It’s time to celebrate. Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and host Ryan Seacrest will ALL return to the upcoming American Idol landmark season. The 2022 season will be the 2oth anniversary of American Idol. What’s more, the next season will be the 5th on ABC. TWO big round numbers to note.
And to celebrate all good things, and promote the upcoming “Idol Across America” virtual auditions, the gang put out a fun video that encourages hopeful singers to upload an audition clip now.
Luke promotes the 20th season from behind the wheel of his truck, while Lionel wields a pair of hedge clipper in what looks like his house lawn. Katy tosses clean cloths while imploring auditioners to “keep it clean because there will be producers!”
“Speaking of clean,” says Luke behind a shower curtain wearing a cheesy shower cap. “Ge audition now! You can even audition from your bathroom.”
Meanwhile, Lionel shares that American Idol 2021 winner, Chayce Beckham, auditioned on “Idol Across America” on his lunch break.
“Did someone say lunch!” shouts Katy, who has turned herself into a sandwich. “Don’t be such a cold cut. It’s so easy to audition!”
Finally, Ryan appears. Is that the lunch room in his New York studio? I actually own a fridge like that.
On Twitter, Katy writes, “The only thing that will get the haunting image of LB in the shower out of my head is some NEW TALENT! WE’RE BACK WITH AUDITIONS and I hope my fellow judges @LukeBryanOnline& @LionelRichie + @RyanSeacrest are sharpening their photoshop skills! Luke snarks back, “You’re welcome American Idol!”
American Idol season 20 virtual auditions begin today in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. For the full “Idol Across America” schedule, and to sign up to possibly sing for producers click this link.
