  1. Adamazing !!! He sounded fabulous , the notes, the outfit, the song….excellent.

Did anyone else notice that Shaun White was wearing a leather jacket that looked like something Adam would wear? Cool !!!!

  2. o shit, that was GREAAAAAT,
I liked that he glammed it up and rocked – I have a feeling that it might be his next single…… I like it much better than IIHY, well we will see, so far WDYWFM is still climbing up….

  3. Great but it was really odd that they cut Monte’s guitar solo out, the one at the start that sets the whole song.

“Adam Lambert” is the #1 Trending Topic on Twitter at the moment. Palin didn’t even make it halfway lol.

  4. Lucky to have witnessed live. Video only gives a glimpse of how fabulous Adam looked. His singing gave a little bit for everyone…ballad, rock, glam, quality vocals. Wish there had been more…he left us wanting!!!

  5. aww thanks for posting MJ…and leaving in the handshakes at the end.

  6. Adam and the band were FANTASTIC on Leno tonight!! Loved the outfit, loved the song, and I LOVED the ‘rock’ wailing!!

Now it’s time for the ADAM LAMBERT INTERNATIONAL PROMO TOUR!! You guys can borrow him for a little while but remember….he’s ours!!!!

  7. I had to take time between the old thread and this one to watch the video. I am just thrilled with everything concerning Adam these days. Those boots were the most awesome I’ve seen. They went so well with his outfit.

On a different note–I don’t watch much television, so I don’t know who all those people were on the wall surrounding Adam tonight. Can anyone enlighten me?

Also, I watched the Leno show on the same tv station here in North Mississippi that Q3 and I had posted about not showing the Oprah show that had Adam on it when it aired. Perhaps that was just one of those things–or they realized they messed up big time after all the calls they got concerning the Oprah show.

  8. hgae: if the season 9 boys did take notes on adam lambert tonight it still wouldnt be enough…not enought paper 2 go around for all the notes :)

    bwhahaha

  9. With this song, music again, and soaked Adam can sooo rock the charts. he can get a platinum if u choose the right songs as singles, problem was the AMA fiasco with the wrong song, and then the quite mediocre ‘what do u want from me.’ but his performance kicked some serious ass. he totally killed it.

  10. Adam Lambert knows how to deliver a memorable performance. That’s my favorite performance of that song. I loved what he did New Year’s Eve, but this one outdid that one. He totally rocked. The band looked hot, all dressed in black. I can’t wait to see Adam live.

  11. The guy really is a superstar…American Idol has never and will never see someone of his talent again..

I actually don’t like Adam recorded…it’s alright…I’m just not yet a fan of the music he’s put out…but when he performs live…its just spectacular.

  12. On a different note–I don’t watch much television, so I don’t know who all those people were on the wall surrounding Adam tonight. Can anyone enlighten me?

At first I thought the kid on the left was Justin Beiber but I think they may be random people. But I am not the best just of famous people hehe

  13. Wow. I just keep watching this performance over and over. It just amazes me how within just a couple days between his Fantasy Springs concert and Leno performance, Adam can create two completely different vibes. I love his acoustic WLL, but I love this one just as much even though it is so completely different. What an incredible talent he is!

  14. Wow! I love that song! he really is something… and justantonio.. I agree with ya 100% He’s unreal live… THAT’S what made him famous and made EVERYBODY’S jaws drop with respect when he used his talent and range.. he doesn’t do that on recording.. but he’s still unreal, and I love this song, and performance.

  15. RT @hooplamagnet: Adam Lambert's WWFM went from #25 to #17 on iTunes since Leno!
RT @beanath: ADAM LAMBERT'S FYE ALBUM HAS MOVED UP 3 SPOTS ON THE ITUNES CHARTS IN THE PAST FEW MINUTES.

    Go Adam!!

  16. On a different note–I don’t watch much television, so I don’t know who all those people were on the wall surrounding Adam tonight. Can anyone enlighten me?

haha this is someone elses take on the people behind Adam

RT @jam2885: Adam Lambert had the pictures of human beings behind him on Leno to remind the viewers that he is not of their species.

  17. I was there in the audience this afternoon and the live performance was just jawdroppingly out of this world like the way Adam looked. Live long and prosper Adam!

What an amazing couple of days I have had, a weekend at Fantasy Springs Resort witnessing Adam’s first headlining gig and then Leno! My screen name is really appropriate lately!

  18. I’m the odd man out I guess. Adam does his thing and it’s a great performance, but honestly, it’s a really screamy and uncatchy, unmelodic song, IMO. Music Again has way more potential as a radio hit than this tedious song. Again, JMO.

  19. adamland, you know that you owe us all a RECAP from those events, don’t you?!!!!!!!!!!
(waiting impatiently, drumming fingers on the keyboard) ;)

  20. like i said before, i know sleepwalker is in the same vein as whataya want from me, but this is a sure fire-ryan tedder produced hit lol, radio will eat this up, i hope they release it after wwfm peaks!

and YAY FOR #1 TRENDING TWITTER TOPIC IN THE WORLD!

  21. ATTENTION IDOL SEASON 9 BOYS…

I hope you watched Adam Lambert perform on leno tonight to see how it really needs to be done!!! I thought the boys were okay tonight and then adam started singing on leno and I quickly snapped out of it and it made me realize how bad they really are. Adam Lambert is just out of this world!!!

  22. Wow, Adam really rocked it tonight! BB knows when to bring it and boy did he do just that on that stage tonight…

Amazing Vocal performance. When Adam is on, no one is better. Speaking in superlatives, I know, but I just can’t help it when describing what Adam did tonight… :)

  23. Live long and prosper Adam!

His jacket did have a kind of future Star Trek look to it. Loved it. And I’m a big Star Trek fan.

  24. Rolling Stone thinks Idol has reached the end of its run:

    http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/ … depression

Last season turned out to be a historic high for Idol anyway, thanks to the presence of Adam Lambert, whose insane energy rubbed off on everyone around him. Between Glambert, Allison Iraheta and winner Kris Allen, it had to be the most flat-out enjoyable group ever. (Let’s just pretend Danny Gokey never happened, OK?) But that was a lucky break, rather than a real turnaround for the franchise. You don’t just go out and find another Adam Lambert, any more than you go out and find another Simon or Paula.

I have been so busy and had to go into work at the crack of dawn in order to get to Leno just as the line was moving into the studio lot. I will write one tomorrow, OK? I still haven’t recovered from FS yet! The brain is still processing from Sat. performance as I was in the 11th row in the middle of the venue. Adam was directly in front of us!

Nope, I agree with you in that I don’t want this for his next single. I think it kind of drags too much to be a radio hit (speaking about the recorded version on the CD). …

But I really loved his performance tonight.

  27. Last season turned out to be a historic high for Idol anyway, thanks to the presence of Adam Lambert, whose insane energy rubbed off on everyone around him….You don’t just go out and find another Adam Lambert, any more than you go out and find another Simon or Paula.

I have been saying this since the start of auditions…American Idol will never be the same because of Adam…he was such a superstar on that show that anyone else that comes after him will only appear to be amateurs…it is depressing!!

Oh, and to keep it on topic, he totally rocked it out and I LOVED the outfit and the rhinestones…totally hot!

  28. I said Adam broke American Idol but people kept saying the show is more than 1 contestant.

How weird that WWFM would get a boost when that isn’t the song he sang!!! Lol

  29. LOL Hgae I quoted you off of twitter earlier, how funny

hgae: if the season 9 boys did take notes on adam lambert tonight it still wouldnt be enough…not enought paper 2 go around for all the notes

  30. Adamland, you are forgiven ;)
I am looking forward to your recap, you lucky you :D

  31. Adam Lambert performs a fierce and glammy “Sleepwalker” on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno tonight…

Did MJ just use the words Fierce and Glammy…. Ok check for pods around her house. :-) Thanks MJ for the link to the performance. He was stellar.. I am running out of Adjectives to describe how fantastic he is when he performs. I loved the vibe and his interpretation. You know Adam has said in the past and I have noticed he likes to plays with the masculine and Feminine side of his personality. At Fantasy Springs he was more Bowie and dressed more to his feminine side. And tonight he leaned more towards his Masculine side. But Both he sounds amazing. He is so on we could supply a whole city block with the energy he exuded. IMHO. Loved it Loved it Loved it!!! Did I mention I love it.

I promise to write 2 recaps tomorrow, just running on fumes from lack of sleep since Friday night. And I am fully aware how lucky I am to live in the L.A. area and be able to see Adam live so frequently. I kinda get embarrassed when I remember just how many times!

  33. You Adam has said it in the past but i have noticed that he plays with the masculine and Feminine side of his personality. At Fantasy Springs he was more Bowie and dressed more to his feminine side. And tonight he leaned more towards his Masculine side. But Both he sounds amazing.

To right I love how he can do that, its just amazing.
    Tour Tour Tour Tour Tour

  34. wow-i have tweeted the video to a couple of ppl that didnt no why he was trending #1 and they all said that he was amazing and they are now fans!

  35. Dankeschön MJ!
This hasn’t aired yet at the West Coast, I am recording it, but I was going to force myself awake just to see Adam. Now I can go to bed and watch it again in the morning on the big screen. It was fierce and beautiful, like Adam. I am always in awe, how he can draw me in and get all of my attention. I must watch his performances with my mouth hanging wide open all the times, cuz my husband always laughs at me.

