American Idol winner Chayce Beckham has been in Nashville for a few weeks now. And as he gets settled into his new digs, he’s also finding time for fun.
While he and judge Luke Bryan haven’t found time to fish together yet–although they did sing together on stage–Chayce managed to reel in another country star to get up at dawn for some fun. Jimmie Allen, who also auditioned for American Idol some years ago, went out on a boat with Chayce over the weekend.
Notably, Jimmie dueted with two Top 24 contestants this season–Cecil Ray and Alanis Sophia–on the show. Although Chayce duetted with Incubus’ Brandon Boyd during the round, Jimmie and Chayce probably met backstage at some point.
The day started off auspiciously enough.
But, according to Chayce’s Instagram stories, the fish they just were NOT BITING. But eventually, as the singer reveals on his ride home, “We got a few in the boat,” adding, “It’s a good way to start the day!…Now we’re going to do some music stuff. Back to work!”
Over the weekend, Chayce posted a long, philosophical message on his Instagram page, describing how he’s settled into his new Nashville digs. He’s back to songwriting, and promises to keep in touch with fans on social media. In the meantime, his Johnny Cash records are keeping loneliness at bay.
Well I’m all settled in, back to writing songs every morning, I’m really excited to get these tracks recorded and released for y’all. It’s been a whirlwind as far as moving across the country, being away from my family again, and trying to put everything together properly. It’s funny to look back on moments like this when I had no idea what was about to happen in my life. God works in funny ways doesn’t he? I never saw it coming.
I’m so grateful for all the people I’ve met this past year who have become my family, for making me feel so welcome here in Nashville, and guiding me along the way and helping me stay grounded. God bless you guys. Can’t lie it gets a bit lonely but my Old Johnny records have given me all the company I need, been inspiring me and getting me back to the things I love about songwriting.
I’m happy, healthy, and doing well. I feel like I just needed to check in with y’all, well, because I love you! and I’ve been MIA but now that I’m all settled in, you’ll be hearing from me a whole lot more. Love you guys.
This fall, Chayce plans to hit the road with Three Doors Down.
