American Idol runner-up Alejandro Aranda recently dropped his 90’s inspired single “DIAMONDS.” Now, the accompanying music video has been released.

Alejandro, who releases music under the moniker Scarypoolparty was clearly influenced by Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails. But he told Altpress.com, where the clip premiered, that he was also influenced by another act of the era, “I’m a lifelong Ministry fan,” he said. “I wanted to create a song that had a similar industrial-rock sound and was heavy on synthesizers.”

Alejandro co-produced the track with Sawyr (ZAYN, Nicki Minaj) and also enlisted Grammy-winning Mike Bozzi (Post Malone, Mac Miller, Linkin Park) to master the single.

“The hardcore music scene inspired this video,” he told Altpress. “I used to see a lot of shows at the Programme Skate & Sound [near his hometown Pomona, Calif.], so I wanted to shoot the video at my old stomping ground.”

Director Laban Pheidias added: “Knowing that Alejandro grew up going to shows at Programme Skate & Sound, I wanted to radically pay tribute to that and create a live performance that no one would forget. This video represents the hardcore passion and in-your-face energy of [the song].”

Currently, Alejandro is working on his debut album for 19 Recordings/Hollywood Records. He’s also embarking on a sold out fall tour. Check out the dates at this link. Tonight (Oct 10) he plays the UC Theatre Taube Family Music Hall in Berkeley, Calif.
