BROADWAY BEAT - Meet The Tony Nominees!

Thanks again Joesplace for all the amazing spoiling over at This week we have an old idol standby (the blue eyed soul singer), A season 9 type contestant (indie rock female) and possibly what Nigel’s vision for season 10 is (a dancer, singer, rapper)?

Bekuh Boom (Rebecca Rose Ryder) – Bekuh auditioned on Myspace. Decent voice, kind of jazzy, but not a whole lot of power. Considers herself a dancer, singer, and a rapper.  Nigel I’m sure would salivate over a contestant who did all that well.  Unfortunately I think she is just okay in all three. If she goes out and knocks it out of the park in Hollywood though I think Nigel would put her on the show in a heartbeat.

Danny Pate– Great range, and a rich, smooth voice. His type of blue eyed soul has always been very popular on the show.  Doesn’t seem to fully support all his notes though, and seemed winded by the end of the song. If his voice makes it through the rigors of Hollywood he could be a contender.

Kayleigh Goldsworthy– In the interest of fairness, I should start by saying I have seen Kayleigh’s band The Scarlet Ending play….and they are amazing! Kayleigh is in the band with her sister, and they are both great singers. Kayleigh is a bit reminiscent of Regina Spektor or Brandi Carlile, and has a cool, quirky voice. I think she would have done real well last season. Unfortunately, I think she is a season too late, as I question how many quirky indie girls will be let through this season.