  36. OK last one for the night but twitter is hilarious

BeachBunny2010: Hahaha I LIKE that! Lmao @peacefrogdesign Everytime Adam Lambert sings an angel has an orgasm~

  37. Greenhippon I know how you feel my boyfriend gives me no end of crap, but I don’t care lol

  38. God! I’m in alt! Listening to this after 2 hours of Idol dreck (with a couple of specific exceptions)….. It’s Madison Square Gardens vs. Major Bowes (and I’ve only seen YouTube excerpts of Major Bowes). Oh I miss seeing Adam every week! Something unique and interesting to look forward to. This year it’s hardly worth voting (though I’ve really liked Crystal and Lily very much). Thing is….how much longer will they be on? Crystal’s having issues with her diabetes – and Lily might be too outré to be considered bankable enough for TPTB to promote. Bummer all ’round.

  39. yep, Adam was definitely more in touch with his masculine side last night :) I loved his hair, a little like this cartoon character Johnny Bravo????? and “angry” make up – he looked a little like a Vulcan? or am I way off?

“yep, Adam was definitely more in touch with his masculine side last night I loved his hair, a little like this cartoon character Johnny Bravo????? and “angry” make up – he looked a little like a Vulcan? or am I way off?”

It’s funny you say that, but someone else described Adam as the Romulan Commander off of the Star Trek Series. I loved the look, it had a Asian feel to me.

  41. Oh f#$%^&&**((((&&^%$$$#$#@@@ it!!!!

I’m at work and can’t watch!!!

But I put on the audio on really low volume and I am thrilled that it sounded so great!!! Also missin’ the guitar solo, but whatevs- this rocked out version of Sleepwalker makes the song so much better than the recording (which is earwormy and all, but so very cheesy…)- rock on Adam!

Can’t wait to get home and watch it properly!

And it’s cool he met Shaun White- they’re both kinda similar in their respective careers- huge over-the-top risk takers who excell at what they do!
Someone bring Adam his gold medal already!
Oh- wait! His album is gold and his single should be GOLD BY TODAY AS WELL!
    SO yaaay all around!

  42. My husband and I were watching Adam on Leno tonight and he said the same thing. In my hubby’s words, Adam looked very Trekky!! *lol* I absolutely loved his look and so glad to see him bring out the glam on tv. This is who he truly is and I don’t want him to change a thing. One thing I found interesting that my hubby said is that even IF he doesn’t go platinum with this album, TPTB had better hang on to Adam because the money is in his performances. He’ll make a boatload doing concerts because he is in fact a performer. That is where he shines the most. Anyone can sing on an album and be made to sound good because of technology (ala Taylor Swift) but Adam sounds amazing live as well and you can see the emotion he puts into every performance.

  43. I’m seeing the gay Frankenstein look with a touch of the lizard king.

  44. On the west coast here and just saw Adam’s performance. Although I have been reading all of your comments about it all evening, I stoically held off on watching the youtube vids of it so that I could see it first on the big screen. Holy moly, he was fierce and that was awesome! He looked fantastic and sounded incredible. Dang, can this guy get any better? Loved loved loved it.

And mr… I had totally the same reaction as you when Shaun White was talking– seeing the parallels between Adam and him: Both crazy risk-takers who have the goods to absolutely nail their performances and leave us all shocked and awed.

  45. I’m not sure the label makes any $ from live performances although probably 19 does. I think the label gets paid from the sales of music only. So obvioulsy Taylor Swift is more valuable to them than any great live performer. :)

  46. Amazing performance. Adam looked amazing, too.

    Just a few observations:
    loved the military-inspired jacket
those boots are off the chart
    missed Lisa on keyboard :(
never noticed Adam’s sparkly ear thingies before
loved the handshakes at the end
missed the guitar solo in the middle of the song
    but loved this performance anyway!

  47. Thanks for the comments to my inquiry about those likenesses on the wall behind Adam. Glad I wasn’t the only one who didn’t recognize them. Until further notice, I will assume they are photos of human species placed (as mentioned) for the purpose of contrast. You know, actually Adam, Tommy, Longineu, and Monte are each very “different looking” in their own ways–fine specimens of mankind. Each standing out from the others–yet just looking so much like they belong together. Hopefully the new keyboardist will match the group lookswise. I think she will.

Looking forward to Adamland’s recaps. I had decided to take a hiatus from the computer for a few days and get some work done. But, thanks to Adam, I’m still hanging around here and hanging onto every word from or about him.

  48. am I wrong, or is Adam wearing some kind of gaiters on his shoes? half-leggings? I don’t know what they are called?

  49. AFHSIFHSDIFHSDIF
    fsjbdjbgd

    oh my goodness.

i dont have words that performance was UNBELIEVABLE.

  50. From a technical level, I don’t think there’s a male pop vocalist right now that can hold a candle to Adam. Add the emotional depth, the stunning good looks, the showmanship and the likable personality and you have a global superstar. AI won’t find another one because they only come around once a generation.

  51. well, to think that some haters will yet again call it shrieking :( (not talking about anybody from here, just generally)

  52. He´s a showman, so full of energy and I´m really really happy that he gets to do this now. It must have been very frustated for him…having all this energy, criativity and not being able to let it go fully. He just keeps getting better and better! And I really think that SW should be his next single!
And I want those boots! :)

  53. agathe.hb, I had earlier thought those were boots he was wearing and that they were awesome boots. After your comment, I went back and looked–I believe you are right. I think they are as you thought, but I don’t know what they are called either.

I am satisfied that another Adam moment has gone well as planned and that now I can go to sleep. Gone.

  54. Oh I just read renataamelo’s comment about Adam’s boots. Wonder if we will ever know if that’s boots or otherwise!

  55. Ceddies, they look like Star Treck leg warmers? I don’t know, but I loooove his outfit :)

  56. adam: …Let me out of this dreeeaammm!
tommy: …Let me out of this circle thinngg!

  57. tommy;s circle.. thats exactly what I was thinking. It reminded me of my daughter’s preschool and their ‘circle time’ spots.

  58. Awww the beauty of HD. Does Adam have a new piercing at the top of his left ear? I think thats new.
I hope that he won’t have too many piercings, though – like in his nose or eyebrow – he is too cute for that ;)

  59. Esqt:

adam: …Let me out of this dreeeaammm!
tommy: …Let me out of this circle thinngg!

    that’s too funny :D
Tommy did look a little like a caged animal, circling back and forth lol

  60. Performance was good.
He still needs to work on pitch when going into falsetto – something I thought was a fluke on Mad World during Idol.

Whats the name of the writer of this song? She must have been chaotic last night, if she saw it. Amee or something.

  61. I think they are a Glambert version of spats. They aren’t legwarmers because of the strap under the shoe.

  62. rs, thanks :) I was looking for this word – spats
so they could be called Glamspats? or something like that?

  63. Fantastic performance, Adam! Really beautiful. The sparkly ear pieces were a nice touch… it’s the little things, ya know… :-)

I don’t understand the pitch comment with respect to Mad World, but he did sound a little shaky to me at the start of this one. Nerves, I’m guessing. But it didn’t take long for him to settle in, and then he really brought it home! So I’ll forgive him a second or two of feigning humanity. Keeps us all believing he could be one of us, I mean it IS possible… ;-)

Aimee Mayo and her husband, along with Ryan Tedder. And yep her twitter flailing was sweet (she’s friends with Pickler and tweeted her first to squee together LOL). Although I don’t think Sleepwalker is for sure the next single like she’s assuming, I think they’re still testing songs, I think they’ve still got some time till WWFM peaks.

This is a DREAM come true. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ol5jQjEimSw I’m probably still gonna be watching it when the sun comes up : ) : )
about 1 hours ago via web

It’s 4:11 am- still awake w/ a racing heart. if i live 2 B 100 yrs old- i will NEVER forget the way @adamlambert sang “Sleepwalker” tonight!
about 1 hours ago via web

@kelliepickler I love you Pickles- I wanted to share this with u cause you are the best friend anyone could ever ask for. I am so excited!!
about 4 hours ago via Tweeterena in reply to kelliepickler

@kelliepickler I am freaking-I think I have the new Adam L. single. He played it on Leno. Found out at the Palm & I started screaming!!!!!!!
about 4 hours ago via Tweeterena in reply to kelliepickler

  66. Yeah Aimee Mayo, thank you saga.

weareallinnocent, Im sure it was just that, nerves. It normally happens when you dont have a note from an instrument to work with, even though the synthesizer was playing, it wasn’t the note he needed to go by. Once the full band got going he caught it. On Mad World during Idol he was hunting to catch the backup singers. Very brief though, Its normal. It happens

  67. The song: Not crazy about it. He sung it fine but just not my cuppa. Its a little too screamy for me but that’s his style and it’s obviously working for him.
The look: I still like his look on idol better. I just don’t like the glitter and Wham hair.
The performance: No denying the dude can work it when he’s on the stage. I’m sure he’ll put on one hell of a show for his fans when he tours.

  68. Rub, you seem to know what you are talking about, so I have a question – what’s with Adam and the ear pieces? he tends to take them out completely? why do you think that is? Is he able to hear himself after he takes them out?

  69. NO ONE in the industry can sing that song except for – way too difficult. I STILL can not believe that he had to go on AMERICAN IDOL to be discovered.

  70. Hovering above is the starship Sparkle from the planet Fierce.
Fierce ones have delivered our, out of this world, glitter god in all his glamorous splendor, by beaming him with special security circles along with his glowing bandmates.

It has been reported there could be a chance of Kidnapping of the most special of all glitter Gods by the glam loving phillipinos…,
the Slippery Silk Gang conspireing with the Shineing Crown Jewels of theDastardly UK. The circles will prove a unpenetrable singing and music circle light zone.

