American Idol 2019 Top 8 Duet Partners Revealed! (Spoilers)

American Idol 2019 Top 8

American Idol posted a clip on Twitter that pretty much gives away Sunday’s duet partners. Tell me if I’m wrong! The Top 8 are paired up for movie-themed performances.

American Idol Top 8 Duet Pairings

  • Laine Hardy and Laci Kaye Booth
  • Madison VanDenburg and Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon
  • Alyssa Raghu and Wade Cota
  • Walker Burroughs and Alejandro Aranda

Laine and Lacy/Madison and Jeremiah give are dead giveaways. Laine imitates Laci’s southern accent, before revealing his partner is a girl. And then Laci imitates Laine’s favorite artist Elvis by imitating his famous lip curl. Alyssa makes it clear that her partner loves to eat. No judgment–but Wade appears to be a dude who enjoys a good meal. Wade mimics a hair toss. Its gotta be Alyssa right? Walker’s impression is a weird scrunchy face that kinda looks like Alejandro. And Alejandro’s thumbs up seems very Walker-like.

What do you think about the pair-ups? It’s always difficult to set up a group of disparate artists into duos. There is always an odd duck pairing. Laci and Laine is a no brainer. The two are the remaining country leaning artists in the competition. Madison and Jeremiah are singers with big voices and range. Ditto! Walker and Alejandro don’t have similar styles. However, both artist’s strengths are their musicality. They could come up with an interesting performance. Wade and Alyssa are not alike at all. They are the problematic pairing of the bunch.

Adam Lambert Will Mentor American Idol Top 8 for Queen Night
Watch a Preview Clip of The Queen + Adam Lambert Documentary (VIDEO)

On Sunday’s American Idol (8:00–10:01 p.m. EDT/5:00-7:01 p.m. PDT) the finalists pay tribute to one of the world’s most iconic bands, Queen. In this episode, each contestant will take on a song from the legendary Queen catalogue, before partnering up for classic movie duet performances.

Helping to prepare the Top 8 to rock the stage is American Idol season 8 alum Adam Lambert, who acts as celebrity guest mentor. Since first appearing on American Idol in 2009, Adam has gone on to release four albums, has appeared in numerous hit television series and is currently touring the U.S. with Queen.

After making history last season as the first reality competition series on American television to allow viewers to watch and vote from coast to coast simultaneously, American Idol continues its simulcast once again in all time zones across the country. For this episode, viewers will be able to vote by text, via AmericanIdol.com/vote and on the “American Idol” app during the show. Two contestants will be eliminated at the end of the show in real time, across all time zones. However, the judges, Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie can save ONE contestant this season. Will they save a singer this week? Tune in to find out. Additionally, Ryan Seacrest hosts the series, while multimedia personality Bobby Bones acts as in-house mentor.
