Dexter Roberts was eliminated tonight on American Idol XIII, after he received the fewest votes. From Fayette, AL, the 22-year-old sang “Muckalee Creek Water” on last night’s performance show.

Dexter sang out with the country ballad, “Lucky Man.” If he had stuck to ballads, which he delivered with heartfelt emotion, he might have stuck around the competition longer. The generic anthems and party songs just came off karaoke in his hands. He tried to go a little dark and intense last night with the Luke Bryan cover, but he could not bring enough originality to his performance.
Next week, on Wednesday, April 23 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed), the Top Six – C.J. Harris, Jena Irene, Caleb Johnson, Jessica Meuse, Alex Preston and Sam Woolf – “get a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll as they perform two songs each – one country and one rock!”