Oh Damn….Jay Leno with his talk show lazer hand shaker has disrupted the gleam and, and, and THIS is a nightmare!!! the
phillipinos will have him in their Earth Bird in a twich, as I see
a possible gang member approaching, and OH NO, extending the hand that will snatch him from us!!!!

    WAKE UP! WAKE UP Fool!!!!
DANG, that was so real!I need to remember my meds,….cause I’m
    Crazy for him…Yeah!!

  71. agathe.hb, I really don’t know much.
In-ears are monitors to listen to themselves when a great deal of things are happening at the same time. I believe Adam (and Allison does it too) takes them off to feel the band better and perform with feeling. And, those things are uncomfortable as well.

The old floor monitors were better, but the risk was losing your hearing and live with a “hiss” in your ears for the rest of your life like some rockers in the past are living with today.

  72. Rub, thanks, ouch that sounds painful :(
but what about the rest of the band? don’t they need those plugs too to protect their hearing? I know I would go deaf probably in a month or something :/

  73. Adam can sing BUT for me I just don’t get it? I guess cause I was young a long time ago and this all seems like a flashback to old glam rock and just an act?(as in retro)…To me, Adam appears to be playing “dress up” and playing the part of a “style” of rocker and using all he has to give a great performance and does, of course- I agree-deserve the best actor TONY for this Broadway performance for the “character” he is playing! He does it well and worthy of all the praise for that….but that is what it seems to me,a role…just an act!

  74. The band use ear plugs. I remember Jeff Beck having ear problems from exposure to high SPLs(sound pressure level) The floor monitors are still there, but the in-ears are leveled right for hearing without damage. Another guitarist with hearing problems is Michael Jackson’s best guitarist of all time Jennifer Batten(arguably) she suffers from a non-stopping “hiss” in her ears for not using earplugs all the time.

  75. Rub, how can you say that you don’t know much – that sounds like you know plenty on the subject. Thanks :)
It must be terrible to have such hiss all the time, that’s a high price to pay for being a rock musician….

  76. tommy;s circle.. thats exactly what I was thinking. It reminded me of my daughter’s preschool and their ‘circle time’ spots

That’s where Tommy belongs then he doesn’t distract from anything else. He’s back with the rest of the band and Adam is being the star.

Interesting look. It looked like Adam’s hair got caught up in a windstorm and didn’t come back down. The outfit was a 1000 percent better than Fantasy Springs I’ll say that! Vocally he was fabulous but overall not my favourite tv appearance by Adam. Sleepwalker just doesn’t do it for me. IIHY please!

This glam, dress up style is how Adam has lived for the last ten years. I guess I don’t understand how this is considered an “act”. This style isn’t something he just came up with for Idol. This is him….this is how he’s lived and what he loves. Have you seen pictures/performances of Adam during the last 10 years? You can’t fake that in my opinion.

  78. Okay- so my boss went away for the afternoon, and I immediately tackled my computer- and thanks for that HD version, crazedemcee- and oh maaaaaaan!

He was boooo-teeee-fuuuulll! He was sparkly, and definitely “Spocky”! Way cool!

And did you guys notice how he sang “You’re everything that I want” in his FULL CHEST VOICE and not in falsetto??? Do you know how hard it is to sing high notes without going into falsetto?? This, ofcourse, is not a surprise that he can do it- but he still amazes me every time…

He was really glorious, and the outfit was hot as hell (or space… heehee)

You guys aren’t watching David Cook cross Abbey Road right now? http://www.abbeyroad.com/visit/#

No. I’m watching Adam’s performance on Leno.

I’m not sure about Adam’s look last night. I’m not feeling the Jimmy Neutron hair (I think that’s the cartoon character), loved the rhinestones, wish the eye make-up wasn’t so dark so we could see his eyes better. Too much black mixed with too much dark blue….I don’t know…kind of made his eyes disappear a little. His eyes are too beautiful to disappear. Anyway, better me having some issues with hair and make-up than with his singing.

Although his look always comes in second to his voice.

I don’t consider Adam’s on-stage persona any more of an act than anyone else who has ever dressed up to perform, such as David Bowie, Elton John, or Kiss. Those entertainers were quite different in their casual day-to-day lives than they portrayed on the stage, but that didn’t make me think they weren’t sincere when they entertained. It was in their personalities to glam it up when they performed, just like it’s in Adam’s personality to want to dress up the way he does.

Have you seen any pre-idol pictures? This is Adam, he just has a bigger budget for clothes now ;)

New piercing in the left ear? cute!

Some people dress up for performances, some don’t. But both are equally authentic to the performer.

  82. Isn’t all entertainers putting on an act? When they step on the stage to perform it’s an act and it’s to entertain. So confused why Adam get cut down for it. The only person who does not seem to ever step out of the ‘acting’ mold is Lady Gaga.

  83. Adam did a great job. I loved seeing Sleepwalker, I liked his eye makeup and outfit.

  84. weareallinnocent, Im sure it was just that, nerves. It normally happens when you dont have a note from an instrument to work with, even though the synthesizer was playing, it wasn’t the note he needed to go by. Once the full band got going he caught it. On Mad World during Idol he was hunting to catch the backup singers. Very brief though, Its normal. It happens

Yup noticed he seemed a little lost in the beginning as well. He sings several songs where he just start at such a weird range, it’s not where you expect it to be (Starlight).

  85. Like Bowie and Freddie, before him, we will always be able to tell Adam’s performances apart because of his change ups via songs, styles, costumes, makeup and persona. Even during the idol tour when the costume was the same we can tell which performance it is just by his moves and his actions. This takes real talent to be this diverse each time he comes out. (not like some performers who seem to be carbon copies of themselves time and again).

And just like on the Idol show…half the fun with Adam is to see who shows up for the concert. Adam is, by his own definition, a chameleon…and aren’t we lucky he is. It’s like watching a brand spanking new performance every time he hits the stage. Peeps are going to be broke…not only via concert visits, but just by buying CDs to record all his visual performances from you tube and other sites…and buying likes more storage space and ram on the old PC to keep track of all this visually delicious stuff.

  86. That was an awesome performance from Adam. He can do no wrong in my book.

  87. agathe- I’m not crazy about too much piercing- but I actually find eye-brow peircings to be really sexy for guys… so I wouldn’t mind it on Adam…
Not that I would really mind anything on Adam (or off Adam, lol)- he’s just a glamorous delightful creature in anything…

  88. Tess, I could not have said it better :)
I think this is what AI jurors have in mind when they say to contestants that they should “interpret” their songs :)
    they should learn from Adam

I do get it.. now. I came of age literally just after glam rock. I didn’t get it at the time, nor did I get androgyny. I was too busy trying to figure myself out, let alone figuring out someone else’s reality. Anything like Glam was before me and beyond me. Now today years later it makes sense and it is new to me.

For me, Adam is a breath of fresh air. He may not be the ‘end all be all’ of pop, but at least he is different than what is already out there. Lets face it music isn’t what it used to be and is waiting for an innovator. Now the odds are that it won’t be Adam, but maybe it will be someone new coming up behind him. Someone with a spin on what he and Lady Gaga are doing. IDK All I know is that 15 years Kurt Cobain changed music & was really the last innovator to have a huge impact on commercial music IMO. He started a wave of new acts. Sadly, much of the innovation is gone now, and we’ve gone from Nirvana -> NIckelback. Belch.

With regards to dress up. In my mind, Adam was playing dress up at audition time. A worn t shirt, hoodie and no eyeliner, that is not him. This was playing dress up. How else would he get an audition or be seen a rocker in the world of Nickelback clones?

  90. koshka, I almost spit my coffeee :D
I just imagined Adam coming to the audition dressed like he was for the Springs Casino Concert – hat, feathers and all – lol, Simon would probably have had a heart attack right then

I have to agree with Tess, it’s interesting that you never know how he’s going to perform any one particular song. He keeps changing it up in some form or another, style and/or vocals. That adds to the charm, even though I may not always prefer it to the original, it is still very entertaining. Most of the time it’s a mood thing for me. But one thing for sure remains that I find Adam extremely entertaining and that, my friends, is what performers are all about -the entertainment. I am drawn to Adam the Performer and to Adam the Person, there is a big difference and I hope it stays that way.

  92. I cannot stop watching this….I love this song even more than before.

  93. Not my favorite hair, lol, but I loved this performance. Sleepwalker is a great song, especially live. I think it will be released as a single at some point. Adam is a lot of fun. He always surprises, and you just never know what to expect.

Exactly. And I guess I understand why people make the comment that he’s an “act” right now and they feel he’s a poser. Most people have not heard every interview and watched every video of Adam during the last year. I really feel like many of us have seen more of Adam in photos and videos than his own mother has. So we understand that the Adam on stage today is undoubtedly the real Adam. He’s definately an anomaly, a real throw back to the 70’s with some futuristic fashion thrown in for fun. :)

  95. So which persona will Adam present when he goes on Idol later this season? Do you think the producers will have any say in the matter?

  96. This was a great performance. The live version of this song is better than the recorded version! I hope this performance increases his album sales. I want him to be as close to platinum as possible for when he goes on idol later this spring.

So which persona will Adam present when he goes on Idol later this season? Do you think the producers will have any say in the matter?

Hell no!!! The producers will stay out of it, just like they let him do as he pleases on idol! I’m sure they LOVE it that he knows exactly who he is and what he wants his look, sound, staging and lighting to be. It makes their job so much easier! I’m sure they prefer it to puppeteering all kinds of clueless folks.

