Very sad news. Marque Lynche, American Idol season 3 semi-finalist, died over the weekend. His roommate found the body in their New York City apartment Sunday afternoon and he was pronounced dead at 4 pm ET. Police are waiting for a report from the medical examiner to determine the cause of death.

The singer’s first brush with fame was with the Mickey Mouse Club back in the 90s, co-starring alongside Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling and Christina Aguilera.

Marque competed in American Idol season 3 back in 2004 and got as far as the semi-final round, where he was eliminated.

Here’s Marque singing “The Wing Beneath My Wings” as part of Group 1, which also included Diana DeGarmo, Fantasia and Jennifer Hudson.

In 2000, the St. Petersburg, Florida, native appeared off Broadway in The Lion King as Simba. He joined the cast of Fame on 42nd Street in 2004. According to The Wrap, Marque later took a break from acting to heal from the loss of his mother and focus on recording and releasing an album on a record label.

I came across this video on YouTube which appears to have been recorded in a rehab facility. It seems Marque was dealt with some serious issues during his short life.

Marque was the brother of American Idol season 9 4th place finisher, Michael Lynche. Thoughts go out to the entire Lynche family, and their friends. Rest in Peace, Marque.
