. Simon likes pong.

Now, it’s Julianne Hough performing her new single. V. Unbeatable join her on stage.  She sings. They toss…Julianne! Right through the air. Don’t like the song? There’s a distraction! Heh. Hm. This is a pop song. Wasn’t she a country singer last time?

Lilly Singh, is a Youtube star who hosts the new late late late night show on NBC. She picks the five worst acts: The monkey in a tutu, Death, Yurian Retriever (OF COURSE), Brandon Coprich (the naked flute player) and Sethward is her favorite. Very efficient to highlight the season’s joke auditions while promoting the new gal.

Next, Voices of Service join Billy Ray Cyrus to sing his song “Some Gave All.” Hm. I understand the song choice, but I don’t really care for it. It’s way too corny and uber-patriotic.

In the next video clip, Simon Cowell shares his “American dream.” Growing up he loved American cartoons and movies. He went to America for the first time at 23 years old and calls Americans the nicest people he’s ever met in his life. Then, the contestants share their thoughts on the American dream.

And now DRUM ROLL!!!!! Cher takes the stage to perform Abba’s “Waterloo” with groovy backup dancers. Oh, Cher has a new fragrance coming out in November! Everybody has something to promote tonight.

Next, Kodi Lee sings with X Factor UK alum Leona Lewis. They perform a very sweet duet of the hit “You Are the Reason” by Calum Scott.

Now, Terry sits down with each finalist to chat about their individual journeys on America’s Got Talent. And after the break…the results begin!

RESULTS: Here we go! The Top 10 acts are center stage. In no particular order, Terry will reveal the Top 5. Benicio Bryant and Voices of Service are center stage.  The first act taking a spot in the Top 5 is…Voices of Service! Benicio isn’t in the Top 5. My predictions are already shot. Emmane Beasha and Ryan Niemiller step forward. The act taking the second spot in the Top 5 is…Ryan Niemiller!

V. Unbeatable are next, with Ndlovu Youth Choir. The act taking the third spot in the Top 5 is V. Unbeatable. Ndlovu Youth Choir is eliminated. Kodi Lee and Light Balance Kids are next. The act taking the fourth spot in the Top 5 is Kodi Lee. Light Balance Kids are eliminated. Tyler Butler-Figueroa and Detroit Youth Choir step forward. The act taking the last spot in the Top 5 is…Detroit Youth Choir!!! Color me shocked.

Next, we find out which of the Top 5 came in fifth. America has voted. The act finishing in fifth place and leaving the competition is…Voices of Service.

The act leaving in fourth place and leaving the competition is…V. Unbeatable. WHAT? The crowd is BOOOOING! Julianne calls the result shocking. Finishing in 3rd place is….Ryan Niemiller. Gabrielle wants to know when he is available. “You are my next star!” OK. This is shocking. Detroit Youth Choir in the Top 2? REALLY REALLY REALLY?

Time to reveal the winner! But first, video packages featuring the Top 2 roll. And finally, America has voted. The winner is…KODI LEE. Of course.  Detroit Youth Choir are eliminated in 2nd place.

KODI LEE WINS America’s Got Talent!

Check out the Top 5. All are American acts. As red white and blue as apple pie. In hindsight: It was silly to think a foreign act like V. Unbeatable could win or even rank high in the standings. I say that taking into consideration the divisive times we’re living in right now. It’s why Detroit Youth Choir beat the better choir, the Africa-based Ndlovu. Also, I feel certain Emmane Beasha would not have made the Top 10 if it had become widely known she was Jordanian and had previously won Arabs Got Talent

But congratulations to Kodi and his family. He was obviously thrilled to win. Like I said before, he can do some good in this world. As an ambassador for AGT, he has been given the opportunity to inspire folks who struggle with challenging disabilities like autism. It’s all good.