So what persona will he be wearing on idol? Hmmmm… who knows, right?? I’m supposing it’ll have to do with which song he’ll be singing, and probably will be different than the performances that immediately preceeded it, because he likes mixing things up… too far off to tell, I think!!
We’ll have to enjoy the international promo first :-)

  98. That was all kinds of Awesome! My first impression was Glittery-Gumby-StarTrek. Then, he opens his mouth and it just all turns into Glory! :) Go, Adam–way to rock that crowd and those rhinestones!

  99. rs, that’s a good question, but I think that producers want Adam to stand out – I loved the way he looked on SYTYCD – original yet classy. I am sure he knows how to dress for the occasion – pretty sure there will not be any boa or feathers or fishnet stockings ;)

  100. So which persona will Adam present when he goes on Idol later this season? Do you think the producers will have any say in the matter?

maybe his new single? I doubt it will be WWFM. He seems to be singing other songs than that now.

  101. It’s probably a good bet he’ll be performing his next single on Idol…whatever it will be. One thing is for sure…those contestants better buckle themselves in because he’s going to blow their asses off the stage otherwise.

  102. No telling what he’ll wear or sing on Idol. Always keeping us guessing! I wonder if the band will be on. Camilla tweeted last night she was there watching Leno, I think she’s gonna be a great addition. She was tweeting about glitter, lol.

He’s just being Adam. Whichever Adam is the Adam of the performance. I love how someone can have so many sides and looks.

I hope he gets some sleep on the flight to Australia! No confirmation on Mardi Gras yet? If he’s performing, there is going to be a look, for sure!

  103. BootStar, I think that people who know Adam from AI only, might agree with you – but if you watch his pre-Idol videos, you will see that Adam really toned it down for Idol and now he is going back to himself, as others have already metioned in this thread. I am quite sure not everybody will like “this side” of Adam :D That’s why he is so polarizing

  104. Great review from the Miami Herald on last night’s performance:
(BTW, this reporter didn’t even like Adam last year on AI)

    http://miamiherald.typepad.com/idol_watc….er-on-leno.html

Idol, why, oh, why can’t you have found one guy 1/10th as interesting and gifted as Adam Lambert this season instead of this batch of wimpy, nervous banalities you’ve thrust upon us? Love or hate him, at least Adam carries himself like a pop star and isn’t afraid of the cameras. Most of Tuesday’s 10 Idol men all looked so relieved when they finally finished singing. No pleasure at all in any of those performances.

My input: Because a singer and performer like Adam is a rare find! Keep looking AI! :)

Nice article and thanks for posting. He is changing some minds in his favor. He was really great on Leno last night. I agree with someone who said this version is better then the studio version.

  106. Adam Lambert vastly entertains me, again.

LOVED the intensity of this performance, the power of his vocals (tongue comes out, craziness ensues), the rock from the band (missed Monte’s solo – but will see it one day live). Loved the futuristic, space-y, swirl-y outfit, the Star Trek alien looking make-up, and the band’s matching black outfits.

And I equally love Adam’s sweet, friendly ‘thank you, thank you” personality in the after show hall interview – natural, nice, and normal, equally as true to him as the steely-eyed, in control, powerhouse HBIC performer he was on stage.

As for who the “real” Adam is:

    “All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
    They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts.”

    – “As You Like It”

“Who are YOU? Who ARE you? WHO are you?”

    – “Down the Rabbit Hole”

  107. It’s probably a good bet he’ll be performing his next single on Idol…whatever it will be.

Well I hope it’s not Sleepwalker. He has much better upbeat material on this CD.

  108. I am so thankful for DVRs so that I can bypass Sarah Palin and get right to Adam!!!

  109. Nothing is worse than a constant stream of plaid shirts and ill-fitting vests and 3 day old scruff.

So, you watched last night’s two hour American Idol snorefest? LOL!

  110. I liked that! I hate that Leno got mad ratings last night though. Ugh, Team Coco! I’m sure it’ll die down, but I’m hoping Letterman beats him soon.

  111. Blech. He’s starting to transform into a caricture of himself.

I’m sure that’s a very accurate and widespread response when it comes to viewers/listeners who don’t like the Adam “theatrical” (for lack of a better word) style and approach.

But the thing is — he is who he is and he was never really going to win over as fans people who don’t have that taste, in any case. I guess it was easy to ignore who he was on Idol, since he toned it down there so much. But I think he had to do that to finish high — and whether that constitutes unfair audience deception or not, I don’t know, but I am sure that, for the sake of his own career, he did want to finish as high as possible!

Since I like the theatrical style, I’m perfectly happy with him just playing around with it and going for it. So to me he’s only acting like himself, not morphing into anything. Lots of artists look like caricatures to those whose taste runs wholly to simpler performers. I actually like both the theatrical and the very simple, but I know that a lot of people don’t! Adam’s going to be a niche taste, no doubt about it. But then most people are, in the end, anyway.

  112. Well, I’m not a fan, but I thought that was a good performance. Just my opinion, but I didn’t think there was anything throw-backish about it. I thought he did a good job.

  113. .
For me, Adam’s VOICE trumps all.

Blech. He’s starting to transform into a caricture of himself.

See, I don’t get this… The clothing, hair and accessories really don’t impact how I feel about Adam, either way… That being said, I think it is a blast watching him change-it-up!

    SNIP

I actually like both the theatrical and the very simple, but I know that a lot of people don’t!

    ^ ^ This.
Variety for me please… I get soooo bored with the same ol’ same ol’…. My iTouch has a gazillion different musical genres on it.

I hate those pictures in the background. I don’t get it.

It was distracting. Kept reminding me of my first job at Sears. I think we had pictures like that over the Juniors Department.

  115. Blech. He’s starting to transform into a caricture of himself.

Really? In what way? I thought that the performance was fine vocally, and he didn’t really do anything beyond that in his performance. I mean a few hand gestures and taking he mic off the stand, to move around a few steps, and that was it for that.

I wasn’t a fan of his eye make-up and hair, and those were a bit exaggerated, so if that’s what you’re talking about, that would make sense to me.

I was okay with his outfit, it wasn’t terribly flattering to him though. I think he would have done better with just some skinny jeans, leather jacket and cool shirt. But it wasn’t the worst of his outfits. At least there wasn’t any blackened dead squid perched on his shoulders, and he wasn’t wearing spats.

  116. Well I hope it’s not Sleepwalker.

Me too. Adam looked great and sounded great, but I really really don’t care for this song. Much prefer Fever or Soaked.

  117. lucy, I don’t think Adam was deceiving the audience, as he told Slezak, he was being himself all the time, that’s why they filmed him from the waist up during WLl, for example. He just interpreted songs he chose – and they were not so OTT, except for RoF. I think that his choice of songs and outfits also depends on the venue – he knows how to behave for which audience. The only mistake he has made so far with this was AMA – but he thought that since everybody else was over the top, so could he – BIG MISTAKE HERE, poor baby

  118. As for who the “real” Adam is:

    “All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
    They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts.”

    – “As You Like It”

“Who are YOU? Who ARE you? WHO are you?”

    – “Down the Rabbit Hole”

So true….and wasn’t it Larry Flick of Sirius Radio that made the comment about all of us really dress in “drag”? Who ARE we, really? Do we all present ourselves to others in an honest light? I highly doubt it. The fact that Adam has the balls to show us himself in his true colors is one of the many reasons I’m a fan.

  119. I don’t get the “not authentic, not honest” comments. Adam is perhaps the most authentic performer I’ve seen. What we see is who he is and has been for years. He is a visual performer. Strumming a guitar & wearing a T-shirt doesn’t make a performer “authentic”.

Anyway – that was a stellar performance last night! What a send off for his international promo tour!

  120. For me, Adam’s VOICE trumps all.

Bingo. You can be a fan of the voice but not a fan of the onstage persona. Many fell for the voice and persona portrayed on AI. The voice hasn’t changed but the onstage persona has….either you like it or you don’t

  121. It was distracting. Kept reminding me of my first job at Sears. I think we had pictures like that over the Juniors Department.

Well, given the amount of cash NBC seems to be putting into program development these days, that’s probably where they got them.

  122. I tuned into Idol last year solely because of Adam Lambert, but I knew then he would probably not put out an album I wanted (no top idol has). Incredible voice and performance skills, but not great songs. He is a bit of a self-parody; he needs to be careful.

  123. The first few notes were pitchy, dawg, but he pulled it together after that. Still, I was a little disappointed in the performance. I actually like Sleepwalker a lot (despite its having been written by Ryan Tedder), but something was missing for me in this performance. It did build up steam in the second half of the song. But still, even an A- effort from Adam entertains me, and that’s what its all about. As for the rhinestoned eyelids, I couldn’t care less one way or another. If Kris Allen were to appear in sequins and rhinestones, THAT would be inauthentic. Adam is a chameleon; that doesn’t make his various changes of color inauthentic. I don’t have to like every outfit he wears to like listening to him.

  124. lucy, I don’t think Adam was deceiving the audience, as he told Slezak, he was being himself all the time, that’s why they filmed him from the waist up during WLl, for example.

    Good point on the filming!

I still think that he toned it down from his real *preferred* performance style on the show — so I *can* see how some people are surprised and feel now that he’s changing from what they saw there.

And while that doesn’t bother me a bit, I do think that it leaves many people feeling they’ve been sold a bill of goods, with quite a few post-AI people, not just Adam. To take the example I know best, Elliott, for example. I think a lot of people feel that he was deceiving the audience by doing so much traditional R&Bish stuff and jazz and jazz standards on the show, when, post-show, he’s mainly done pop.

