The Voice Tuesday (May 21) season 16 finale earned a 1.1 rating in the key 18-49 demo and is the lowest rated finale in The Voice history. For recent comparisons, The Voice season 15 finale last fall notched a 1.7 and The Voice season 14 finale a 1.5. The number is actually LOWER than Monday’s performance finale which garnered a 1.2. That’s a thing that rarely happens, if ever.
American Idol’s Sunday (May 19) finale preliminary rating was a 1.3, but rose to a 1.5 in the final update. I was sure The Voice’s star-studded finale would beat American Idol. It’s still possible The Voice number will rise when the finals are released this afternoon. However, The Voice live show ratings have remained unchanged, or adjusted down when the final numbers are tabulated.
One sliver of good news: The Voice finale rose 1/10ths of a point compared to last Tuesday’s 1.0.
