Alejandro Aranda aka Scarypoolparty was scheduled to perform on the last day of Outside Lands in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, but abruptly canceled his set on Sunday, Oct. 31.

The American Idol 2019 runner-up decided not to perform to “prioritize his mental health,” according to festival promoters Another Planet Entertainment and Superfly.

Alejandro is currently touring as an opening act for X Ambassadors and is scheduled to play The Danforth Music Hall tonight (Nov 1) in Toronto. The schedule has been fairly gruelling. The X Ambassadors tour has dates scheduled on Nov 2, Nov 4, Nov 6, and Nov 8 this week. Check out his tour dates HERE.

Alejandro previously cancelled a UK tour, and an appearance at Summer Camp Fest

It’s not the first time Alejandro prioritized his mental health by cancelling tour dates. The singer cancelled a UK tour back in December 2019, on the heels of a a sold out North American tour. “I’m extremely sorry to announce that I will be canceling my shows in the London next week,” Alejandro wrote on social media the time. “I never want to disappoint my fans but I feel like it would be wrong if I were to play shows while being exhausted and not in the right mental health for those watching.”

And the night of the American Idol finale in May 2019, Alejandro got off a private jet headed for a media tour in New York City. Idol winner Laine Hardy went on to NYC without him.  On a commercial break during the finale broadcast Alejandro confessed that he is afraid to fly.

In August, Alejandro pulled out of the Summer Camp Festival writing on Twitter, “Unfortunately I will not be able to perform tomorrow at Summer Camp due to Covid concerns. Stay safe and hope to see you guys soon!”

Alejandro has not posted on Instagram since October 10, when he uploaded a video of himself playing a Gibson guitar.

The singer-songwriter released his latest album, an ambitious double set The Act of Forgiveness, in August.

Thoughts are with Alejandro. Mental health ALWAYS needs to be the priority. g