But they’re trying to place high on the show, *and* they have to perform within the parameters that are available on the show, and, so, many must feel that they have to make slightly different choices while they’re contestants than they would in real life. As an audience member, I’ve just come to expect that. But I can see how some would find it offputting in some cases, is all. In Adam’s case, I can definitely see that — because I think a lot of people would find his Zodiac/Burning Man persona quite offputting — and that’s a lot of who Adam really is, I think.

  125. Adam started out rough but it’s really hard to launch into head voice and control the pitch when you’re there but Adam recovered and I wound up enjoying the performance. I’ve found that I enjoy Adam most in the introspective dark moody songs. And Music Again :) So Sleepwalker works for me and I enjoyed his riffs. I’d buy Sleepwalker based on that performance but I already own it.

  126. Adam likes to dress up. It is just what he likes to do. Kinda like Dolly Parton does for country music.

  127. That was just wonderful – he is so amazing, hits all the right notes live. I am still on cloud nine from this past weekend, seeing him at Fantasy Springs and actually hanging out with Monte and Longineau on the 12th floor after, seriously! I was sitting next to Longineau and his girlfriend back in this roped off area thinking Whaaat?! – it was a surreal experience made so much better by the many people I met here, or on twitter and then there. But, I digress – this is just another version of Sleepwalker – different from the one on saturday. Adam is many colors and flavors and I enjoy them all – he will never be a boring performer, you never ever know what to expect, you know it will be great but you dont know what lovely version will it be until he begins. I was so happy that he sang Sleepwalker, it is my fav – om goodness – he is just amazing to see. If you ever get the chance to see him in concert GO – such energy, such joy – sigh

In regards to toning it down, go see him in concert where he is able to just destroy and conquer – TV does hold him back, not his fault, anyhow

  128. Yeah not getting the “self parody” comments. A parody in what way? It’s not like he started off with minor costuming and then started veering off to extremes. The guy started off extreme and has toned it down quite a bit. Even the Fantasy Springs concert was pretty tame compared to what he has done in the past (ACIGC and CTF).

I liked both the look and sound from the Leno performance, though I agree the set was kinda odd. Makes you wonder what the set designer was thinking.

  129. lucy, plus, as Adam said many times, he had a hard time deciding waht music to do on his album – he knew a lot of people wanted ballads, rock and stuff, but he also knew that to stay relevant he would have to do pop – so he kind of compromised and came out with a pretty good product – a little bit for everybody, which was actually quite clever – plus he can always change those songs up when performing live, which is his great advantage :)

  130. I don’t have the words to describe how truly fabulous Adam is an all-around entertainer. All of the extraneous stuff about hair, makeup, clothes…whatever; the man is just and incredible singer! The way he gives that song emotion is not fake; he’s feeling it and you as a viewer can’t help but to be drawn into the song. The line where he looks directly into the camera and wails “you’re everything I want, but you don’t want me” in my opinion is his expressing some of his own pent up angst over whether or not he will be acceptable for who he is.

He’s totally acceptable in my house; my 14yr and 8yr old sing along to every song on the CD.

  131. sleepwalker is one of my favorites on the album and he gave me the chills last nite..he sounded amazing and is the star i always knew he was and would be.

  132. “”He’s totally acceptable in my house; my 14yr and 8yr old sing along to every song on the CD.””

My house too, his cd makes us laugh and dance and have fun, my 12 & 13 year old, sing and dance to most of the songs, they are soooo funny. I took my 16 and 19 yr old to the Resort with me, just to hang out before and after and in the lobby my cute boys were approached by many ladies who loved Adam and were thrilled to see that teens liked him too, they wanted to go to the show but we couldnt get anymore tickets. They dont love Adam like the rest of us do but do enjoy some songs. My 16 yr old son was approached by Longineau on the way to the elevator, he walked up to him and slapped his hand, Christian is a drummer so that was cool for him. Anyhow, love Adam at our house.

  133. A fine performance, great song. This guy has such stage presence. I am turned off by some of his displays of attitude/occasional lack of class in things said off-stage but I do appreciate his talent and his CD.

Too bad the photos on the wall detracted from the drama of this impressive performance.

  134. Wow…critics, faultfinders, analyst…Adam, love you & your music…miss you in my living room every week, no AI season will ever top your season! Rock on….

    edit

  135. About the pictures on the set….the only thing I can think is the song starts…”I saw a picture of you”

  136. I thought Adam’s Leno performance was outstanding, and Sleepwalker isn’t even one of my favorite songs from his album. Still, and this is what I love about Adam Lambert, his performance helped me experience and appreciate it the way that he does- to see, feel, hear and live it from his perspective. And as is usual for me when Adam performs, I ended up feeling alive and andrenalized and wanting more.

For me, this is the gift of a true artist, to be able to reveal a view of, or a feeling about, the world as seen through his eyes.

In response to the “caricature” discussion, for me, Adam is completely true to himself in these performances. He interprets the lyrics sonically and visually, and so he is always creating a visual interpretation that changes depending on the song.

Costuming and staging are a part of his artistry; they are what keep his performances so fun and compelling for me, helping him create a mood and a vibe that flood my senses in the best possible way. I feel every little nuance of each note he sings and each gesture he makes, and it all interacts with and plays out against the background of the mood his costuming and staging is setting. I am completely carried away with whatever feeling Adam is bringing to life.

To me, this is true artistry. Adam’s visually artistic expression often takes the flavor of glam- fun and playful. However, sometimes he is vulnerable (Broken Open FS) or just plain sexy (WWL, Fever), depending on the mood of the lyric he is singing and on what he is feeling at the time. And it is always so spontaneous and in the moment. I never know exactly how the song will emerge, I just know I will love letting it carry me along its way.

That is why no two of his performances are ever the same, and why each performance feels so alive; it takes place in the moment we, the singer and the listener, are living it together. The song is born and then musically lives in that moment. Adam sings it to life. He breathes it out, and I breathe it in.

    I feel more alive.

I know not everyone feels this. Art is subjective, but when you do find an artist that moves you in this way, it is magic. Clearly, Adam Lambert is a magical artist for me.

  137. I know not everyone feels this. Art is subjective, but when you do find an artist that moves you in this way, it is magic. Clearly, Adam Lambert is a magical artist for me.

And clearly, you’re not the only one that feels this exact way. Excellent post.

  138. Lynne…well written!
Attention Adam lovers…Adam has been saying what Lynne put to type since day 1…..Advice; just enjoy him!

  139. I also like that WWFM has its own legs now, and that Adam doesn’t feel he needs to perform it on every television appearance!

  140. Adam was fabulous. He had soooo much fun and he gave it everything that he had. He puts his soul, thought and passion into every element of the performance. Those who don’t buy it are probably not ready for it! The backdrop was odd…it looked like a freeway mural in L.A.
What a compliment from Jay! (Team Coco…but I like the compliment!)

  141. Great performance, and I loved the look. Perhaps a little silent “hello, Sarah” in the choice to go extra glittery? Maybe I was looking for it, but it did seem like they were separating him and Palin completely…even in the backstage stuff. I couldn’t bear to sit thru her whole segment, but I don’t think she ever mentioned his name. And poor Shaun White gets the “you better be good” (as in, good role model to kids) admonishment from her. Ugh. Anyway, Sleepwalker did seem like a great choice in the end. Not sure what it matters, but Jay gave it the thumbs up as his favorite song so far. About that set? I’m just going to assume that was a Leno art department call…

  142. Got to see a bit of Glam Rock, and I love it, love every Adam performance. Never boring, totally entertaining, magnificent singing. Love the song. And there will be more songs in future to be seen-even the great “Dowen The Rabbit Hole”Soaked’Fever”If I Had You’ Strut’ ‘Music Again’ etc- some songs like ‘Whole Lota Love’ acoustic -wow. Adam is simply the best. so much talent. So creative. So truly magnificent.

  143. “I also like that WWFM has its own legs now, and that Adam doesn’t feel he needs to perform it on every television appearance!”

I really think Adam gets bored singing the same thing over and over. This is why he always changes it up each time. He also is soooo happy with the music he has produced (me too!) that he can’t wait to sing it live.

  144. So now I got home and could finally look and listen properly (volume WAY up)- and I have to say:

I know that this shortened version cuts off Montes solo- BUT- except for that- it was actually great, because it forced Zac and Monte to do the back-up vocals instead of that recorded track- and so it finally sounded completely live and authentic! I love all of Adams performances, but I admit that hearing his own recorded vocals backing him up is a little awkward… it’s much more exciting when the whole thing is sung live- just like it was great in the AOL sessions when you could actually hear Lisas voice backing Adam and blending with his voice…

So all in all- this was a great performance! Yeah!

And are we really still talking about his OTT clothing? Seriously??

  145. Reading through the thread my attention was drawn to the following comments concerning Adam, “deceiving the audience, been sold a bill of goods, self-parody, he’s starting to transform into a caricature of himself”.

I just have to shake my head because Adam is one of the most MULTI-TALENTED, MULTI-VERSITLE super-star quality performers to grace our planet in a l-o-n-g time! Then I have to smile and remember that Adam’s mega talent, charisma, and postive ‘smoken hot’ energy can NEVER BE PUT INTO ANYBODY’S BOX!! Thank God for that!!

    HAVE A JOYOUS DAY!!

  146. Lynne, that was beautifully articulated – I couldn’t agree with you more.

I tuned into Idol last year solely because of Adam Lambert, but I knew then he would probably not put out an album I wanted (no top idol has). Incredible voice and performance skills, but not great songs. He is a bit of a self-parody; he needs to be careful.

