On the America’s Got Talent finale in September, country trio Chapel Hart was notable for rough sounding vocals. The lead singer Danica Hart in particular appeared to be having vocal issues. It didn’t take away from their spunk, passion and energy, but Danica seemed to be struggling.
Now, it turns out Danica WAS struggling with ongoing issues. On Friday, the Chapel Hart official Instagram account posted a short clip of Danica being wheeled into surgery.
Danica Hart had vocal cord surgery
“Well IG your girl had to have vocal chord (sic) surgery and I was nervous about sharing with everyone…” the IG shared. “But I felt like y’all have been on this journey with us through the good, bad, & the ugly so I figured we wouldn’t stop now! I am on the road to recovery and will be updating y’all as I go! Thanks for all the get well gifts, prayers, & good vibes!!! Love y’all!”

Danica is on the mend
On Saturday, the band posted an update which showed Danica definitely on the mend. “**UPDATE** Danica says a great big thank you for the outpouring of love prayers and support and wrote “Dedgum! I didn’t know this many people knew who I was,” she continued, “But it sure feels good to know people love ya and care for you.. thank you thank you thank you!” well folks… Day 3!”
The photo accompanying the caption pictures Danica holding a mini-white board with a great big smile. The message reads: “Day 3! No Talking. Soft foods. Liquids. Sore Throat. Light Headaches. Teaching Darrick sign language. Still smiling.” In a second photo, Danica has her fingers over her lips. Definitely no talking for now!

Chapel Hart finished AGT in fifth place
Chapel Hart are the fiery country trio who earned America’s Got Talent’s second ever Group Golden Buzzer after performing their original song, “You Can Have Him Jolene,” which is a cheeky answer to Dolly Parton’s classic “Jolene.” The buzzer allowed them to advance straight into the Qualifiers round, where a performance of their song “The Girls Are Back in Town” earned them enough votes to make the finals. After a performance of their original song “American Pride,” the group finished the competition in fifth place.
A viral sensation, the performance caught the attention of Dolly Parton, Darius Rucker and more. The trio appeared on Rucker’s song, “Ol’ Church Hymn.” Additionally, the Grand Ole Opry invited the trio to make their debut on their iconic stage.
Prior to AGT, CMT named Chapel Hart as part of their 2021 Next Women of Country class.
