Overall, last week’s acts were stronger. The big winners tonight were singers Mandy Harvey, Kechi and Angelica Hale. Six acts out of 11 were singing acts. TWO kid singers, two performers with disabilities, and a teenager. The kiddos opened and closed the show. Guess which one production wants to advance. Hm.
Mandy Havey performed at her personal best, while Kechi, Angelica and Christian have had better performances in the past. Christian has never been able to top his audition performance. Tiny Christina Tam did a better job choosing a song than her counterpart, Angelica. But it’s likely the latter who will advance.
As far as the rest goes. Colin Cloud continues to confuse me? Or maybe I’m easily confused. His mentalist narratives are far too fussy. Compare his act to the Clairvoyants, who not only boasted impressive tricks, but delivered them with clear, entertaining storylines. Diavolo was terrific tonight. Speaking of compelling storylines–Diavolo were a perfect marriage of story, props and performance. Gorgeous. The light shows fall flat for me–but Light Balance probably deserve to advance.
