While the fifteenth and final season of American Idol is well underway, the current Idol winner Nick Fradiani is getting ready to release his debut single.
“We’re putting the last little finishing touches on the record,” Nick told the Hartford Courant recently about his upcoming album. “It’s totally Top 40 pop music. I’ve been into a lot of Nick Jonas and Maroon 5, stuff like that, so it has that vein, but I kind of put my own vibe to it that I feel happy about.”
It’s the Maroon 5 influences you’ll hear in this preview of the upcoming single, “Get You Home,” as the singer croons the verse in falsetto. Fans watching Nick sing duets with American Idol contestants Gianna Isabella and Thomas Stringfellow during last night’s broadcast were treated to a little preview.
The track is current sounding, funky, radio ready pop. Not that the singer feels he sold out in any way. “I just wanted to make the best possible music and write the best songs that I could…on my terms, and the way that I want it,” Nick said in the clip before introducing the song, “…and I think we got it!”
Since leaving Idol back in May, Nick has been working with Idol mentor and Big Machine records chief, Scott Borchetta. The singer has written many songs, many Scott would reject, Nick told the Courant. “It’s close, it’s getting there, it’s getting there.” he’d say to Nick.
“We wanted to make sure that when we came with that proper first single that it could compete,” said Scott, who is executive producing the album, “And absolutely he can compete. I’m so excited about the first single.”
And here’s the clip! What do you think of Nick’s first single “Get You Home”? He’s managed to create a record that fits into the current pop radio climate, while keeping his artistic sensibility intact.
