Listen to a stream of Adam Lambert’s new album RIGHT NOW!

Please let us know what you think!

UPDATE: Wow.   The clips didn’t do the album justice–which is why I think reviewing 30 second clips is absurd, but I digress.   I’m digging quite a few songs on this album. Impressed! FYE NOT my favorite song, by a longshot.

Update: Thanks Kirsten, for getting this up early!

  1. Stunned. I love them all. As I said in the other thread, Broken Open is just breathtaking. But, there is absolutely no way I can pick a favorite. This CD is really everything I had hoped it would be, no words.

  2. WOW. Yet once again, Adam exceeds expectations. This is a KILLER cd.

  3. His voice is stunning.. I love all the songs, especially Soaked and Broken Open.

  4. I listened to all of them this morning, absolutely beautiful. I don’t think I can pick a favorite. They are all good. I can’t wait until Monday to get my own copy of this amazing CD!

  5. I am on at least my 5th listen since 5;30 this morning, lol. I cannot believe this album.

  6. So. Damn. Good. I can’t even believe it!

I’m trying not to listen to every song though. I want some of the album to sound fresh when I finally get it.

  7. I am only listening once (although I did weaken and listen to Sleepwalker twice )..can’t wait ’til Monday !!

  8. I wasn’t sure what to expect not long ago… but the full album is beyond anything I might have imagined. He gives us what we want (though we might not have known yet)… Wow.

  9. Is Music Again available for listening anywhere?

Forget it- It’s on Facebook- thanks Planet Fierce!

  10. The facebook stream has better quality than the myspace one and has all the songs. I’m an international and have a perfect access to both of this sites. So there’s no excuse for illegal downloading. I have to listen at least five times more to comment properly. Overall an incredible debut album that every single new artist would dream to have. Oh, and I simply want to marry Broken Open… Absolutely GORGEOUS..

  11. I have been at work all day, and so was able to listen to the album only once- but OH MY DEAR F****** LORD AND HEAVEN AND HELL THIS IS SUCH AN AWSOME ALBUM!!!!!
I even tweeted Adam (well he asked to know which songs we liked) that Sure Fire Winners, Broken Open, A Loaded Smile, Pick U Up, Soaked and Fever are the best songs I’ve heard for a looooooong time. And I wasn’t lying either.
I have to get home already and listen again properly…. and again and again…
Oh- and I also REALLY like If I had You and Music Again.
Actually, the only ones leaving me generally unimpressed are Strut and Whataya Want From me- but even they have something interesting about them… I still can’t believe he actually made music this good in such a short while- and Kuddos to all those who contributed!!!

  12. Sh**! And I forgot to mention Sleepwalker!!!! Which is gorgeous-despite-being-Ryan-Teddary…:-)

  13. It’s no secret that I’m more of a Kris fan, and Adam typically leaves me hot and cold (when he’s good, he’s great, but when he’s bad, yeeesh). When I first heard the snippets, I was underwhelmed. To me, it was Adam singing The Darkness, Adam singing Pink, Adam singing Gaga, Adam singing Weezer, etc. However, after hearing the whole thing, there are moments of total awesomeness here. Sure Fire Winners and Strut are pretty amazing. They seem to embody the kind of music Adam wanted to put out, and they play to all his strengths. I also like If I Had You and Broken Open. Not surprisingly, the songs written for Adam work the best. The rest seem like filler. Hoping they release SFW as a single.

  14. Adam was right, though the album is eclectic it is brought together cohesively by his voice and it all works so well together.

  15. “Is Music Again available for listening anywhere?”

    Follow link in comment 1.

  16. I am a big fan of TfM, but have to admit…it feels odd after listening to the rest of the album. Can’t wait to hear Rabbit Hole song!

  17. DLee: “I am a big fan of TfM, but have to admit’ ¦it feels odd after listening to the rest of the album. Can’t wait to hear Rabbit Hole song!”

I have opposite opinion. For me it is one of the 10 (thats right 10) standouts.

  18. Well produced, well sung. Broken Open, WWFM are the standouts. Kind of an 80s vibe through alot of it. Who wrote Broken Open?

  19. Man, SFW has so much going on in it musically, I keep hearing new things! I totally think there’s a brief but awesome homage to a famous rock riff — I think it’s Black Dog? Isn’t that the song that Adam performed in with the group for the last Zodiac show?

Seriously, I cannot pick a fave. It’s basically love at first sight with more than half the album, and the rest I totally want to be BFFs with. So happy that Adam got to make this music!

  20. This is a fun, sexy CD. Then there is the instrumentation, including Adam’s out of this world vocals. On one song, I was thinking to myself, only he could do this justice! I hear all of his influences, rock, funk, pop. He delivered. Listening to the myspace stream, will switch to the facebook for my second.

  21. ‘Fever’ is hands down my favorite (I love the funky, slightly syncopated off-center quality)’ ¦.though I must say – there’s not a bad one in the bunch. Fabulous from beginning to end! I have to laugh. This will be the first time I know every song on an album by heart before even buying the damn thing. It really makes me smile, ya know…and friends – there’s precious little to smile about these days. Happiness becomes quite the precious commodity.

I hope Adam ends up famous as all hell and filthy, stinking rich.

  22. I’m trying to listen to this while finishing an ASAP work project, but I really just want to drop work and focus on the music. I’m missing the lyrics, which are going to be so interesting and fabulous.

Gahhh! Oh well . . . . next week on vacation I have an 8 hour car ride coming up so I’ll get to listen to the CD repeatedly. That should be enough time.

    Back to work!!!! NOW!!

  23. I’ve read good reviews from Spin Magazine and The Detroit News. Are there other reviews from the press?

  24. Well produced, well sung. Broken Open, WWFM are the standouts. Kind of an 80s vibe through alot of it. Who wrote Broken Open?

Adam is one of the writers…I think with Greg Wells?

  25. I’m so jealous! We can’t get to Myspace, Facebook, or even the ilike streaming link from our firewall. If there are any other streaming locations, please let me know so I can try again.

But I am so happy to see such great reactions to his whole album. Yay!

  26. And I’ll add what I said on the other thread:
I laughed with glee while he homaged the remix of “Pokerface” in Fever! Did y’all get that “Fa fa fa fa fevah fa fa fa fevah!”

    Brilliant.

  27. OMG, OMG, OMFG!!! I love it!! So amazing. I can’t believe I have to turn this off and go to work and won’t be able to listen again till tonight. I can’t wait to get my hands on my CD to put in my car.

I love you Adam – thank you so much for the amazing music!!

  28. So does anyone else think that Sure Fire Winners should be played at the Superbowl (and any other sporting event for that matter). The Olympics are coming up. Rock anthem! Move over Queen, there’s a new rock star has arrived.

  29. I love this cd. OMG it is fantastic. I can hardly wait until the AMA’s to see him perform FYE. The Future Shop advertised that they will have it available on Monday. I guess I won’t have to go Walmart. :)

  30. Broken Open seems to have been written by Adam, E. Kidd Bogart and Greg Wells.

  31. I said this in the headlines thread- anyone know anything about this band? I know the drummer is from Yellowcard and Monte Pittman is from Adam’s CV days ( and Madonna’s gutarist). Anything about the other two? Weird that the keyboardist’s name is Lisa. Anyone remember Lisa Coleman from Prince And The Revolution ( Lisa and Wendy)? Can’t be the same, can it? I cannot tell by the pic- I know she used to have dark hair, and this girl is blond, and she certainly doesn’t look 50, but hell it’s still cool. that both Prince and Adam have that in common.
    http://twitpic.com/pukkb

That is one badass looking band, lol!

  32. I am in ecstacy! This album is amazing! Can not wait to hear it blasting in my car!

  33. Thank heaven and AdoK , THANK YOU !!!
I loved the “OUT” interview……Adam DID live up to ALL of my expectations and, then some and for some, TMI. I actually enjoy his honest and unfiltered
responses. If the Editor of OUT is telling the unvarnished truth, and not dispensing chitter, then I aplaud his outrage, and his courage,as this could cause damage for any further cooperation for the future.
    OH, The Music!!
Just literally Fantastic. This sound was so much better than the snips…….
    …Glory Be!!
To paraphrase janus….I would not be surpised if this album will garner a lot of attention and, possibly award nominations.
IMO, I would not be suprised if there are at least 7-8 hits.
Having heard these, I have revised some of my more luke warm impressions previously held from the snips.
A few of my favorites (can’t pick just one). Sure Fire Winners, Sleepwalker.
Broken Open,(haunting) Loaded Smile, Fever, If I Had You ,Soaked, For Your
    Entertainment,!!!!!!
    Thank you Mr. Lambert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  34. I am trying to work but not getting very far. I love so many of these songs I don’t know which one to listen to again.
mr.-I didn’t catch on with the Feve/Pokeface thing but I hear it now. Loooove this song. I don’t even know which one should be the next single. SFW has freakin’ amazing vocals! No one out there now can do this! I am hyperventilating- must calm down!

    Streaming Here.

  36. The PUU, Fever and Sleepwalker trio is a killer! Totally killer. Hope they release some of these as singles. Catchy AND special.

This CD feels VERY Adam. It might not be 100% my taste but I can’t deny it feels totally genuin. Kudos to Adam for creating this under the time contraints given.

  37. This album will be on repeat until….well his next album….

  38. I absolutely love this CD!! And I’m glad he was able to stay true to himself musically. I hope it does well for Adam. He deserves it! :)

Also, I LOVE the band pic!! I can’t wait to see them live on Sunday at the AMA’s!

  39. The snippets did not do these songs justice…..I can’t believe how good it is….there is nothing about this album that says “American Idol”….I hope it is well received beyond us hard-core fans.

  40. Well produced, well sung. Broken Open, WWFM are the standouts. Kind of an 80s vibe through alot of it. Who wrote Broken Open?

I’m actually kind of impressed with how well this is put together for a post-AI cd. Smart move singing Broken Open in nearly the exact way he sang Mad World. People who loved that performance on AI are likely to love this new song. Good strategy.

There is a lot of fun stuff on this. Fun, funky beats that I’m sure will make all my kitchen slaving during Thanksgiving a little more entertaining. My preference definitely leans toward dance-club Adam. Those tracks are without a doubt my favorites.

I’m actually not a big fan of Soaked. Sometimes when Adam slows it down a bit – he gets a little too Andrew Lloyd Webbery for me. But that’s okay. I totally dig Aftermath. I think it’s a really good song, and it gives him the chance to show what he can do.

I’m not usually a fan of the hyperbole, but sometimes I’m almost shocked at what Adam can do with his instrument. He really is gifted. All in all, I think this is a pretty solid cd for a newbie. I rolled the dice the other day and pre-ordered on iTunes – something I am usually totally against doing. Now, I’m pretty satisfied with that decision.

  41. Well, I said yesterday in regards to the outrage over the OUT editor’s flapping jaw, this too shall pass. Yeah, it passed all right….

This CD is fuckin’ AMAZING!!!!!!! Congratulations, Adam, for creating a Greatest Hits CD your first time out! Pick a favorite – no way!! If I had kids, I imagine it would be like picking your favorite kid (shhhhhh, Mom, don’t spoil the illusion for me!!).

The AdamStorm usurps Kris’ thunder yet again! Impeccable timing, RCA!

