American Idol announces upcoming guests, including Noah Thompson, HunterGirl, Smokey Robinson and Adam Lambert

American Idol has revealed musical guests and mentor for the next few weeks of season 21. They include Smokey Robinson, last season’s winner and runner-up Noah Thompson and HunterGirl, and Season 8 alum Adam Lambert.

After the American Idol Top 26 perform on Sunday (April 16) and Monday (April 17), America votes and the Top 20 will be revealed in a three hour extravaganza set for Sunday April 23. Alongside the tense reveals, last season’s winner, Noah Thompson, and runner-up, HunterGirl will perform on stage. Also, Motown legend Smokey Robinson will perform a tune from his new album, Gasms. The episode will be filmed on Wednesday April 19 in Los Angeles. Stay tuned for Spoilers!

American Idol 2023: Full Season 21 Schedule

On Monday April 24, the LIVE shows begin. The Top 20 will perform again in another 3 hour broadcast as the Top 12 is revealed. America chooses ten contestants, while the judges add two wildcards.

Adam Lambert to mentor the Top 12

The following Sunday, April 30, is a “Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame” theme. And here is where it gets EXCITING. season 8 alum and Queen frontman Adam Lambert will MENTOR the Top 12 as they prepare performances hoping to win a spot in the next round. By the end of the show, a Top 10 will be revealed.

After his run on American Idol in 2009, where he finished as runner-up, Adam has mentored and guest judged several times on the show, including during the FOX era. On season 13, he took part in an American Idol “Boot Camp” with season 5 alum Chris Daughtry. The two helped then mentor Randy Jackson prepare the Top 31 for the competition. On season 14 in 2015, he filled in on the judges panel for Keith Urban. In the ABC era, Adam served as the guest mentor for Queen Night on season 17 in 2019.
