American Idol's Maddie Poppe Drops Christmas EP (Audio)

After winning American Idol in 2018, Maddie Poppe dropped her first post-Idol album Whirlwind on Hollywood Records in 2019. Now, the singer-songwriter has released her first independent record since her first album, Songs from the Basement, released in 2016 before her American Idol run.

The new set includes five classic Christmas songs. On an instagram post, Maddie announced the EP release, expressing her excitement over having complete creative control of her music once again:

Excited to share with you that on November 20th I’ll be releasing “Christmas from Home”!

This EP will be my first independent release since “Songs From the Basement” (2016), which makes it very special to me. It gave me a chance to once again have total creative and musical control and I think you’ll hear that it’s genuine to my sound as you listen through each song. However, this could have never happened without my good friends @drewtaubenfeld on production and @greatscottcreates on vocal production. These guys busted their butts every day for the past few months to churn this thing out. We have worked so hard on this project and I am so excited for you to hear it.

Cover artwork was hand painted once again by the very talented @doodlesbydylan – I am always amazed by what he can create in just a matter of days…so happy he could jump on board with me again to create something so wonderful.

Physical CDs and new holiday merch will be available to order on November 20th as well…produced and shipped by yours truly. Will be posting more sneak peeks in the coming weeks!! Thanks for all your support, and for sticking with me this year, it’s been a rough one for us all but I hope to end it on a happy note!

Maddie also posted a throwback photo of herself on American Idol, describing how she met Drew Taubenfeld when he backed her on American Idol. “Just came across this picture from January 25, 2018. If you look closely, you can see @drewtaubenfeld in the back! We hadn’t met yet, but nearly three years later who knew I’d be releasing a Christmas EP produced solely by him!”