  42. I agree with you SpencerJ on Soaked. I guess we’re one of the few who feel this way, had a trouble with most of the songs Adam slowed down. But there is a lot to love for me here, I’ll take PUU as comfort.

  43. I find myself being drawn to Pick U Up.

And then “Fever” comes on and I find myself drawn to that song….and then “Sleepwalker” comes on and I find myself drawn to that song….and then….well you get the picture don’t you? I feel happy. I kind of feel like crying.

  44. Done with my work project. Whew!!

Has this picture of Adam’s band been posted? They look so fierce. It’ll be fun to follow them and listen to them play this great music.

Looks like Adam has got himself a pretty boy on bass.

That’ll be interesting. Where is this guy’s hand anyway?? LOL. The amusement never ends.

ETA: I can never get the links to highlight the right words in the text. I’m trying.

ETA: Ooops, looks like this was posted earlier. Gotta read the whole thread first.

  45. love adam, love the cd, my fav : Soaked, Fever, Sleepwalker, Strut … all!!!!!!!!
    amazing!!!

  46. Ahhhhh….and back to music again (no pun intended).

Just when things were getting political, personal, and “too deep” again. We get MUSIC. And f*ing amazing music at that. That is what this is all about, music right?

And I know people will be watching the numbers like a hawk but I officially no longer care. This album *for me* is amazing. I don’t need any numbers to validate Adam as an artist – this album just did that.

  47. It’s fun to see on My Space which songs get played the most.

Which songs? I live outside US so MySpace link doesn’t work for me. And I’m at work and can’t even use the Facebook link… So I’m living vicariously through you until I get home :)

  48. Gosh I love this album. Broken Open is WOW!!!, it may be my favorite, and I’m a sucker for heartbreak songs.

The snippets did not do these songs justice’ ¦..I can’t believe how good it is’ ¦.there is nothing about this album that says ‘American Idol’ ’ ¦.I hope it is well received beyond us hard-core fans.

Yes, I KNOW, so true, Damn I hope so!

Gah… Once again Adam has exceeded my expectations.

  50. I don’t need any numbers to validate Adam as an artist ‘“ this album just did that.

zuper-exactly how I feel. This album will gaurantee his longevity regardless of the numbers the first time out. I am just so amazed at what he has accomplished.
Adam, you have exceeded expectations once again! Congratulations kid!

  51. Have the names of the band members been posted anywhere?

And rowenaaine, the link to the Out Part 2 doesn’t work for me????

  52. I agree with you SpencerJ on Soaked. I guess we’re one of the few who feel this way, had a trouble with most of the songs Adam slowed down.

Ya know, I think that’s what’s good about it though. A little something for everyone.

  53. I don’t need any numbers to validate Adam as an artist ‘“ this album just did that.

    I agree!

  54. Sell enough to get album #2, that’s all that matters. And tons of dimmers of course. ;)

It’s a great debut album. I’m a happy fan today. Yesterday, not so much.

Broken Open is stunning, truly stunning. And the laugh at the end of Pick U Up makes me smile.

  55. Okay did we figure out which Led Zep riff was in SFW yet? I am thinking it’s Black Dog It’s at the 1:43 and 2:38 marks

I don’t need any numbers to validate Adam as an artist ‘“ this album just did that.

    I agree!

Me too!!! All the cool kids are gonna own this album, lol

  56. pick u up is the best. actually, u cant pinpoint the best from these great and awesome songs… nwey, congrats kris, but adam’s fans has lots of things to be happy today…

  57. I’m in the camp that doesn’t give a fuck about the numbers game.

Personally I think this album will be a slow burner but will continually sell as peeps get a taste of a song from somewhere. It won’t be a high numbers, fall off the charts album. It will be one of those that continually gets buys….I’ll take a look at the numbers and where Adam is on the music scene next October and then I will make my judgment at how Adam is doing.

  58. Eeeee! I don’t have time to listen to them all, so I listened to the one I was sure was going to be my favorite – “Broken Open.” Luuuuuuuuuv it. So gorgeous.

And Strut IS awesome. Good lord, Kara. Who knew you had THAT in you.

  59. The album is awesome. can’t believe how good it is. and that his band is hot, everyone of thm looking cool. can’t wait for monday to get here. the last hard copy cd i bought was celine titanic soundtrack but monday i am in a music store bright and early.

  60. Got to say again that once PUU, Fever and Sleepwalker streams its a party here. WWFM is really good too. And some of the others too…

  61. Wow. Just wow.

Also I still totally give a fuck about the numbers game, because the half of me that’s invested in Adam as a person wants him to be successful really badly, but the half that just wants great music is satisfied now :)

  62. The album is awesome. can’t believe how good it is. and that his band is hot, everyone of thm looking cool. can’t wait for monday to get here. the last hard copy cd i bought was celine titanic soundtrack but monday i am in a music store bright and early.

I love the look of his band – they have style. The dred – oh lord I love dreds!!! And I love that he has a woman in the band. His band is eclectic just like his album.

  63. love love love strut and sure fire winners….also music again and fever….oh hell, love all of it…ironically, altho I like it, my least favorite track is probably FYE

  64. I love every single song. There is no way I can just pick one that I love more than the others. Although, this morning because of the mood that I’m in, Broken Open has really touched my heart. As soon as it started playing, I just seriously broke down into tears.

  65. I’m pretty happy with this overall. I think there are some strong potential singles (“Whataya Want From Me” and “Sleepwalker” along with FYE) and there’s some appealing offbeat, quirky material too. “Pick U Up” is so adorable to me, lol. And the production on “Broken Open” is stunning.

  66. How cool would it be if they released Fever- lyrics about boys and threesomes and all????

    I need my damn headphones…..

Oh Adam, you make me want to listen to music again.

    Yes!

And you know it is strange, but somehow Adam’s music makes me listen to other music differently. Songs I have listened to 100s of times. Almost like listening with a new set of eyes ears.

  68. I have to admit when I first listened to Strut – my mind flashed the scene from Grease 2 ‘Walk like a ‘T’ Bird’ The tall good looking one in the tight jeans came to mind LOL – I love that corny movie.

  69. i really cant hardly pick the best among these awesome songs!!! i know it should be kris’s day however, u cnt live without adam and adam is just awesome and ONE GREAT SINGER!!!!!!!!!

  70. And you know it is strange, but somehow Adam’s music makes me listen to other music differently. Songs I have listened to 100s of times.

YES!! me too – so weird

  71. Wow! Broken Open is really stunning. I’m listening to it for the first time. I like it the best of the slow songs–even better than Soaked.

And then it just ends. Just rip my heart out Adam! People are going to stagger out of his concerts completely emotionally drained after experiencing all this awesomeness.

  72. Is it wrong for someone who has never met Adam to be so proud that I am dissolved into a puddle of tears over this album? Well, if it’s wrong, I don’t want to be right. That is all.

  73. not a fan of his but this is hands down the best debut from an AI alumni ever.

  74. Like many of you I am finding it difficult to pick a favorite song. As soon as I think I know which song is my favorite I hear another one and get all confused. I will say Adam’s vocals on “Sure Fire Winner” is frigging awesome. Don’t get me wrong his vocals on the whole album are amazing but SFW vocally is in a category all by itself

  75. But I highly recommend everyone go to thespindleshay’s blog to read part 2 of the Out interview. It’s terribly moving. I posted about it in the ‘Editor of Out’ thread.

Just read part two of the interview. He is uber-smart about show business, among other excellent qualities.

    Like this bit:

“Q: That’s always the question with Lady Gaga — how far is too far?
“A: I think she’s smart. I predict that she will experiment and change it up a little bit. She’s got to show a little crack in the veneer for the audience to really get a three-dimensional view of who she is.”

I love that he’s that thoughtful about the mix of artifice and reality that it takes to really connect with audiences and impart your vision on stage.

  76. Adam is right, there is music for everybody on his debut album. So far I like 10 of the 14 tracks.

Just from a sound point of view Broken Open is my first choice for several reasons:

This song demonstrates Adam’s amazing and haunting vocals. Production is top class- deep deep body-tingling bass, mixing of several sounds and intruments properly coordinated and controlled so as not to overpower the vocals.

And this is coming from a highly compressed sample. A CD will be much much better.

Can’t wait for the CD to fire up my home system. I could end up inviting my friends who are video and audio fanatics like me.

Will appreciate if the lyrics can be posted on this blog. Thanks in advance.

Bye. Back to work. Can’t pretend anymore that I am very busy working.

  77. Of the 2 links that I tried, this one is definitely the best:
    http://www.ilike.com/player?url=%252Fplayer%252Fartist_exclusive_songs%253Fartist_name%3DAdam%252BLambert&app=fb

    Squeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow. I’m really in tears listening to this album. Just amazing. What a voice. What great songs. I’m so thrilled for BB that he got to make such a great album. Can’t wait to see the performances!!

ETA: That laugh at the end of Pick U Up just made my day. LOL.

The guitar on Sleepwalker is great! Anyone know who that is?

  78. If I Had You has me dancing in my cube… damn they can’t keep me in a box today…

  79. I am most impressed that Adam could put together an album where no one can agree on which is the ‘best’… but agree that they are all (for the most part) good to very good.

  80. I really like WWFM, Sleepwalker and Broken Open. Fever is fun too, if I ignore the lyrics. Since I’m not that enamored with Adam’s voice, I’m having trouble getting past the lyrics in a lot of the songs. (especially the beginning of If I Had U (something about wearing the right amount of leather and eyeliner, lol).

  81. Okay this is totally the best debut album from an Idol alumni ever.

  82. Fever is fun too, if I ignore the lyrics.

But why would you want to do that??? And miss out on the menage a trois? haha

  83. I HAVE NEVER BEEN INTERESTED TO ANY SINGERS B4 UNTIL NOW… I WAS MOVED BY adam’s songs. they are all good…. and thanks to adam’s mngt for helping him out with this great album. i really pray that his album will do well.

though i have no idea if all the pre orders are counted with actual sales…

nwey, love you adam, enjoy the ride.
thnks leila and eber lambert for this wonderful gifted guy.

  84. Soaked is so emotional, my favorite of the slow songs, a classic. Love the layered vocals on Music Again, Sleepwalker and Pick U Up. Love the hit-pop song sound of Whataya Want f. Me. Honestly, what a great debut album. I’m cynical often about these kids coming off idol and facing the harsh reality of cd sales, but if this isn’t a hit album (even if the singles don’t shoot to the top right away) I’ll be shocked.

It’s not wrong at all :) I think a lot of us are shedding a few tears.

  86. WOOT WOOT WOOT

I just got to work to listen. I am so excited!!!

    WOOT WOOT WOOT

    Back soon!!!

    *flailing and squeeing*

  87. Okay this is totally the best debut album from an Idol alumni ever.

I couldn’t agree more. Adam has done himself proud. I’m so happy he got to make the album he wanted. It’s impossible to pick a favorite song.

SHANA NAOMI KROCHMAL (Interviewer for Out) responds.