I think live performances are definitely his strength, but I love almost every song on his album, and I don’t think careful is in his vocabulary(nor should it be)!

I missed Monte’s solo in this performance – he rocked it OUT for the concert this past weekend, but overall this was a great performance. I love that Adam interprets the songs not only sonically but also visually – he did this with every song during his Idol run, and continues to do it in his live performances now.

  147. mr, IKR? I wonder what would people say if they saw him in his “cabaret” getup? platform shoes and all? lol :D
what I think is he has gotten so used to being around with really creative people,it’s hard for him to understand that there are PLENTY of people who don’t get his “shtick” I think he is learning as ge goes, but still tries to stay true to himself in the meantime….. Sometimes I think he has his work cut out for him :(

  148. That is why no two of his performances are ever the same, and why each performance feels so alive; it takes place in the moment we, the singer and the listener, are living it together. The song is born and then musically lives in that moment. Adam sings it to life. He breathes it out, and I breathe it in.

Wow. You just made me want to see him perform live even MORE than I already do.

  149. FREAKIN AWESOME!!!!! God I love this man!!! Loved his look, and yes Adam, I loved your hair like that, the wild look around the back just yum, the rhinestones around your eyes with the dark blue shadow stunning. Baby you looked devine!!!! And you were not pitchy….you killed it!!!!! I agree with the comments about artistry..the perfect example is you. You bring everything into sending the message of the song to the audience in the way you dress, your physicality during the song, your passion, tempo, et all. KEEP IT UP ADAM, “YOU’RE DOING PERFECTLY”.

  150. The way they cut up the song to shorten it did take a little but away from it, but Adam did great!

As far as people say Adam has a shtick or whatever. Adam spent years in the LA underground, Burning Ban ect. This IS how he is as a person. It isn’t fake or phony. He likes to have fun and put on a show! If you can’t get that then maybe he isn’t for you.

  151. I also LOVED the performance, he looked beautiful. He sure knows how to change his looks, its almost more exciting than his singing! I said ALMOST!! lol. Cant wait for the Australian videos.

About how he sings AROUND! It has been bugging me ever since I heard him sing it live. He doesnt sing it that way on the Album. Anyhow I have decided that when he sings it live in that way it sounds like he is singing Around with a ? at the end Around?. I dont know, I focus too much on some silly things.

  152. “””Then I have to smile and remember that Adam’s mega talent, charisma, and postive ’smoken hot’ energy can NEVER BE PUT INTO ANYBODY’S BOX!! Thank God for that!!”””

Amen to this, I thought I loved him before, now after concert – lord have mercy :-)

  153. Ok- in my expertese at lip-reading (not really, lol)I think I got what Shaun White was saying to Adam:

    “THAT WAS AWESOME”

I dare you to prove me wrong… :-)

  154. Miss Chaos, these are not silly things :) these are crucial and extremely important things – I have also noticed the change in tone in AROUND :D

  155. mr, I admire your talent in reading lips – I think he said just that :D

  156. I have decided that it is a shame that Adam had to rush to put his album out to capitalized on his AI success. (Now just wait hear me out) I love his album I have been listening to it none stop since it came out. I acctually don’t follow Idol and only heard about Adam the Monday after his AMA performance. That was all anyone was talking about and a friend told me to check him out on youtube and I did…boy did I love what I saw. hehe ended up buying his Album on its release date and didn’t even know it.(I have since become quite a fantard that I even post on AI sites cuz that it where you get the best Adam info)
Anyway back to his album. I have noticed marked growth in each and everyone of his performances on TV. Watching him sing WWFM in order you can see him really getting comfortable with the song and then taking it to were he sees it needs to be. (I have also heard him talk about when he performs most of the variations are made up on the spot i.e. the runs and stuff-I think this has been stated before many times).
It is really amazing to see his growth as a performer. Seeing him get to really know the songs and then experimenting with them live is truelly (haha can’t spell) amazing. Everytime I see him perform a song it makes me love it so much better. I wasn’t a big fan of WWFM until I saw him acctually sing it. Same with last night and SW (My god hehe).
So just imagine if Adam had had a year or so to put out THAT album. I am just imageing how flushed out all those tracks would be if he could have taken the time. hehe Though I am pretty sure my ipod would melt if that was the case cuz DAMN
This leads me to 2 things his 2nd album is gonna seriouly melt my brain and HE NEEDS TO TOUR LIKE RIGHT NOW!!!!!

  157. gah Sorry for the long post and bad sentance structure. And all the hehe’s (Adam turns me into a little girl sometimes….er ok everytime)

  158. smeggingnuts-

    I loved your post :-)

It makes me so happy to hear of people who only started to like Adam (or even only heard of Adam) after the AMAs… it kinda goes aginst all the doomsday prophets who say he ruined his career with that performance…

  159. mr
well you will be happy to know that I was monitering twitter last night after his Leno performance it was amazing. With in mins he was the #1 trend and stayed in the top 6 for quite a few hours acctually. And the response was impressive and think I only saw a few “don’t like him”‘s but that was in conjunction with but “boy can he sing”. I also saw a ton of people getting the “Oh wow I get it now” kinda vibe. It was awesome. People were pimping his cd all over the place as well as his WLL from this weekend. I have to say though the best twat I saw was one there they were compairing the guest line up. Someone called them “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe” hehe Floved that. (God I hehe’ed again *facepalm*)

  160. Kind of agree about the self parody thing.

He should have made himself a bit more scarce this year. There is a tendency among idols to accept every possible gig and interview that comes their way.

He didn’t need to do ALL of those post-AMA interviews. Could’ve left a little mystery in it. He definitely should not be doing things like the fashion police on Entertainment Tonight, even if it was fun for him. That kind of thing makes him seem like a B-list celebrity.

  161. So just imagine if Adam had had a year or so to put out THAT album. I am just imageing how flushed out all those tracks would be if he could have taken the time. hehe Though I am pretty sure my ipod would melt if that was the case cuz DAMN

I don’t know. Even for very experienced performers and those who wait years between albums, studio versions are pretty much invariably more tame and a bit homogenized than live versions. I really doubt that Adam’s album would have been all that much different, if he’d put it out later but with the same material. He takes chances on the album, but just not as many and as varied a chances as he takes in live performance, and that’s pretty much par for the course for studio material that you’re hoping to get picked up for radio play.

One great thing about Adam’s abilities is that they’ll make for a wonderful set of varied, fabulous *live* albums down the line, to be companion pieces to his studio albums.

  162. He didn’t need to do ALL of those post-AMA interviews. Could’ve left a little mystery in it. He definitely should not be doing things like the fashion police on Entertainment Tonight, even if it was fun for him. That kind of thing makes him seem like a B-list celebrity.

I don’t know. At least it makes him *some* kind of a celebrity. When you’re just starting out, that may have to be your primary goal, I would think. … If people don’t know you’re there, they’ll *never* buy your stuff, and hardly any appearance that I can think of makes so much of a fool of you that it might turn *everybody* off. The fashion-correspondent stuff didn’t turn me off at all, for example!

I also think of all the criticism Kris gets, contrariwise, for not doing *enough* awards show carpets and such …. Really, somebody’s going to be disappointed with and critical of these people no matter which path they take. So they just have to do what seems best to them, really.

  163. One great thing about Adam’s abilities is that they’ll make for a wonderful set of varied, fabulous *live* albums down the line, to be companion pieces to his studio albums.

Good point Lucy, It just must be my deep seeded need to see Adam when he performs live. I wasn’t trying to detract from the album ( I seriously can’t stop listening to it and I am not much of a pop fan). I really do think its one of my fav albums ever. We just need to get Adam touring.

What have you been smoking? You don’t sell any albums by hiding.

  165. Adam is willing to work hard to keep his name out there. He’s pretty much a realist & is aware that many former Idol contestants have crashed & burned professionally. He has said he doesn’t want to “fade away” – FAT CHANCE LOL. I commend him for doing what it takes to be a success in a cut throat business. And he seems to be having fun doing it. I know I’m having fun watching him do it!

  166. My local station was talking Idol this morning. They were mentioning Kelly, Carrie, Daughtry as successes and it took them a minute to come up with David Cook’s last name. They said ‘he’s not doing anything lately.’ This is not a slam on Cook from me at all, but this is the perception when you drop out of the public eye and strictly tour. Adam’s doing a great job staying visable. When he tours, he’ll drop out of public sight for a while like David did. I hope not for as long though.

I can’t wait for Cook to get back out there and promote again too!

  167. Though Im a huge fan of Adam vocally, I haven’t really liked but maybe one song of his till this point.

But, I thought this song was great. Perhaps his best performance on network tv I’ve seen. As a more casual fan, seeing somethin like that makes me think about going out and getting his album.

I have to say though the best twat I saw was one there they were compairing the guest line up. Someone called them “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe”

    LOVE that!

  169. Just got home from work and watched this again! Where has this man been the last few years?
Wrote this on the other thread…his tongue is back!! Not that it was gone but I noticed it out several times in this performance. He mentioned he saw familiar faces in the audience…many who camped out overnight. I’m pretty sure he’ll be seeing these faces (wish mine was one of them) for a long time to come….Like people following the Grateful Dead, Springsteen, DAve Matthews. Supportive, happy and I’m sure wonderful fans.
Didn’t it seem like there was screaming through the whole performance?

