Local ‘American Idol’ contestant visits Boston Children’s Hospital – American Idol contestant and Weston native Sonika Vaid made a stop at Boston Children’s Hospital before traveling back to Hollywood yesterday. Sonika met 9-year-old patient Ella Powers. Ella is fighting leukemia and is a big fan of Idol and Sonika. Her mom reached out to Sonika to make the meeting happen. Scotty McCreery brings ‘the best of both worlds’ on new album – “I don’t know the formula, why some work out and some don’t,” says McCreery, who performs Sunday at the Event Center at River City Casino. “I know when they get off the show they work their tails off and put out the best work they can. But there’s different measures of success. It might not be mainstream, but they may still be having a fair amount of success in what their niche is. But me and Phillip were the last ones with mainstream success.” McCreery hopes to keep that going with his third album, currently in progress. He recently split from his record label Mercury Nashville/Interscope, so it’s not certain where the new music will land.