I see this as damage control and to me still does not excuse the editor. Maybe the publicist did not communicate correctly what she was trying to say. From what Shana is saying the publicist didn’t want questions in regards to politically charged gay issues. She even cited the march. I think 19/RCA was not trying to push Adam back in any proverbial closet but also does not want him to be turned into the spokesperson on gay rights. A sentiment that Adam himself has stated numerous times. The publicist tack agreeably was lacking but I believe OUT made more of it than what was intended.

Anyway on to the real important stuff like Adam’s singing and the Awesome Album.

  89. Woohoo! So excited that Adam has a band and his album is streaming.

They look like they belong in the underground scene. I f’n love that.

  90. And Strut IS awesome. Good lord, Kara. Who knew you had THAT in you.

    .

Kara’s had a hand in writing some pretty good songs. Everyone writes a clunker now and then. Kara’s just got the chance to fail on a really big stage.

I’m having trouble getting past the lyrics in a lot of the songs. (especially the beginning of If I Had U (something about wearing the right amount of leather and eyeliner, lol).

Several of these songs have lyrics that I would not really consider “mainstream”. And I guess that’s just Adam being true to who he is, rather than faking it to move units. It’s a gamble, no doubt about that. And, it may mean that he posts smaller numbers in the long run. But I respect the choice. And I would guess he knows that it’s a decision he has to live with, good or bad.

Clearly, I won’t be playing a couple of these songs when the kids are in the car LOL. I don’t want them to go to school singing lyrics about leather and lace and glitter and eyeliner and threesomes (It is a Catholic school after all :)). But, I don’t think my 5 year old is his target audience anyway.

  91. I was streaming the album while working and Aftermath came on and I caught myself thinking; this is a bland song. None of the others are bland imo, but i guess I like this one the least. Sad, since I like Alisan and Ferras.

  92. Well, I will join this thread because I am late to the other.

    *flailing and squeeing and flailing*

So far I even like Music Again!!! OMFG

(I don’t care how fugly they are–they look fierce–tiny tears*

  93. SHANA NAOMI KROCHMAL (Interviewer for Out) responds.

Still flailing over the album ‘“ I believe Adam took your family show, bent it over and ‘“ well, you get the point.

I appreciate Shana’s words, but that editor still came off as an ass. There’s no changing it he f*cked up.

  94. It’s okay all band members are fugly. It’s like a rule of life.

Tommy is gorgeous though. At least now we know who Adam will be dating on tour! :P

  95. Wow, we have been waiting a long time for Kris’ and Adam’s albums, haven’t we? It feels like AI and the tour were decades ago.

And boy, has the wait for Adam’s album been worth it! I am listening to Soaked just now and those phenomenal vocals, original lyrics, professional instrumentals, well produced – that’s a combination of artistry to feed our souls.

Thank you Adam and team for this gift. Can’t wait to have the HQ version to enjoy.

not a fan of his but this is hands down the best debut from an AI alumni ever.

    Thank you very much, JUSTIC.
It means a lot, praising from a non Adam’s fan. Really appreciate your honesty.
I just got here so I’ll go back to listen to some more.
Love the introduction on SLEEPWALKER. Will listen more of the long awaiting SOAKED, SFWINNERS, FEVER, AFTERMATH AND BROKEN OPEN.
What a rollercoaster ride we’ve had. I’ve been crying from reading those heartwrenching articles from Out, the numbers, the failure, and all the negative things. I’m crying now too because of this streaming. (What a crying baby!!!)

    NOW, I’m happy. Thanks, mj.

  97. I cannot believe that MJ did not wait for me to get to work so I could flail and squee. I knew today would be epic b/c yesterday was so not. Even Music Again sounds good. Oh, Adam, I am so happy for you. So very happy. Out can kiss your ass. And now I can listen to WWFM ALL DAMNED LONG. *sigh*

    *thud*

    Back to listening.

  98. Several of these songs have lyrics that I would not really consider ‘mainstream’ .

I don’t want them to go to school singing lyrics about leather and lace and glitter and eyeliner and threesomes (It is a Catholic school after all ). But, I don’t think my 5 year old is his target audience anyway.

    But threesomes ARE mainstream!

    Britney Spears, “3,” anyone?

  99. SHANA NAOMI KROCHMAL (Interviewer for Out) responds.

This is definitely damage control. They should have thought about the reprecussions. some outlets are already blaming Adam and saying he’s a prima donna and hypocrite. What a shame and so unnecessary. They got their good interview. They hurt no one but Adam, and themselves for future interviews. Who on earth would want to do anything with them??

On another note, I’m shocked at how much I like Strut and Pick U Up. I already knew Broken Hearted would be one of my favorites. I love the guitar solo in Music Again. I honestly can’t pick my favorite song. lol Aftermath is my least favorite, but I still like it.

  100. emotion welling up inside both for the beauty of this album that showcases his vision and voice and for the Part two Out Interview– the love question and the last question are so heartwrenching….

His ability to articulate depths of expression of personal emotion is what makes his music so.damn.awesome

  101. I love this album, and I love Adam. I am so happy right now. I love Broken Open, SFW, all of it really for different parts. Amazing.

  102. The guitar on Sleepwalker is great! Anyone know who that is?

It’s Orianthi on guitar in Sleepwalker. She’s the guitarist for Michael Jackson in This Is It.

  103. I was streaming the album while working and Aftermath came on and I caught myself thinking; this is a bland song.

That’s the only song that I wasn’t sure about from the snippets, and now that I’ve heard the whole song, I’m still not sure about it. LOL. Adam’s voice sounds great, of course, but I’m not sure about the song itself.

But, every other song on the album is terrific, so if there is only one “meh” song, that’s amazing.

I’m gonna be late for work, but hey, I had to listen to the whole album before I left. :)

  104. First Idol albums are uneven, overproduced and a product of the rush to get them out. Adam is up there with David Cook as producing a better than average first Idol record. Personally, I wait for Album number 2 with great anticipation.

  105. Wow. Just totally wow. This is a truly amazing CD. Even after liking almost all the snippets I totally didn’t expect to like the whole songs. I mean this is an idol debut. And, yeah, he had amazing people to work with. But it was such a short period of time and he confessed that immediately after idol ended he went through a short period where he lost track of his own musical identity. You can’t tell that listening to this CD. ALL the songs are good. And most are out of this world fucking awesome.

I’m so happy for him that he was able to create this. I hope it sells like hot cakes with a huge fucking dollop of whip cream on top. I’ll be putting the whole album in an playing front to back, no picking and choosing needed to make a mix. Even Time for Miracles which has a different sound from the rest is needed to complete the album and end it on a message of hope. I feel like I’ve been given an amazing gift.

  106. I don’t need any numbers to validate Adam as an artist ‘“ this album just did that.

    I agree!

ITA. My heart is racing, srsly. I even dreamed (if you can believe it) that the album would stream again. My heart is racing. And Strut sounds surprisingly good (forgiven for NoBo, Kara). Soaked is so pretty…that’s all I’m up to now. Back in a little while.

I love you, Adam Lambert. I just do.

Toldja you would like Pick You Up, squirrely. Why does no one ever believe me? And seriously, how EPIC is Soaked. Dammit if this record doesn’t sell like freaking crazy.

    *tiny tears*

  107. broken open sounds so different.. its really unusual but very very great. like mad world its stunning… i love all of the song. and i heard wat neil has tweeted. i heard that “oh brother lyrics from one of the songs…yay!!!!!is it nov 23 yet?!!!!

  108. hey hurt no one but Adam, and themselves for future interviews.

Which is why the editors letter didn’t make sense. I read the interviewers respons, and ok I can see that happening but the one they are hurting here is Adam not the management. A really really shitty thing to do.

  109. The menage a trois is with the bar and the stars. Your minds are in the gutter! Ha Ha! ;)

    we’ll never get too far
just you, me and the bar
so in a mnage à   trois sometimes

    let’s get inside your car
just you, me and the stars
kind of mnage à   trois sometimes

  110. creating these strange moments where we work with both proudly out stars and their reluctant handlers, sometimes at odd with each other even when they have the same ultimate goals. I’m sorry it happened like this, too. But I’m looking forward to Adam Lambert having a long career, and to him proving every single one of us wrong in one way or another.

What the fuck did that mean?

I understand her being pissed out censoring her questions, but then she should have said, well I am just not gonna do it. My way or the highway, so they all compromised their journalistic integrity to interview Adam? Why? And then when she even implies that it was not him personally (for those posters who both implied this earlier in another thread I believe) but his handlers. She herself talked about how open Adam is. So Mr. Editor tried to screw Adam over? He tried to make it about access and ungaying, but it was really about the fact that 19 didn’t want him on a political soap box. Well I can’t believe I am gonna say this, but good on 19! Oh em gee! Hell freezes over!

Now for the happy shit. This cd so interesting, I listen to cds all the way through often, but sometimes my mind wanders or I really want to fast forward to get to the good stuff, and it’s once it lands on my ipod it’s vetted down to a few choice cuts. This entire cd will go on my ipod, which is full btw, so like that digital camera commercial where the photos are discussing who’s got to go, I am sure my music is discussing it amongst themselves, maybe someone will volunteer to be removed? I am proud of Adam for giving us some kick ass music.

  111. I need to be alone with this album!!!!!!!!!!! Just me and my headphone’s. Maybe I will come around and talk about it latter. Maybe not.. :-) Thank You Adam

  112. Which is why the editors letter didn’t make sense. I read the interviewers respons, and ok I can see that happening but the one they are hurting here is Adam not the management. A really really shitty thing to do.

Exactly – if his fight was with 19 why attack Adam – makes no sense.

Also I agree Aftermath is the only one I’m not totally crazy about. But I love Adam’s voice on it.

  113. Only gotten thru Music Again and OMG!!!!! This could start a whole new trend on the radio IMO. SO catchy and brilliant!!!!!! god i love getting new music!!!!

  114. On Strut when he sings ‘Strut for me’ I keep thinking he’ll say “Strut for me and I’ll set you free!”

  115. The publicist tack agreeably was lacking but I believe OUT made more of it than what was intended.

ITA with you! Adam didn’t want to talk about political issues. Big deal!! He has said repeatedly that he doesn’t want to be the leader of a cause and although he does have political views he doesn’t want to alienate people who might otherwise like his music. I think it’s highly likely that Adam’s management was protecting him from journalists out there who want to turn him into an activist. Adam may have ASKED the publicist to say this.

Bottom line: Entitlement is NOT sexy!!

Anyway, on to more pressing issues:

Sherena: Adam and Tommy–yep, that’s the first place my mind went when I saw that picture. He’s definitely Adam’s type, and he must be a fabulous musician. Perfect for Adam–although work relationships can be kind of awkward. I still like Ferrass though. Sigh . . .

And where is Tommy’s hand resting in that photo of the band?? Ahem . . .

As to the lyrics: I’m going to be on a couple of VERY long car rides with my kids during Thanksgiving break, and I don’t have a problem with any of the lyrics OTHER than the lyrics in Fever. Let me clarify, I love the lyrics in Fever, but the meaning of menage a trois is pretty unambiguous, and I don’t want my 9 and 13 year old picking that one up at least on my watch. My 13 year old loves Lady Gaga and already figured out a lot of her lyrics on her own (sigh), but menage a trois is a little much to encourage my kids to sing along to. I’ll probably just turn it down on that part and hope for the best.

