Welp. This is a screen grab of a few tweets Angie Miller favorited after Burnell Taylor was eliminated from American Idol Thursday night. She might be a little upset that Lazaro Arbos–who has not only had poor performances through most of the competition, but also trouble remembering words and learning choreography– was not only spared elimination, but landed a spot the Top 3.
Angie also favorited this tweet, from @CarolG1346 23h “@LazaroAI12 stole @BurnellAI12 spot!! Done watching #idol! Hope @AngieAI12 wins. #lazaroneedstogo”
That there is frustration and annoyance shared among the finalists regarding Lazaro’s ability to garner votes, despite his shortcomings, should be no surprise. That the Idols are so public about their feelings? I wasn’t expecting that. Dissing fellow Idols in public–no matter how much they seem to deserve it–never goes down well with viewers. Although, I’m thinking Angie may not have expected fans to be digging through her favorites. But they do Angie. Having fans is like having an army of private detectives constantly on your tail.
But the singer–who also made the Top 3 along with Kree Harrison– wasn’t exactly hiding her feelings Thursday night when she tweeted for public consumption, “Honestly, I’m shocked with America’s votes. This competition will NOT be the same without @BurnellAI12.” So. Yeah.
Burnell has been very diplomatic in post-boot interviews when asking questions about Lazaro, but he tweeted love to his fellow finalists here “@CandiceAI12 @AmberAI12 @KreeAI12 @AngieAI12 @JanelleAI12 Miss Y’all!” Maybe failing to tag Lazaro was an oversight…or maybe not.