  170. Why would artists/entertainers/singers with product to push want to “make themselves a bit more scarce”?

Adam’s red carpet fashion report made sense to me because fashion’s important to him as a performer and it connected to his attendance/glove modelling(?) at Fashion Week.

(Anyway, tons of celebs “do” fashion – men and women – fashion lines, accessories, fragrance, etc. so I don’t think it’s “B”-list for him to explore that route a little. Also, I think his PR people would only advise him to do appearances they believed would end up being a net gain for him. They’ve got something at stake.)

  171. As a more casual fan, seeing somethin like that makes me think about going out and getting his album.

    Spark026
Yes!! You really should buy the album! It has so many good songs with great energy- and it’s really versatile! You won’t feel like you’re just listening to more of the same- each track is completely different…
Oh yeah- and I hope you like dancing, because more than half of the album makes you want to jump up and dance (at least it makes me feel that way… ).

    And then- there’s Broken Open.
Masterpiece, as far as I’m concerned. But everyone has a different favourite, so you might prefer something else… :-)

Wow- I sound like a loony, don’t I? Please don’t hold that against Adam, lol! Seriously, check out the album… ;-)

  172. He didn’t need to do ALL of those post-AMA interviews. Could’ve left a little mystery in it. He definitely should not be doing things like the fashion police on Entertainment Tonight, even if it was fun for him. That kind of thing makes him seem like a B-list celebrity.

A budding new artist just coming out of the AI bubble needs all the exposure they can get..the more the better, even if some of it is not so favorable. The win is that people are talking about him which translates ultimately into sales. It’s business. It builds momemtum and will hopefully fill the seats at the arena when they go on tour. We know that Adam can fill seats now and that would not have happened if he hid in a closet and “hoped” the AMA storm would blow over. IMHO

  173. Kind of agree about the self parody thing.

He should have made himself a bit more scarce this year. There is a tendency among idols to accept every possible gig and interview that comes their way. I disagree with you for a few reasons. One…if Adam had disappeared after the AMA performance than THAT would be the lasting impression that people had of him. He had no choice but to come out swinging…and when I mean swinging…he had to combat the false but rather loud perspective that he was an aggressive shock artist trying to mind rape everyone’s children. Adam’s great gift, aside from his voice, is his self awareness. He made a few little stumbles but overall, the AMA dust settled and Adam has managed to reinvent himself. Further, you don’t need mystery when you have substance. Adam is talented, has a great record to sell and by no means should miss out on opportunities to shine.

  174. um not sure this is the place to post this but its kinda funny
MTV Newsroom: ‘American Idol’ Contestant Alex Lambert Gets A Makeover Like The Other Lambert. http://bit.ly/aSep2k

  175. I FLIVE THIS!!!!!

OMA THANKS ADAM YOU MADE ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONG SOUND SOOOOOO GOOD!!!!!!!! OMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaa

HOW THE F&@K DOES HE JUST GET BETTE AND BETTER?!!!!?? even when he’s amaaaaazing!!!

did I mention I FLOVE this?!

    SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEFLAILSQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

    :D :D :D

  176. I totally agree about Adam’s doing the right thing by not hiding after AMA – a lot of people started admiring him for his guts after the show – that he did not apologize and did his thing and showed them how fierce he really was and nice at the same time. How many celebrities do whatever they take to stay in the limelight…. Adam is doing his thing, besides HE IS B CELEBRITY, even though I love him very much, he has a way to go to reach an A status (if ever – but I do hope he does with all my heart).

  177. Awesome! He killed it! :D On the cd, this song sounds very Justin Timberlake-meets-Duran Duran, but live he totally rocks it out. I kind of missed the guitar solo. I’d love for Adam to perform this on Idol, and get Orianthi up there with him to play her solo!!

  178. WoW-I rewatched it.HE LOOKS AND SOUNDS SOOO FIERCE!!!!

and lol Adam met Shaun white,.or shaun met Adam.yeah, let’s go with that…;)

A palin-Adam thing would be awesome

  179. why didn’t leno mention it went gold?

    anyway,loved it.again.

and bootstar, even though I’m an ott fan, I totally see your point..

  180. And then- there’s Broken Open.
Masterpiece, as far as I’m concerned. But everyone has a different favourite, so you might prefer something else…

Thats my fav slow song.. and funny that is the one he co-wrote. I think he’ll be a budding lyricist.

  181. I’m a big fan and I absolutely agree with this,

Adam is doing his thing, besides HE IS B CELEBRITY, even though I love him very much, he has a way to go to reach an A status (if ever – but I do hope he does with all my heart).

He is a B-celeb.. but the only way to make it to A is to get out there.

  182. I spoke with several people over on the AO site who were at the taping of the show and they said that at the end of the song Adam got a HUGE standing O and he was very overwhelmed and appreciative of the audience, and waved to his fans several times. And Jay, Shaun, and the producers were standing when Adam sang. They said the Adam fans were very vocal and their noise was actually edited out in a few places. I think it is safe to say he knocked it out of the park and gained a few more fans last night….I personally hope that at some point he will perform this song…the rocked out version, on TV in its entirely.

  183. Sorry for that ‘drive by’ post this morning. I seriously didn’t mean it to bait anybody. By “caricature,” I meant that, to the casual fan, it’s like he’s taking everything about himself that makes him distinctive (amazing vocal range, fantastic performance skills, penchant for “dressing up” and wearing make-up, etc.) and over-exaggerating all of it. Too much make-up, too much bling, too many vocal gymnastics.

I just hated the way he looked last night and, frankly, I wasn’t wowed by his vocals either. For a guy who is constantly being described as a “flawless” singer, he started off pitchy and his voice sounded very thin and reedy to my ears.

I’ve never been a fan of “glam” and I doubt I ever will be, but I loved Adam’s “Ring of Fire” performance. I thought it was provocative but also understated in its own way. That was the performance, in fact, that made me a fan of him as a singer. (I already liked the “Adam” the contestant.) Mind you, ROF is about a thousand times better a song than Sleepwalker, but Adam just comes off like a Gaga wannabe to me these days. I’m not saying that’s fair, because clearly the guy was doing this whole dress-up thing way before Gaga hit it big, but like it or not, most people don’t know that — or don’t care.

My teen sons find Adam positively frightening. If it were just the make-up or just the helium-voiced caterwauling at the end of every song, they’d probabably dig him but, together, it’s just too much and too campy. I defend Adam all the time to them, but honestly, I can’t say I disagree.

I said it all last season, and I’ll say it again: Less is more when you have his kind of instrument. Seriously, I think he should name his next album ‘Gilding the Lily’ or ‘Wretched Excess.’ I mean, go for it, if that’s your thing, but I won’t be buying.

And, for the record, I think it’s great that so many people love the dude, but he’s completely lost me. Don’t feel sorry for me, however, because I’ve replaced him with Matt Morris! ;-)

  184. Someone asked about Leno’s viewer count last night….

The “Tonight Show” averaged 5.8 million total viewers (1.6 A18-49 rating)

  185. this is kinda random, but ik watching snl right now,and I noticed jlo and Adam get booked very similarly.AMA’s, rockin nye(although Adam was cancelled) and snl( well Adam wasn’t booked on snl yet but I could happen.PLEASE)

  186. I don’t think he was pitchy at all. The only “flaw” I found in the beginning was that he nearly missed the entrance because of the new arrangement, so he speeded up the first verse. Other than that? Completely on beat and on pitch.

Appearance-wise- I will not be completely satidfied until I see him with full-on body paint and purple hair, ha ha, and if some people think that’s a caricature, fine. To me, it’s art (when done the right way, ofcourse- which from what I’ve seen in pictures- Adam excels at).

And to agree with something Tess said earlier- some people thought Michael Jackson was a caricature, or Elton John, or Bowie or Freddie.
But they were never afraid to embrace their inner “freak”, and neither is Adam (or Gaga, for that matter), and so kuddos to him!

But obviously- not everyone has to be a fan :-)

  187. WOW. That was truly an epic performance :)
the vocals were great…he looked great…for some reason his look reminded me of Jim Carey’s character “The riddler” in Batman Forever…lol(floved the hair, especially from the sideways angle)and yes the song was cut but they made it work…
I also loved how he pointed to the audience in the verse that goes “you’re everything that I want, but you dont want me” that was a nice touch…
I definitely think the smart thing to do would be to release this song as his next single…all the songs produced by Ryan Tedder do well on radio and this is def one of my favorites off the album :)

  188. Also, I think he was successful in conveying the mood of the song and changing the ambiance of the show with his performance…these days you sort of have to either be over-the-top or really low-key and minimalistic to get people’s attention…otherwise what’s in-between comes across as mediocre (at times, not always)…
I think when the audience knows the singer is in their element and is delivering a good vocal its like you dont have to worry about anything else, yo just have to sit and enjoy the performance because you know the artists is in control..thats what came across to me when I watched the performance…
he is a very gifted artist in that his voice is able to overshadow everything else, because he is that good…he doesnt have to compensate but rather complement the singing with the clothes, hair, etc…I dont think this is always the case with many pop artists these days, even Lady Gaga..she is so preoccupied with outdoing everyone including herself that she’s short-changing herself…less would be more in her case

  189. I have to say though the best twat I saw was one there they were compairing the guest line up. Someone called them “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe”

LMAO!!! Boy did that capture it! (I mean, not completely of course, but for a funny descriptive, that tweeter nailed it!) Thanks for posting. :-)

I said it all last season, and I’ll say it again: Less is more when you have his kind of instrument.