I’m not sure that Britney’s lyrics are comparable because she seems to just chant “three” over and over again, which is suggestive but not explicit. Then again, I haven’t really paid attention to the lyrics so maybe it’s more explicit than I could pick out when I heard it on the radio. Adam has such darn good diction that you can really hear what he is saying. I love that about him, but it means that the lyrics aren’t hidden away in a bunch of overproduced crap.

And, for the record, I love the glitter and lace line, and I don’t think that is inappropriate for children in the least. Kids would think of that as lyrics about a costume or dressing up–they aren’t going to impute meaning about Adam’s gayness. If they do come to that conclusion, they are probably already out and about in the world learning to develop their own filter.

  116. let’s get inside your car

    I agree me, my headphones, and Adam’s album….My version of a mnage à   trois… ;-)

  118. Love it. I have to admit when Soaked started I thought, “Someone has made a joke and put the wrong music to this.” Nope.

A Loaded Smile made me think of Prince. Love it!

I love Fever. I am already planning on singing some of those lines to my husband.

    Broken Open is so pretty.

I also really like Sure Fire Winners.

I like them all really. None that make me want to turn them off. Which is good!

Go Adam! You have done it!

  119. I have been lurking since pre-show spoilers in March. This album is so epic that I HAD to delurk.

Absolute faves: Pick U Up (the glory note?! THUD!), Sure Fire Winners (glory note again, attitude, lyric of the century!), Music Again (falsetto!), Fever
Love: Broken Open, If I Had You, Strut
    Like: everything else

    In summary, FLAIL!!!1!eleventy!!!!

  120. I like the faster tempo songs, I think they are pretty catchy. Music Again is my favorite. I hate the ballads. I can’t really describe why, but his voice makes my stomach turn, I have to shut those songs off. They just feel like being dunked in an ice bath, there is no warmth to his voice.

  121. If there is a word that surpasses superb , that would be what I would describe this album. . A song for every aspect of life .
Adam Lambert’s music is a priceless treasure.

  122. Sometimes you hear an album where you know someone’s hit the sweet spot of EXACTLY how he’s supposed to sound. After hearing Adam’s album I think this is one of those albums. There’s a bunch of songs on there that aren’t my personal taste but they’re a part of who Adam is an artist and I knew that would be there. This album is really him and that in and of itself is WIN.

My favorite songs on the album are: Music Again, Soaked (his phrasing is so totally Matt Bellamy or Tom Chaplin of Keane), A Loaded Smile, Broken Open (I guess I loved the ballads most other than Music Again) I like Sleepwalker pretty well too – it’s one of the better songs Ryan Tedder’s done.
My least favorite songs on the album are: title track, Sure Fire Winners, If I Had You, Aftermath

I’m not too big on Strut or Fever either but there’s stuff about each one of those that I like. Whataya Want From Me is pretty good but I can’t shake how much it sounds like Pink should be singing it.

I get an overall feeling like I’ve heard a lot of these songs before but Adam’s got such a quality to his voice that this doesn’t bother me too much. Really solid album that stands out and covers the bases it should’ve. I’d expected to buy a few tracks but I’m leaning to buying the whole thing now because I’m happy the process turned out this well for him.

    Congrats Adam!

  123. I love Sleepwalker and I love Aimee Mayo. (Of course I tweeted her.) Oh, and Broken Open and Soaked. Seriously, I’m crying.

windmills, I totally agree. I knew which songs I would like before I even heard the snippets (except WWFM, which I really love now, on repeat, which seems so poignant now, given the Out situation), but they are all parts of Adam’s personality. God, I could not be happier for him.

Wow it goes to show you music is subjective because I feel totally the opposite. I think his voice on those songs are full of emotional content and pure unadulterated heat. Glad that you do like the uptempo songs so something on the album for you.

  125. I absolutely love this album. I love Broken Open, it is just stunning. Pick U Up is amazing. I love Soaked, Fever, If I Had You, Sleepwalker, I just love the whole album. I’m going to be in my car and wish I could be listening to it. I don’t want to listen to anything else! Oh, and I get the menage a trois thing too. Peoples minds are in the gutter! HaHa!

Lol, no Lucy. There is a resemblance though. Christian is a man of many talents, but playing bass is not one of them.

I had to tweet Kara about Strut – it’s just that surprising to me.

Re: band photo. ‘ ¦ Is that Christian Siriano on bass?

    ROTFLMAO

  129. Ok. i want to download this NOW. I have already pre-ordered my copy and i plan on buying the hard copy too of course. but can anyone tell me how to get this bad boy now?!?!?! I MUST HAVE IT!!!

  130. Is that Christian Siriano on bass

I like Christian, but he will never look that good.

  131. Oh, I forgot IIHY, which is my favorite up tempo song, which I knew last week, b/c I couldn’t stop singing the chorus. Well, today is shot. I will be listening to this all day long, trying so hard to work but I doubt it. And Pick u Up…yes!!! So those are my favorite uptempo songs (I can totally hear IIHY on the radio, no? So catchy). I do not, personally, think FYE was the best choice for a first single; I would have chosen IIHY, and then WWFM. But who the hell cares now.

People better buy this damned album…I bet they will.

  132. Just so very happy for Adam. He was truly born to do this. This album is so full and so exciting.

And, you know what, I didn’t go to the AI concert. Thought about it, but just couldn’t bring myself to actually do it. I WILL go to an Adam Lambert concert. I will find someone and go. No way will I miss him performing these songs live.

  133. I hope that’s not the official band pic. Nobody looks good including Adam. Interesting possibilities with Adam and that Tommy dude during live shows ahead. :)
    The ballads are solid though.

  134. Who are Tommy and Lisa and Longineau? I do not like what Adam has on, I have to admit…but you know, I am not one to look to for Adam’s taste, b/c I love emo Adam hair, and I know that is not what he is going for here (THO I BET HE DOES FOR A SONG LIKE SLEEPWALKER OR FOR BROKEN OPEN OR SOAKED).

I like the way Longineau looks, actually.

  135. Sure Fire Winners – prediction: Adam will sing this at the finale for season 9 with a montage on the screen of the two season 9 finalists…right before they announce the Winner.

  136. OMG. I want to marry this album and have it’s babies and dress them up in baby clothes of leather and lace and put glitter on my face and…

    well, you get the drift.

Loaded Smile is breaking my heart right now. His voice is so emotional and beautiful. Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah Adam!!!

  137. The publicist tack agreeably was lacking but I believe OUT made more of it than what was intended.

What was intended was setting different ground rules for an interview with the gay guy than they would have for an interview with a straight guy. (Try to imagine this: Well, don’t make him seem straight-straight….).

And if there are different rules, then they are not treating him like any other artist that they represent/manage. Has nothing to do with tact. They’re asking for him to be treated differently because appearing to be too much of what he is might turn off some of their hoped-for customers.

That is not one whit different from their asking Ebony not to depict a black idol alum as “too black” or as “black black.” Would the publicist who asked for that get a pass as just not being “tactful” enough? No. they’d get slammed for behaving like a retrograde, bigoted Neanderthal with stone-age ethics. No different here. It’s not about tact, it’s about politics and equal treatment — not treatment that’s “almost equal but just a little bit different so we can sell more.”

  138. Squirrely, I like you, but I believe we will never be on good terms. First my son, now his bf. Don’t make me come over there! ;-)

Suebrody, another day of not getting any work done. I have to pay COMPLETE and FULL attention to what I’m listening to. Adam is not meant for background music, that’s for sure.

    11/17/2009 at 9:24 am

Okay did we figure out which Led Zep riff was in SFW yet? I am thinking it’s Black Dog It’s at the 1:43 and 2:38 marks

Yeah, I guess that’s the one. Thanks!

  140. If the editor of OUT wanted to make sure Adam new what his handlers were up to – a private letter would have sufficed.

  141. I like the faster tempo songs, I think they are pretty catchy. Music Again is my favorite. I hate the ballads. I can’t really describe why, but his voice makes my stomach turn, I have to shut those songs off. They just feel like being dunked in an ice bath, there is no warmth to his voice.

It’s intentional like Mad World. Another voice that emulates that kind of mood to their voice is Enya. Not very many singers can do that.

  142. Adam tweeted that photo saying it was a shot of the band “on set”. I assume from the video shoot yesterday.

  143. Wow! Not what I was expecting. I luv it! More rock to some of the songs – not overprocessed. Listening at work! One hell of an album! I think I am in shock. I LUV Adam but never expected it to be this good!

  144. Oh I am soooooo happy this morning! After yesterday’s angst, this is a wonderful treat to listen to the entire album. And I haven’t heard all of the tracts including Fever which many seem to really enjoy. It’s impossible to pick a favorite though I LOVE Soaked and Broken Open. Have even revised my opinion of Music Again which left me cold after listening to the snippets. Love it now. Oh I am so happy (and fortunate to be able to listen while at work with my earbuds on, LOL.)

    Really really need that CD!

  145. Squirrely, I like you, but I believe we will never be on good terms. First my son, now his bf. Don’t make me come over there!

    ROTFLMAO

Okay, now *there’s* the reaction I was hoping for!

But … if you have to explain a joke, it wasn’t funny enough!

  148. I like the album a lot. There are some great songs but it does feel a bit disjointed going from one to another particularly in the beginning. I find that’s the case for a lot of pop albums tough.

Soaked sounds so much like a Muse song that it stands out to me, Music Again is the true glam rock throwback, Strut seems to be the anthem of the whole album.

The only tunes I really didn’t care for are Whataya Want From Me (can’t shake off the feeling of Adam covering Pink on this one), Sure Fire Winners and Aftermath that sounds like a Daughtry song.

  149. I’M FLAILING ALL OVER THE PLACE CINDYM!!!!!^%!*^&!$#&!^$^*!^#!&^$!*$#!&^$!* lol

  153. Oops, sorry Lucy. I’ll stop feeling sorry for you now!

    We’re good now, Squirrely. :-)

I’m feeling a little guilty for not flailing over Kris’ release yet. Maybe tomorrow.

  156. FLove the whole album!!! Well done Adam and the team!

Onto the third listen. Hope I can make up my mind for favorites this time. sigh…they are all so good and sick~~~

  157. If the editor of OUT wanted to make sure Adam new what his handlers were up to ‘“ a private letter would have sufficed.

Yeah, but he didn’t want Adam to know so much as he wanted the world to know that, even though 19/RCA are hoping to get big brownie points for fully supporting an out gay guy, they aren’t quite doing that. So it’s not quite time yet to pat the corporate world on the back and declare that the gay-rights struggle in the entertainment world is now officially over.

He was making the political point that, while that’s what 19/RCA would love to have you believe — so that they could have this great image as totally forward-thinking good guys — it is not accurate.

If you make money off of somebody but tell people such as the media to hide their gayness just a *little* bit, it’s no different than making money off a black person while telling them to tone down their blackness a little bit. Politically, both are crap.

That’s my story and, as you can see, I’m sticking to it, lol.

  159. I know what fugly means but I would not describe the band as such. We can’t all look like Adam. It would cause the universe to collapse!

  160. Adam has exceeded my expectations with this album. I love his voice on the ballads. It makes me feel everything with him. His personality really comes through on this album, the fun side, the not too serious side, the vulnerable side, the theatrical side, all of it is there pulled together through his incredible VOICE. I am so glad that it sounds like Adam.

