American Idol 13 – Now You Can Audition with Your Guitar!

Attention all you White Guys and Gals With Guitars! For the first time EVER YOU can hide behind your sing with a guitar at the initial cattle call audition.

Now, for the first time in AMERICAN IDOL® history, you can audition with your guitar! So bring out your guitars and show us what you’ve got!

Please note that each audition MUST start with an a capella piece and hopefuls will only be able to use their guitars after the a capella audition at the discretion of the producers. Auditioners are not required to perform with a guitar at any time.

First stop for Season 13 Auditions is Salt Lake City on July 11! Are you ready to become the next AMERICAN IDOL®? Check out all the cities we’ll be visiting this summer on our search for the next Idol™!

If your unable to make it to any of the cities, you can also register online and audition here. Please note that online auditions will not include the use of guitars. Get audition FAQ’s, audition release forms and rules by clicking on the links below.

Just to reiterate, in case you are confused, hopefuls can bring their guitars to the big stadium audition. That’s the very first performance in front of producers. Yes, this is a first. It looks like the screeners will only allow guitar playing if they like the initial a’cappella audition. At which point, I suppose they would ask for another song.

This development is QUITE a reversal after Season 12’s guitar-phobia. Will we have a Top 12 full of guitar players this season? Hm.

With brand new producers in charge, I wonder if the cattle call auditions will have many more changes? We’ll have to keep an eye out.