That is your opinion and reflects YOUR musical tastes. Some people like “more”. The “less is more” music of today bores me to death. I could barely get through the KA cd. I had to keep restarting and reminding myself to focus. But that is my opinion and my musical preference and my musical purchases reflect that.

If you said it all last season, then you obviously were aware of the fact that this is how Adam sings. He can dial it back (Broken Open, Loaded Smile) but Adam was never going to put out a cd full of ballads or without the rock wails he sang on AI throughout the entire season. Adam presented himself with this type of singing from the first song he sang on top 36 night. (Satisfaction)
    Nothing has changed.

I mean, go for it, if that’s your thing, but I won’t be buying.

That’s EXACTLY how I feel about some of the other contestant’s cds, and I don’t feel guilty about not buying their cds.
It’s your money and your time. No one should buy music they won’t listen to. For every person that bought a Taylor Swift or Lady Gaga cd, there’s 10 others that can’t get through one song. Thank goodness there is so much variety out there to choose from.

And, for the record, I think it’s great that so many people love the dude,

ITA! I’m proud to be amoung that group!

  191. There are no pitch problems. Go to a keyboard and hit C E D C for the Tedder beat opening then EEE GG A D for “I saw a picture of you”:

    I saw a EEE

    picture GG

    of A

    you D

…and if you have any ear you’ll see it’s right on the note. Hit a sharp or flat instead and you’ll hear what pitchy is. He finishes on a perfect A with “dream” before the riff. Right where he belongs.

  192. Someone asked about Leno’s viewer count last night….

The “Tonight Show” averaged 5.8 million total viewers (1.6 A18-49 rating)

I wonder if TPTB think Palin was the big draw. :) And I wondered if Adam’s hair/makeup was his way of making a political statement, knowing they would be on the same show.

In any case, Sleepwalker is my favorite song on the album, and it rips my heart out when he sings “You’re everything that I want…but you don’t want me.”

I love the interaction between Jay and Adam. Jay sure seems like a big fan.

  193. Noticed last night…no fingerless gloves. None at Fantasy Springs either. Means nothing. Must have listened to this 2 dozen times.

  194. hmmm this sounds interesting

sytycda @adamlambert! can’t wait to welcome you onto the #SYTYCDA set. I just saw the WWFM dancer rehearsal footage.. this is going to be AMAZING!

Does this sound like they are doing a number while he sings (like Dancing with the stars) or maybe the group number at the beginging??

  195. ok nvm got my answer

sytycda @AutumnAlston, correct! @adamlambert is performing with 6 x brilliant dancers, choreographed by the wonderful Ame’ Delves! 2NITE,8pm on TEN!

  196. USA Today reports that Leno’s show is the biggest 2nd night viewership in late night history.

IMO…we really don’t know if Palin had anything to do with it. Personally, I think not. She’s been on late night before…either Conan or Letterman. I think it was Adam. Of course I would think that!!

Can’t wait ’till we get some pictures or videos from Australia. I hate all the flying is is doing lately. Wonder if he minds it? I guess he has no choice! Why do they call Australia “Oz”?

hehe Well its wasn’t Palin that was trending #1 on twitter last night for hours:)
Let me edit this. He was #1 for a few hours then in the top 7 for a while longer

  199. MO…we really don’t know if Palin had anything to do with it. Personally, I think not. She’s been on late night before…either Conan or Letterman. I think it was Adam. Of course I would think that!!

I think it was all 3 guest that helped with the awesome ratings number. You had Palin, Adam and Shawn the Olympic Gold Medalist. But on the other hand Adam Rocked out Performance of Sleepwalker was the thing that was talked about the most. (maybe tied with Palin’s stand up. Maybe not)

I live in Miami and actually Adam was Howard’s favorite on Idol in Season 8. When he didn’t win, he was pretty upset and his column called America homophobic for not voting for Adam. After the Idol concert in Sunrise, he said Adam stole the show and even a month later could remember everything Adam did at the concert. Just clarifying. And Adam was fantastic last night btw. Just freaking awesome.

Well I happen to agree that sometimes I think that Adam can overdo it, and I think it’s his musical hamartia. Though I do think that it actually can be channelled into some really great things. ROF is my favourite Adam, and indeed AI performance evah (yes, even beating out my previous fave of Kelly’s Stuff Like That There) and part of what made that performance so amazing was a complete OTT, gilding the lily, vocal performance. So much so that part of that was just his doing a series of amazing notes. I said the first time I heard it that it reminded me a bit of the Cocteau Twins in that.

So I don’t think it’s really the instrument and going over the top with the vocals the bother me. I can’t of course, speak for you. It’s just that I feel that Adam’s material and his improv. abilities both aren’t up to where they need to be. As you say, ROF is a better tune than Sleepwalker, and I say this as someone who likes SW. Also there is the thing of Adam having more time during AI to rehearse what he wanted to do, to concentrate on just that song for that week. I think that Adam gets distracted, as he said, he was kind of hyperactive as a kid, and he gets bored easily. I think he needs better material to riff on, and more time to do so. I know that Adam thinks he’s good at improv, but he’s not. He is probably a creature of his theatre habits, and better with more, rather than less practice. Even with some versions of improv.

As too Matt Morris? He’s all yours. Not even if you paid me, could I care. :)

  202. “There are no pitch problems.
Right where he belongs.”
To swarm, you are correct. In fact, when I was re-listening to it today (because I loved it so much), for fun, I sang his riff right afterward to see if I could copy it (which I did, the first time, yay me, haha) and then went to the piano to pick out the riff notes for fun (I did, again, yay me), and he did begin and end the riff with an “A”. Haven’t had a chance yet to check the intro notes (I will, tho), but I’m sure those also were correct, since he did end correctly, and the pattern you listed looks correct. And thanks for the piano’s intro notes – I was looking at the keyboard to see what was being played & just hadn’t tried it out on the keys yet.

  203. I doubt Adam was the main draw. It was more a case of there being something for everyone last night. Shawn White—American icon and a fun guy. Sarah and Adam—polarizing celebrities with passionate fanbases. Even people who can’t stand them watched for the point-and-laugh entertainment they provide. The night was a win for everyone.

  204. I love ROF, but no, ROF is not a better tune than Sleepwalker. I adore Sleepwalker. :) I am in the less is more camp, but I have learned to love or at least try to accept all sides of Adam. I think it’s fun but I know it’s not for everybody! The performance yesterday was GREAT!!!!!!!!! The look was GREAT too. Of course, YMMV.

  205. “I know that Adam thinks he’s good at improv, but he’s not.”

In my opinion Adam is a master at improv. Just one example is how he handled situations on the Idol Tour where he changed lyrics “thats a nice chicken too”, played with “props” and even cleaned up something on the stage with his foot all while still singing. Vocal improv brings to mind the epic (to me) acoustic of WLL and his countless Upright Cabaret performances “something chocolate?”

    “I want to hear Voodoo!”
I just loooove this song. I can’t wait until it is available!

  206. I remember reading a really old article or interview about Adam in Wicked that said he used to stray off script with the vocals and alternate notes and got in trouble sometimes. So even then he got bored and couldn’t resist the improv..

  207. I find myself just laughing when Adam goes into OTT mode. It just puts a smile on my face everytime. *shrug*
I love his improve. Between that, his sense of humor and ability to laugh at himself I think he would kill it on SNL. I would acctually watch it again if he went on.

  208. Adam is the outstanding singer/performing artist of the decade. “Sleepwalker’ can only be sung by a brillant singer and Adam nailed it. Perfectly. He also looked the perfect Glam Rock Star that Rolling Stone named him. Pure wonderful entertainment, and the only reason I tuned into the Leno Tonight Show. Adam was the reason his appearance on the Leno show had the most viewers of it’s short season and the reason Leno booked him back for his first week on the new Tonight Show. Adam is magnificent. We are so lucky to have this new brillant, creative artist.

  209. the deluxe version of adam’s album is releasing tmr in singapore!! can’t wait!

  210. Adam is trending on twitter again! It seems to be because of his appearance on SYTYCD Australia! And apperently he performed WWFM with 6 dancers!
I SOOOOOOOOOO want to see this!

Australian fans- has any one of you seen it? TAPED IT?? Youtubed it, possibly, LOL???

Hope you can view this as sometimes we can’t view some videos from the US?
Oh & I need to warn you about the “Bonds ad” in the beginning- its loud!!

Oh here’s a You Tube version – not as good quality though!

    ttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfb96GeXtOE

  212. Oh thank you judes!!
Unfortunately- can’t watch right now (work!!!)- but waiting impatiently to get home in a few hours…
I’m supposing he was great, if he had twitter flailing consisting of mainly Australians!
And he tweeted his album is #1 on Aussie itunes!
Stage 1 in Adam World Domination is completed! Buwahhhaaaaahhhaaaaa!!

  213. Can’t edit- sorry the You Tube version didn’t come through properly so I hope the other version does work for you?

  214. Why do they call Australia “Oz”?

One of the more prominent terms to describe the Australian population as a whole is ‘Aussies’. While this may look to some people like it should be pronounced with a soft ‘s’, it’s not – it’s pronounced ‘Ozzies’. Which makes it entirely logical that the slang for Australia should be ‘Oz’.

  215. thank you zzatrms…came back to this thread to watch SW again. Glad I did.

  216. Yeah, I like this live version better than the album, which I am finding is usually the case. The reason, I guess, is that he is
always looking for new twists for his own songs, (some way to switch it up and seem new again)….He is so creative!!

  217. Oh I realized something the other day. The chains on his boots I think he wore those in the Slowride duet with Allison. I love how he recycles his clothes and uses them differently.