Lucy though I appreciate your opinion I disagree….This is exactly what a publicist would do with straight entertainer or as you put a black entertainer. Many artist don’t want to be asked about political issues and in turn ask that the issue is off topic. I think people are reading way too much into it and trying to find fire when there is no smoke. I am a gay person and believe me I agree that there is so much unfairness in all aspects of life when it come to gay issues and rights but I don’t believe this is one of them. Not wanting the person (you have invested tons of money in) to be brought into a political debate or be perceived as the spokesperson for any group is not discriminating or bias or not being treated equally is good business practice. This is just my take on the issue. It is not more valid then yours. Your opinion is how you view it which makes it right for you and I do respect it, I just have a different take on it.

  162. can’t stop listening to Sure Fire Winners….jamming in my office — hope no one walks in…maybe close the door and lock it

  163. Epic. Epic. Throughout the entire album, his incredible vocals stand out. His vocals are stunnningly beautiful in his ballads. I can’t even pick a fave yet. As someone said, Kara redeemed herself with “Strut”. As someone else said, this sounds like a Greatest Hit album.

He was making the political point that, while that’s what 19/RCA would love to have you believe ‘” so that they could have this great image as totally forward-thinking good guys ‘” it is not accurate.

If you make money off of somebody but tell them to hide their gayness just a *little* bit, it’s no different than making money off a black person while telling them to tone down their blackness a little bit. Politically, both are crap.

That’s my story and, as you can see, I’m sticking to it, lol.

I totally see what you are saying. We don’t really know if Adam had knowledge of what was said beforehand either. Adam has said himself that he doesn’t want to become an “activist” for the gay movement…Could the interviewer have misinterpreted what was being said or asked? IDK

  165. There’s not a clunker in the bunch. Even the bonus tracks are stellar (except perhaps for TFM IMO). How did he do this in such a short period of time, while touring and singing his face off almost every night?
    Adam is full of WIN.

  166. Once again, Adam is promoting Kris’s album (in the wee hour of the morning).

  167. And if there are different rules, then they are not treating him like any other artist that they represent/manage. Has nothing to do with tact. They’re asking for him to be treated differently because appearing to be too much of what he is might turn off some of their hoped-for customers.

I don’t think this strategy is unique to “gay” artists, any publicist worth their salt is going to try to get their client to steer away from topics which might come back to bite them in the butt. For example, Tom Cruise turned a lot of people off after he changed publicists and hired a relative to represent him and as a result his religion, Scientology, was too much in the forefront. His religion is polarizing. Political views are also polarizing. Only an established star can get away with professing theirs and even then there can be a backlash. Like it or not, Adam is a product and if his product doesn’t sell then all his efforts are for naught. Everybody knows he is gay, but that doesn’t mean he has to lead the gay rights parade.

  168. Yeah, so it looks like everyone here really likes this album which is great for Adam, I hope he has plenty of success with it. For me, I just didn’t like any of the songs…at all. “Broken Open” was by far the best for me, but honestly I didn’t really enjoy any of them enough to purchase something. It’s not that the quality of the recordings are bad, they aren’t. I think it’s going to be music people love or hate…not much for people to feel so-so over.

I am curious to see what the music reviews will look like. It’s not bland at all, but to me that doesn’t mean it’s good nor should that merit praise. I am guessing music critics who love Adam will eat it up though. I wonder if he didn’t already have the great Idol press how this album would have faired for Adam as a new artist? I know all Idols have that advantage (or disadvantage) based on how they gain popularity from the show; I just wonder if his reviews are going to be strongly influenced by that fact that people seem to love Adam the person as opposed to the music standing on it’s own. I guess time will tell.

I am not an Idol fan who loves or hates just because of who I supported through the season, it’s all about the music after Idol for me, but I just can’t listen to this (I guess I am disappointed, I really did want to like it). I am happy that Adam fans seems excited though…good for him and all of you!

  169. Oo!!!! Yes MJ!!! Poll!!!!! We want a poll!!!!! Please Poll!!!!

And will this live streaming of the album be up all week until the album comes out?!?!?!?!

  170. Not wanting the person (you have invested tons of money in) to be brought into a political debate or be perceived as the spokesperson for any group is not discriminating or bias or not being treated equally. This is just my take on the issue. It is not more valid then yours. Your opinion is how you view it which makes it right for you and I do respect it, I just have a different take on it.

    Yep, we totally disagree!

That “invested tons of money in” is the sticking point for me. For the purposes of money, they’re asking that the person be treated differently.

I’m a reporter, and if I were the Out editor I would — as others have suggested — have told RCA, thanks but no thanks. And then I would have written a letter from the editor explaining why Adam Lambert was not in my issue. That constraints were requested for his interview and photo that I believed were discriminatory on the basis of our being a gay publication and his being a gay entertainer. That way, I would have essentially left Adam out of it and pointed out what I saw as the corporate hypocrisy that’s part of what holds back political progress!

For monetary purposes — I’m sure — they did it differently, because they dang well wanted Adam in that issue. And since I’m criticizing RCA/19 for being politically retrograde and discriminatory for monetary purposes, I’ll go ahead and criticize Out for that also! And that does, admittedly, make this a grayer area than it might be otherwise.

Still stick by my view, though, that the request 19/RCA made about Adam’s interview was based strictly on his being gay and is therefore fundamentally different from their just requesting that an interview with your average entertainer not discuss politics but is exactly like requesting that media not make a black person seem “too black”!

I agree to disagree with … well, virtually everyone on this blog, actually, in addition to you, dhunken!

  171. Whew! Sleepwalker! Luv the guitar rif! Is that Orianthi?

That is her!! The guitar rif is sick. There are many rifs and other instrument solo in this album. Such a great treat!!!

  172. Amazing the difference a “snippet” vs whole song makes. I appreciate the diversity of the album – he wasn’t kidding about that! Several tracks sound like nothing familiar yet something from a distant past. A few tracks sound like today, and those are probably my least favorite at this moment.

I am excited about the formation of his band. My goodness, I have deep appreciation with just how much work he is doing right now.

Counting the days till the 23rd when I can BUY the music and SUPPORT Adam!

  173. I am curious to see what the music reviews will look like

There have only been a few so far, but they have been really good

  174. He was making the political point that, while that’s what 19/RCA would love to have you believe ‘” so that they could have this great image as totally forward-thinking good guys ‘” it is not accurate.

The only reason people believe 19/RCA has been forward-thinking or supportive of Adam is because that’s what ADAM has said. So the person they are contradicting is Adam, not 19/RCA.

And you know what? This was only publicist and one decision amongst a host of other smaller/larger decisions that are made daily in connection with Adam, one of the biggest ones being his album cover which was pretty ballsy in my opinion – and 19/RCA signed off on that.

Bottom line: Hicklin writes “we’re all counting on you not to mess this up” but at the same time he’s doing his level best to mess it up for Adam by trying to drive a wedge between Adam and his record company with his very public statements. Yeah, thanks for the support, Hicklin.

Love the album, btw. In my opinion, this is one of those albums that will continue to sell steadily even after the initial hype dies down, because it is that good. I believe 2010 will be a year filled with new fans constantly “discovering” Adam and his beautiful voice.

  175. I just wonder if his reviews are going to be strongly influenced by that fact that people seem to love Adam the person as opposed to the music standing on it’s own. I guess time will tell.

Not sure how time will help. There’s no way to know if a critic gives a good review because they like Adam, like his music, or both.

  176. Wouldn’t it be cool if Adam sang “Strut” on AI when he returns there?

  177. I am very, very happy right now :) .

    I’m very very proud :D

For the first time I’ll gift a CD to my friends and am sure they will appreciate it if not fall in love with it.

  178. Wouldn’t it be cool if Adam sang ‘Strut’ on AI when he returns there?

    Kara will burst into tears!!!

He didn’t exceed my expectations, but the vocals on Soaked and Broken Open are GORGEOUS. I means, seriously, I get goose bumps. How much more vulnerable can you get than this? I think it might be why I didn’t love the cover. There are so many great songs on here (just a couple I still don’t like–Music Again is the one that comes to mind), and I hope that the music buying will not just say, oh, it’s all glam, not interested, and listen to all of the album. It’s like he was on Idol, of course; there were performances I liked better than others (MW, FG, ToMT, RoF), but, as I’ve noted, aside from IICHY (and I’m in the minority in this) and One (so much better in the studio), I liked them ALL. So I hope that those who prefer sensitive!Adam will check out the fun songs, the more that are perhaps more mainstream (WWFM, lurrve it), and vice versa. Because this is a GREAT album that shows all sides of Adam, and deserves to be heard.

Still not loving the look of the band, tho. ;) And of course Adam would give a shout out to Kris–he’s just that kind of a person–and also sincerely be interested in what his fans thought of the particular songs, instead of saying, Hey, my new album is out, aren’t I the greatest musician ever? That’s not Adam.

Yes, I would love a poll as well. :) And really, Out can suck it. Off to comment.

  180. My favorites:

    Soaked
    Sure Fire Winners
    Loaded Smile
    If I Had You
    Pick U Up
    Fever
    Sleepwalker
    Broken Open

Personally, I give it four out of five stars (which is really good cuz I’m super critical when it comes to albums)

  181. Streaming at work right now (got my ear buds on) and listening to “Soaked” right now >> WOW, Really love this song and the way Adam sings it’ ¦ That man has a truly beautiful voice…

  182. the best debut from an AI alumni ever

    LOL, if I had a nickle…

    First impressions…

Adam had me at menage a trois. Waaay more excited than I was after hearing the snippets, mostly because Fever! And Soaked. Fever and Soaked are my run away favorites. (And Master Plan….) Love all three, total perfection.

Sure Fire Winners is definitely Freddy-esque and made for arenas. The opening groove of Music Again sounded weirdly familiar, so I kept replaying it until I figured it out – it reminded me of Shake Yo Groove Thang. Maybe on purpose? I imagine it’s a 70s throw back homage. I like it. Strut has a great dirrrty downbeat- the title really nails it. Broken Open is going to be amazing live with that voice. Seriously, I think Adam could perform it a capella even and it would be amazing.

Aftermath is a good tune but sounds out of place in the context of the album, as does WYWFM, which unlike Aftermath, I don’t really care for very much. Also not totally feeling Pick U Up…somehow as soon as it starts I can’t help but picture the kids from the 80s version of Fame gathering around Bruno as he plunks out something on his keyboard and Leroy jetes across the screen. Sleepwalker is a mixed bag. The verses are kinda boring until it gets to the beginning of the chorus, which is actually hey, pretty cool until the walker, walker, walker part which really grates (I blame Tedder.) And then the guitar solo is cool again.

The only song I don’t really care for at all, though, in a do. not. want. kinda way, is Loaded Smile. I want to smash that drum machine after the first ten seconds and then it goes on for another ten seconds. And after really interesting ballads like Broken Open and Soaked, this one feels like ballad writing paint by numbers. Meh. For me for me, should have dumped it for Master Plan.

  183. Seriously, I don’t think I could take a poll—I cannot choose a favorite. Or, as soon as I think I have one, I listen to another song and change my mind. I am really shocked by how well this whole album comes together and by how much I am loving everything on it.

