Fritz Hager is very VERY excited. The American Idol season 20 Top 5 singer can barely contain himself on Instagram as he previews a new song. He’s so eager for his fans to spread the song around, that he doesn’t even reveal the track’s name! Or maybe he hasn’t named it yet.
“I don’t think I’m supposed to show you this,” Fritz says in the video as the track plays. “I just got this demo back…please blow this up so I can release it. Please!”
The lyrics go: “Oh it feels like a fire starting. You call my name and oh we’re falling. I can’t see straight. Your lips taste like another mistake.” The song continues, “Touch me like you mean it. But I don’t think that I’ll see you again. You pull me away. I wanna pull you closer. And I don’t even know your name.”
Who does Fritz need permission from to preview the track? Likely its 19 Recordings/BMG who either still have him under contract from the show, or plan to sign him.
A few of his fellow American Idol alums commented under the song: Season 20 runner up HunterGirl: FRITZY DROP THIS FIRE (“I want to so badddd” Fritz replies) Emyrson Flora, also from season 20: I’M OBSESSED
A fan mentioned that “Waves” artist, Dean Lewis, whom Fritz covered during the competition, liked the post.

Fritz performed several original songs on American Idol, including tunes from the independent self-titled EP he dropped earlier this year. He performed his orginals, “Inconsequential Love,” “All My Friends” and “The Ocean.” Also, the singer recorded a winners single “Hearts Align” written by American Idol season 18 alum Francisco Martin.
The singer-songwriter left the competition the week before the finale. He didn’t get an Idol sponsored homecoming like Noah Thompson, HunterGirl and Leah Marlene (winner, 2nd and 3rd place respectively), but his hometown, Tyler, Texas did welcome him home a week after the grand finale.
Additionally, while Fritz didn’t win American Idol, he did win the Live with Kelly and Ryan “Encore” contest, which gave him the chance to perform “Hearts Align” on the morning talk show, alongside host Ryan Seacrest.