  184. i love whataya want from me..am i the only one?? i really love it.

    i love it all!!

  185. Yeah, I’d give it 4-. I would have given it 4 if he kicked of Aftermath and used a hardcorde rock song instead a la WLL.

  186. I’m happy to hear that so many people really like this album as a whole. I am trying very hard to exhibit self control and not listen to the stream. I just really want my first full listen to be when I get my CD. I keep thinking maybe I’ll just listen to one or two songs but I know that if I do that it will not stop. I’ll see how long I can hold out.

adamlover – You are not alone. I really like WWFM too.

  187. MJ should make a poll.

A poll would be fun. If you go to the myspace site where it is streaming you can see which songs are being listened to the most.

  188. I went out for a couple of hours and look what I find. This has made my day!!!! Amazing, spectacular, fabulous, there are no adjectives to describe this album. Everything Adam promised to offer is here. Love all the songs, the lyrics, the music, the instrumentation, and best of all, Adam ´s vocals. I need to listen more in order to have a favorite. It is difficult because each one is its own.

A pity Master Plan is not included.

I am sooo happy I don ´t know what to do: I am listening, singing, dancing, laughing, crying of happiness for Adam.

I am so pround of our BB :-)

  189. It might be easier to poll your least favorite than it would be to choose a favorite…there are too many. (But that seems kind of negtive.)

  190. You can make a poll where you can choose all you like, it doesnt have to be one.

  191. Aw, Aftermath, lol. It is kind of that safe, HAC song that they had to put on there. I actually like it, for what it is. It sounds like something off Cook’s record, that kind of feel. And I love the harmonizing with Alisan on the verses.

My favorites might be—Broken Open, Pick U Up, Fever, Music Again, Soaked, WWFM–honestly, I love them all.

  192. I have difficulty believing that Adam did not have some say in 19’s dealing with Out. He has said repeatedly that he does not want to be the poster boy for gay rights and I expect his publicist probably did say this to them. If it was unacceptable they should have refused the interview. I think the editor is mad that Adam refused to follow his agenda and become a gay poster boy who sings instead of a great singer who happens to be gay. He gave them a great interview and they chopped it to pieces and only included the parts that made him look bad. Great job, Out (NOT). It’s a little late for damage control Out. I won’t be buying your magazine.

  193. Ohh, “Pick You Up”…. Love Adam’s inflection and the way he makes his voice sound on this song…

I mean what other singer can make his (her) voice sound so differently great ? That is the beauty of Adam’s gift >> the ability to sing across the various genres and to do it so friggin’ well. And, I bet if he tried real hard, Adam could even sing Country, yep, he could :-)

  194. Oh. my. god…I want this mother f*#ker RIGHT NOW!
I’m way too busy with listening and trying to absorb the awesomeness of every drop of this delicious music to post anything coherent!

  195. Many artist don’t want to be asked about political issues and in turn ask that the issue is off topic.

I think it may have been as simple as that and Hicklin turned it into a crapfest.

  196. After watching Kris at GMA concert I can’t imagine Adam on such a small scene with people so close while he singing FYE. Not only sales will go through the roof but the GMA building roof itself is in danger!

  197. And, I bet if he tried real hard, Adam could even sing Country, yep, he could

You must not have heard the songs on Take One- Adam’s Bastard Album ( as dhunken likes to call it, lol). Alot of the songs sound like country

BTW- People are twittering like crazy about this album today. HOPEFULLY THEY ARE BUYING IT!

  198. The irony is that right now it would be easier to get Kris Allen to do a solo cover shoot for us. But only because he’s straight.

    And who’s fault is that?

  199. My favirates:

    If I had You
    Broken Open
Sleepwalker (should be a single, the guitar rif is sick)
Pick U Up (the laugh at the end, melting)
    Sure Fire Winners
    Master Plan

  200. Wow! What a superb album! Songs I was iffy on from the snippets, Music Again, Loaded Smile, Soaked, I love! Songs I loved from the snippets, Sleepwalker, Broken Open, Fever, If I Had You,WWFM, and Pick U Up, Strut, and Sure Fire Winners, I love even more! Aftermath is probably my least favorite.

I can’t wait to see him sing these songs live. His voice is like no other. It’s going to be EPIC!

I am so thrilled and happy for Adam, and for us, his fans.

This is what I was trying to say earlier…I was having difficulty putting my thoughts into coherent sentences. The music I was listening to wouldn’t let me focus on anything else!

  202. I’m a reporter, and if I were the Out editor I would ‘” as others have suggested ‘” have told RCA, thanks but no thanks. I can say on this area we both agree upon 100%

  203. Ok I spent some time alone with the music… And here are my thoughts if anyone is interested. If not oooppppsss sorry for taking up so much space!!

Music Again is funky and Fun, I like what the song represents, I want you mind, body and soul.. I love his falceto.. the music is all over the place.. really fun.

    For Your Entertainment
AWSOME BEAT.. Can’t stop my head from bobbing around when that song comes on.. I attempt to sing along!

    Whataya Want From Me
Love his sexy voice in this one, I totally love singing this one!!! Baby your Beautiful, there is nothing wrong with you, its me, I am a freak, but thanks for loving me, your doing it perfectly… lalala.. LOVE IT.

    Strut
Really cool rythm..awsome sexy voice.. STRUT>>STRUT>>STRUT SEXY>>SEXY>>SEXY.. Do I need to say more!!! LOL

    !!!Soaked!!!

This is the most beautiful song on the album, the music alone is inspiring.
The music reminds me of extreamly well written opera or the backgroud music
to the most inspiring love story ever! The music opens you up and Adams voice takes
you higher, its just sooo beautiful and the lryics sooo haunting.. I cried like a baby!!!

    Sure Fire Winners!!!!!!!
Speachless.. this song just.. WOW.. Everything about this song is just amazing for me!!
    Scream at me baby!!!!

    A Loaded Smile
Soulful, quite and soft… I never felt so satisfied… High register is sooooo beautiful… gets really soulful at the middle.. and ends One last Dance.. SIGH!!

    If I Had You
Ok this is kick ass.. I can hear this one at the clubs. Very dance.
This would put me in the mood to party!!!!! Lets PARTY… LOL

    Pick U Up
I like this song once it picks up. Good but not Great. The lryics at the mid end are Great, and the High note with the laugh is priceless.

    Fever
ahhhhhhhhhh BABY.. lets play tic tac toe.. Love how sexy this song is. I had to get up and Dance and sing to this..Could’nt help it!!!!!!!!! Thank God I was alone.. lol
OHHHH BABY!!!!!! His voice is fantastic but everyone knows this!! Can I possible put more !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Sleepwalker
ohhhhhhhh how I have been there! Totaly connected with this song, makes me very emotional. Amazing… no words really.. My eyes are wide shut. Just wanna say the guitar it tottaly wicked.

    Aftermath
Lryics are very meaningfull, Lovely anthem song. I love the message and Adams beautiful vocals.

    Broken Open
Ohhhhh Adam.. Wounderful.. I float to this song.. so vulnerable.. It reminds you of the ones you love and the broken pieces your’ve tried to piece back together and end up just holding on too. *snif*

    Time for Miracles
This song for me is incrediable and amazing, makes me breathless.
    Totaly rocks my World.

  204. MJ, what song do you think would have been a better first single? I agree FYE is not the best song on the album.

  205. An, adamaloha, I adore WWFM. It really gets to me, when he sings about how he’s a freak, but thank you for loving me, you do it perfectly. Wow. I think Pink wrote this during her turbulent time with Corey, but so what? It’s Adam’s now. And I could be wrong, but I think a lot of us like the softer/mid-tempo songs better than songs like Music Again and Sure Fire Winners. I guess that’s why I don’t like Music Again, b/c honestly, if I was just picking up the album and heard that, I would say…er…not so much (if I didn’t know about Adam). I would put FYE first, b/c I think it’s a more uptempo song that also features Adam’s voice, and I just don’t feel that way about Music Again (can’t use MA, looks like a state, lol).

My favorites remain, in order of appearance:

WWFM (tho I have to say that FYE is creeping in there, lol)
Soaked (teary-eyed), tho I like Strut better than I thought I would
    Soaked
    A Loaded Smile
If I Had You (favorite mid-tempo song)
    Pick U Up
    Sleepwalker (and you go, Orianthi)
Broken Up (favorite song on the album)
Tfm (I know, I know, I love it, sorry, tho I am not sure I would place it after BU)
Master Plan, which I would place before TfM

Also like Fever and Aftermath, just not as much as the others.

And the only songs I just do not like are Music Again (sigh) and Sure Fire Winners. But hell, 12/14 ain’t bad, and we haven’t heard Down the Rabbit Hole or the other one from AO, and it won’t be DtRH or MP, b/c they released that already)

God, this album is just so bloody good, it really freaking is, as good as I had hoped it. And I do not believe there has ever been an Idol’s debut as solid as this one.

    I didn’t see this tweet:

    @adamlambert

@Vida15 yeah i did! :) Held auditions and these were the BEST! about 9 hours ago from web in reply to Vida15

    Or this one:

@zulugirl13 Yes! that IS Orianthi on Sleepwalker! about 8 hours ago from web in reply to zulugirl13

So, now I know how the band was picked, Monte excluded. ;)

  206. Though I sort of like Aftermath….I would trade it in a sec for Mater Plan. Let Aftermath be the bonus track and Master Plan be one of the original tracks. Then the Album would be perfect…..IMHO

  207. I think FYE is a perfect first choice for a single. I have been playing the album at home and my boyfriend started singing along with WWFM. He is not at all into Adams kind of music, more of an reggea/rnb person. So I guess they should release that one as a 2nd single, though I personally like the see the more edgy Fever and PUU being released. Sleepwalker should def be a single too.

Hmm, lots of single choices on this one.

  208. Totally agre with you dhunken about switching Aftermath and Master Plan. Maybe the label thought the song was too gay?

  209. “Fever” = on endless repeat = not getting old at all.

LOVE this song! The rest is great, too. Loaded Smile is another one to go back to later.

    But…for now…”Oh baby, light’s on but your mind’s not home…” :)

  210. After watching Kris at GMA concert I can’t imagine Adam on such a small scene with people so close while he singing FYE. Not only sales will go through the roof but the GMA building roof itself is in danger!

I knooow, right? What I wouldn’t give to be in that studio!

  211. wow. This was quite a present. I woke up feeling kind of sick and now this :)
I absolutely loved all of it.
Music Again is incredible and very catchy
FYE is a great dance tune…cant wait for the AMA’s
Strut is good especially the ending
Soaked is AMAZING!!! Props to Mathew Bellamy…great production on this track too with violins and all
Sure Fire Winners I also liked again especially the ending..the lyrics are awesome
A Loaded Smile is awesome and Im not surprised cuz Linda Perry is amazing
IF I had you has some crazy vocals…its good, not my favorite but its not a filler..I got confused but I think this is the one with the laugh at the end?
Pick U Up is very catchy and again the vocals are great (sounds very fall out by-ish so Im betting a lot of ppl will like it)
Fever is awesome…Lady Gaga is incapable of writing a bad song and the lyrics are fun
Sleepwalker is really good…Ryan Tedder is a good producer and you can hear is his signature sound but its not like the other ones hes done…and I love the guitar at the end
Aftermath would have made a great coronation song LOL I guess since NoBo sucked he was like “well Im gonna write my own damn coronation song Bitches” LOL HOWEVER I dont like the it was produced…its a good song and his vocals are awesome as usual but its starts off right a way with no intro and that sounds awkward to me…also right when its getting really good and heavy it fades out LOL
Broken Open is AMAZING and very modern sounding…I absolutely love it and the production on it was awesome…
The album is definitely more POP than ROCK but its still really really good for a pop album. Im not disappointed. Great job Adam!!
Im looking forward to some edgier rock on the next one :)

Totally agre with you dhunken about switching Aftermath and Master Plan. Maybe the label thought the song was too gay?

ROTFLMAO….. Ah Saga I love you!!!!!!!!

  213. My two least favorites, Music Again and Sure Fire winners just became frontrunners after listening with headphones, lol.

This album is crazy, I keep listening to ALL OF THEM! When does that even happen? When you’re listening to an Adam Lambert album, that’s when, lol.

  214. Though I sort of like Aftermath’ ¦.I would trade it in a sec for Mater Plan. Let Aftermath be the bonus track and Master Plan be one of the original tracks. Then the Album would be perfect’ ¦..IMHO

    Agree 100%

  215. I wanna go to GMA. :(

This is def the best place to stream FYE, b/c you don’t have to keep going to Facebook page:

    http://www.ilike.com/artist/Adam+Lambert

No word from Lyndsey (odd), Slezak, or Jim (the latter are busy w/ Kris, which makes sense). I tweeted them, of course. Please, as if. 8)

Yes on Aftermath (sads but true) and MP. MP is a better song. I still do not think MA should have opened up the album, FYE should have, but oh, well. Cannot wait to listen to Down the Rabbit Hole. God, whenever I hear Broken Up, I want to cry, seriously. GORGEOUS. Adam is so vulnerable on that track. I don’t want it to get released, b/c I never want it get to dissed or whatever. EVER. I want WWFM to get released next, please, please, please.

So the reviews are good so far? Hope so. And I do like Strut again; Adam has to sing that on Idol, and Kara can go on stage and dance with Adam (or do background vocals).

  216. This album is crazy, I keep listening to ALL OF THEM! When does that even happen? When you’re listening to an Adam Lambert album, that’s when, lol.

    I know!!!!!

  217. What a wonderful day to be an Adam fan. WowwWWWWWW!!!!!! Can ´t stop listening to all of the songs. Also sending links to all my friends on Facebook ;-)

  218. I guess we have to give Adam a pat on the back, no?

Damn good job done under these circumstances! You doing your fucking best seems to be good enough.

  219. This is def the best place to stream FYE, b/c you don’t have to keep going to Facebook page:

Suebrody, On FB you can open the player and it will play one after the other without having to go back to the page.

  220. I am just TOTALLY overcome this morning with Adam love. TOTALLY.

Glad my mom is still sleeping (24 hr a day sitter for 82 y/o mom). Gives me a chance to really listen, read, and concentrate. She follows him too–about 75% of the time that I spend following him. Always wanting me to read comments from this thread. She has watched all the tour videos and loved him there. Since she heard the snippets, she is looking forward to hearing all the songs. She played guitar and sang in a bluegrass band. Not exactly Adam’s genre, I’ll say, but makes her love music and appreciate a good musician.

I did read part 2 of the Out interview. It brought tears to my eyes and just made me realize what a huge weight he has on his shoulders with all the expectations. And he is “just a man” trying to figure out how to love, be in a relationship, and do it right–in front of the world.

I wish him the best, as he is giving us his best.

  221. I am in shock about this CD. It is so awsome, it is gonna take me months to listen to it to pick my favorite, there is just so much going on in every song, I cant make a decision on which ones I like the best, oh hell I like, love all of them. FEVER OMG, I could listen to it all day. Oh I just dont know what to say. Adam and crew you are all geniuses, I hope this album gets everything it deserves. I know it will be playing in clubs with very one dancing their faces off. The great thing is that I wont get bored with it cause there is only one or two on it that is any good.

Congrads Adam you are wonderful, and deserve the best!!!!!
OMG Listening to Broken Open!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH, MY, GOD,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I gotta stop this raving on about these songs!!!!

Sunday when are you going to be here????????????????????????

  222. Can ´t stop listening again and again, and everytime I found something new to love, the music arrangements, the beats, the rythm and that voice!!: so playful sometimes, so sexy, so cocky and so touching some other times all in the right moments, I just love it!!

  223. ‘If you voted for me, thank you because you helped my dream come true and I love you for it. I won’t disappoint and get ready for the CD!’ ‘“ Adam Lambert, Manchester, NH 09/15/09

OMG! Adam, I love you for making the album you promised. It’s absolutely fantastic. I’m out of my mind with joy this morning. Just so happy for you and all your fans. Wishing that all your dreams come true.

“Fever” = hit, Hit, HIT!!! Thank you Lady Gaga for sharing this with Adam.

“Sleepwalker” – Amazing. Can’t get enough of it.

    Back to listening now…..

  224. Agree with MJ…while i like FYE, it is one of my least favorite songs on the album (how fun to say that you really like your least favorite song on a album)

  225. Thanks, dyg1. I do have on the other link, tho, http://www.ilike.com/artist/Adam+Lambert

BTW, I like SFW winners, so the only one I do not like is MA, which I still wish was not the first track on the album. :( Oh, well.

So, 13/14 for, and with MP that’s 14/15. That’s probably the highest I have ever given an album. WOOT!

What’s nice about this thread is that ppl get to enjoy Adam’s music and not quibble about who should or should not have won Idol or compare Kris and Adam’s albums, which are so bloody different is not funny. (I never did get my iTunes email for downloading KA, shock, shock).

I was surprised to see TfM has moved up on the pop chart; guess it’s the buzz of the movie, see it’s still not getting spins. Disappointed that FYE only got two adds yesterday–more today?–but I bet the AMAs and the album release will give it a nice bump.

I still haven’t read the Out article; I’ll do that now. And I hope Adam gets a chance to just sing for a bit (and do TV interviews, lol).

Geez, I love If I Had You…I could just play that all day and be happy. *sigh* I would like to see that get released as a single: anyone agree? So many choice on this album. Please let it do well, please please please.

  226. This album is crazy, I keep listening to ALL OF THEM! When does that even happen? When you’re listening to an Adam Lambert album, that’s when, lol.

    I know!!!!!

i’ve been listening since 8:30 this morning – he did such a great job!

  227. Hate to borrow from the OUT editor, but….

Thanks for not fucking this up Adam!

Squirrely- I am embarrassed to say I have you beat :)

Ha! Rivers Cuomo is pimping PUU for Adam!

riverscuomo: “Pick U Up” (song I wrote with ALambert and Gwells) is streaming here: http://www.myspace.com/adamlambert I LOVE THIS SONG!
1 minute ago from web · Reply

  228. If the music sounds this good streamed, imagine when we get the CD. We will be in Adam heaven.

  229. I wish I could get ppl together to have an AMA and/or listening party. I took off next Monday so I could just listen to the album all day. Man, it’s gonna be great for walking, and the more upbeat songs will be great to work out at the gym. :)

  230. I’m a reporter, and if I were the Out editor I would ‘” as others have suggested ‘” have told RCA, thanks but no thanks. And then I would have written a letter from the editor explaining why Adam Lambert was not in my issue

And that is why I am so pissed at Out. They should have walked away from the table. Instead they did the interview, took snippets from it out of context to use in the print edition which portrays him in an relatively unfavorable light. Then they wrote ADAM a letter, not 19 who they say they’re upset at, but Adam which means it’s really Adam that has them pissed off because he is not carrying the political mantel the way they want him to. It was a backstabbing, dishonorable piece of journalism.

  231. I think there is no reason to fret, Sue, just give it time. He has a solid thing here and hopefully a solid band. Now he just needs to get out there and kick some ass and sell his album to the public.

  232. I see our spammer is back. How sad. I wish I had an ‘ignore’ button to keep my screen clean.

  233. Greeaaatttt….perez has picked up on the out editor letter thing….honestly, i am worried that this is going to turn into a big old mess (I hold both 19 and out responsible!!!!!) and overshadow his album release…i really hope not

  234. If we stop discussing the OUT issue maybe it would go away… nasty stuff.. they just did this for the attention I am sure.

Not to belittle the issue’s that are obviously out there.. it just seems this is a very negitive way to go about something. And it is not targeting the right people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  235. Of course Perez would pick up on it. He had a post about quotes from the out interview earlier and he loved it.

  236. My least favorite song so far, which I suspected from the snippets, is Aftermath. I don’t actively dislike, it, it just doesn’t compare to the rest as a unique artistic creation that stands on its own and I would hate to think it was included here solely because his friends wrote it and at the expense of better tracks (Master Plan, anyone??). Maybe it’ll improve for me after repeated listenings, but what’s notable is that the rest are already amazing at first listen – that RARELY happens for me!

As for FYE, it may not be the BEST song on the album, but that’s very subjective, and everyone will have their own favorite (I personally love it, just for different reasons). I mean, on what amounts to a Greatest Hits effort, what song could you NOT pick (uh… other than Aftermath). More importantly, since when does the first single ever represent the BEST song? I would think the first single is typically chosen for whatever best represents the message and artistic direction of the album and what’s most likely to get noticed, and in this case, the FYE message is clear – that this isn’t Idol Adam! Bring on the AMAs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  237. Greeaaatttt’ ¦.perez has picked up on the out editor letter thing’ ¦.honestly, i am worried that this is going to turn into a big old mess (I hold both 19 and out responsible!!!!!) and overshadow his album release’ ¦i really hope not

what is he saying – or do i really want to know??

  238. This is a kick-ass album. Gets you feeling high with Fever, Strut, Music Again, Sure Fire Winners. then brings you back down to earth with Soaked, Loaded Smile and the heartbreaking Broken Open. I can’t get over how good this album is and he did it in such a short period of time. The lyrics are so personal, even on those he didn’t have a hand in writing. This album is all Adam in his glory and I am very proud to be a fan. Love him.

  239. what is he saying ‘“ or do i really want to know??

he has 2 separate posts…one of the letter and one of the writers’ response to the letter….he says out has valid points, does point out that they were not pointing fingers at Adam, but at the record company and management…but then demands that Adam himself respond to all of this

Not that bad, the comments are primarily favorable to Adam. He basically says that they are calling out 19 and that Adam has a hard choice to make, what’s it gonna be.

  241. what is he saying ‘“ or do i really want to know??

He wants Adam to choose the gay community or his music career basically. Here is how Perez leaves it:

What’s interesting is that both Aaron Hicklin and Shana aren’t pointing any fingers at Adam directly, but merely putting the ball in his court to see how he will respond to these allegations.

In essence, they are calling him out to either be a figure for gay the community or just another cog in the mainstream music machine. It’s hard to know which way he’ll go, considering he owes his career to the mainstream media, but at the same time, he has an obligation to himself to have the kind of image he can live with.

    We’re waiting, Adam.

What do you have to say?

  242. oops, I skipped Whataya Want From Me cuz I have already heard it and I must say I like it now especially the beginning :)
    finally some good fucking music!

  243. I feel that Sure Fire Winners, Strut & Mater Plan are the songs on the album that really represent the most “new” type sound or music on the album..they are really different from any music you hear or have heard. Well done Adam!

  244. this is my 5th streaming!!!
loving all of them!!! hope it would be available in my country really soon!!!!
    an awesome album!!!

My thought is this will all be a distant memory after the AMA’s

  246. Someone slap me, I’m going to defend Perez. I think he’s giving Adam a specific opportunity to address this. Something that the editor of Out did not do before going to print with that letter from the editor.

  247. Yeah TheSpindleshay, I liked Perez first post about the interview too. *shrug* He’s been very nice to Adam lately…

  248. Why does Adam have to choose or get involved. perez should mind his own business.

  249. totally fabulous!! love them all but its “Sleepwalker” that cuts through me a like a hot knife through butter!

I love big rock type ballads so ‘Aftermath’ is totally terrific to me as is TFM. But again, the whole CD is worth listening to over and over and over and over….

  250. I can only concentrate on Adam ´s album today. Nothing else matters for me.

  251. Someone slap me, I’m going to defend Perez. I think he’s giving Adam a specific opportunity to address this. Something that the editor of Out did not do before going to print with that letter from the editor.

This is where I think Out is wrong. Just because this Hitchens wants to be defined by his sexuality doesn’t mean Adam has to be. Adam is a man who happens to be gay. His gayness shouldn’t define who he is as a singer or an artist. Taking a picture with a “6 foot barbie” as Hitchens puts it doesn’t make Adam less gay and being gay doesn’t make Adam less of a man.

Us progressive thinkers need to start taking over these media publications. lol His sexuality should be a non issue.

  252. I HAVE THE BIGGEST SMILE ON MY FACE THAT I KNOW WON’T LEAVE ME ALL Day!!!!!! ADAM….this album is AMAZING!!!!! We waited so long to hear this album but it was well worth the wait. I can’t stop listening to every song….I really feel like I finally have music to listen to and be excited about again! Thank you, Adam, for staying true to yourself and making one ‘kick ass’ album!!

We’re waiting, Adam.

What do you have to say?

Thanks for posting this guys. This is just adding more pressure on Adam’s shoulders in my opinion. What do they want him to do tell his managment to screw off?????

  254. Thanks for posting this guys. This is just adding more pressure on Adam’s shoulders in my opinion.

Isn’t this what the editor wanted? He wanted to force Adam in a situation where he HAD to take a political stand.

They don’t seem to take no as an answer.

  255. We’re waiting, Adam.

What do you have to say?

Yo, Pe-Hil (refusing to give him Google Hits).

Adam has said it already: MASTER PLAN.

Not choosing, don’t have to, there is no war, there is only made up separations meant to foster power structures that no longer serve.

One can honor the fight of those who went before by living, gratefully, in the freedom so painfully hard won. Master Plan couldn’t be clearer, Adam won’t line up in the old ways.

Refusing to be defined and wear a label is about as radical a revolutionary act as anyone could desire. Putting talent before political descriptors is Adam’s way of taking to the ramparts.

  256. You can hear Alisan Porters voice really well on the Aftermath starting in the second verse around 1:15…that is really sweet he let his friends work on this song with him..how special for them!

  257. Adam has said it already: MASTER PLAN.

With all due respect, FSH, Adam’s own words in the interview said it much better and more explicitly than the song. Too bad editor-boy didn’t bother to read it before foaming at the mouth.

  258. Gosh, this album is amazing. It’s strange how every time I listen I have a new favorite.

This is what Perez has wanted all along, so it’s not surprising that he seems to be siding with Out. They haven’t been able to get him politically involved so now they are trying to force him to take sides. Poor Adam, I guess he is supposed to be the gay messiah whether he wants to be or not.

  260. Greeaaatttt’ ¦.perez has picked up on the out editor letter thing’ ¦.honestly, i am worried that this is going to turn into a big old mess

This is fucking nonsense and frankly its annoying. Why cant ppl just listen to his music? and who does Perez think he is demanding Adam to “choose”? WTF? Adam doesnt answer to him or anyone else. He wants to focus on the music and be an entertainer, not a civil rights activist. He is already doing the gay community a favor by being honest and showing ppl its ok to be yourself. Why isnt that enough?
If it were me I would tell them to fuck off. I dont think he will loose any fans for this because those who have his best interest at heart love him for the right reasons.

  261. I’m glad so many people love Adam’s album, but there is only one song I will be downloading, “Broken Open.” Some of the dance tunes are kind of fun, but they sound too much like Mika’s “Blame it on the Girls” and Sam Sparro’s “Black and Gold,” both of which I already own.

There’s at least one other song (“Loaded Smile”) that I like until about 2/3 of the way through, and then it just devolves into, for me, wretched excess.

I thought I was going to love “Soaked,” because I liked the Muse demo version and I floved what Adam did to their version of “Feeling Good,” but the key change on “Soaked” kind of ruined the song for me, turning it into a giant musical theater number. Yuck.

And I hate, hate, HATE “Surefire Winners.” It sounds like a cheezy re-working of “We Are the Champions.”

  262. We’re waiting, Adam.

What do you have to say?

My response if I was Adam.. Kiss my A**.. Thank God I am not Adam..

  263. I seriously believe that Adam is going to let this die down, PH be damned, and then he and 19 will deal with this as they see fit. As noted, they have no issue with his being true to himself (hence the album cover and prob the AMAs and the video). We may never know what they or Adam had to do with Out, but they will end up the loser, as their scales are going to tank and the response has been extremely unfavorable. I do not understand why Adam cannot be a singer who is gay and not the homosexual poster boy. He is been extremely candid about who he is; why can’t this be enough? I remain baffled.

And continue to enjoy his music, and still find that WWFM is extremely relevant.

    And to his fans:

    Thanks for loving me
    Cause you’re doing it perfectly

  264. I read some of the comments to the OUT editors letter and I am getting the picture that for many in the gay community you are either in the closet or on the barricades. There seems not to be room for something in between?

Thanks for posting this guys. This is just adding more pressure on Adam’s shoulders in my opinion. What do they want him to do tell his managment to screw off?????

Yes Perez regardless of intention is adding more pressure to Adam. Right now Adam is getting ready to promote an Album, perform live on television, and hit as many press junkets as possible. His priority is his album not whether gays are being treated fairly or not. I think the issue of whether Adam is being treated fair is for Adam to decide not Hicklin, not Perez. Again Perez, Hicklin, and even the journalist are arguing for their own agenda by using Adam as their tool. 19/RCA maybe manipulating some of Adam’s press for their best interest but Hicklin, Perez, and the journalist are also manipulating the press for their own political and activist gains.

  266. My response if I was Adam.. Kiss my A**.. Thank God I am not Adam..

Perhaps a “kiss my dick” would be more appropriate; same for Gene Simmons. They’re both just opposite sides of the same coin that has no monetary value in the real world economy. Ignore ’em and go for the GOLD, I say…. and Platinum…

  267. I agree with you MJ. The snippets did not do this album justice! I am very impressed with this album and can’t wait to purchase it (I still prefer actual CD’s). I will buy Kris’ CD as well, but it will be this one that gets the attention. There are songs I like more than others (Broken Open, Soaked, WYWFM to name a few) but none that I dislike. I also appreciate the fact that the songs were placed so they didn’t bleed into one another, a factor probably due in part to the fact that Adam held true to his promise that he would have a diverse sound on is CD.

Still wish the front cover art was different, (still think it doesn’t help him in anyway) but I’ll change that myself on my copy.

  268. @AimeeMayo

@suebrody1 where can i hear it …………………………………………………………..i gotta hear it……. 10 minutes ago from web in reply to suebrody1

I hope she is listening to it right now. :)

ptslittlecomment right back atcha. What I love is that they are separated (just like on Idol, whatcha know?). The only thing I would have done is separate TfM from BO, b/c they are both slow songs (tho BO ismore poignant, IMO) and switch up the order. But this album is so diverse, and that is why I love it. Oh, and b/c Adam’s voice, as always, is *spot on*.

  269. With all due respect, FSH, Adam’s own words in the interview said it much better and more explicitly than the song. Too bad editor-boy didn’t bother to read it before foaming at the mouth.

Happy to go there, too, anthrogeek

Happy to go anywhere that would strip Pe-Hil and Hinky Dink of their wrapping themselves in battlegarb of a fight that still needs plenty of fighting – JUST FOR THEIR OWN tiny, tiny, tiny dicky, massive self-absorbed ego ways.

Whore-mongering for hits is not fighting the good fight. And trying to under-cut the fire-power of an exciting rocket of new thinking so you can make sure your outmoded power structures don’t dissappear is not fighting the good fight.

Adam’s interview was magnificent. Hick & Pe-Hil are small men, doing small, small, small things. Badly.

  270. Waaaaaaaaaah!!!

The stream stopped working for me- and I was just mid-way through my second listen!!!!
Is this deliberate? Is anyone else experiencing this???
I waited all day like a good girl to finish work and come home and have a decent full volume listen- and now it won’t work!!!!

Saga, this is, for the most part, sadly true. The kind of change Adam wants to promote is that there IS another way. To just BE. I hope people follow his lead. It will be a long road.

  272. @aimeemayo

where are yall hearing Sleepwalker———–streaming——i have to find it yall are freaking me out…. this is a dream come freaking tru

Why didn’t someone give Aimee a copy of the album? :(

I don’t think we need to worry because the minute somone tries to pressure Adam and put him in a box….he does exactly what he wants and remains true to himself and his “Master Plan”! Remember to just ‘keep your eye on the prize’ Adam and not take it all too seriously.

Isn’t this what the editor wanted? He wanted to force Adam in a situation where he HAD to take a political stand.

Totally agree. Out’s Hicklin has an agenda, and Perez does, too. I also don’t like some of the other comments in Perez’s post:

“In essence, they are calling him out to either be a figure for gay the community or just another cog in the mainstream music machine.”

Excuse me, Perez, but why is this an “either/or” situation? Why can’t Adam be a figure for the gay community AND be part of the mainstream music scene? Wouldn’t that be the ultimate win? An openly gay singer being embraced by mainstream media, music industry and public?

“We’re waiting, Adam.” Sheesh. I think Adam doesn’t really owe these people an explanation or any more of his time. The Out folks got a really good interview, which they chose to butcher for their print edition and then accompany with a pissy letter from Hicklin. They got the publicity they wanted and Perez, being a publicity whore, has jumped on the bandwagon as usual. Time to move on.

  277. New “Out” thread up. Part two of the interview and more back-stabbing bitchyness from the magazine.

Can we move this discussion over there and leave this thread for the album discussion?

  278. ‘We’re waiting, Adam.’

Well, he has kept them waiting before!

  279. I am so loving this Album….OMG it gets better and better with every listen. (at number 10) I want my Itunes copy NOW!!!!!

  280. Excuse me, Perez, but why is this an ‘either/or’ situation?

    Precisely, LindaT

And that’s what Adam is saying: No more either/or. Just Being Me & Free.

And Adam’s being a mega-talented, openly gay, smoldering sex symbol of a man wailing out “There he goes my baby…” while (knock wood) selling jillions of albums and being all over TV and the charts hurts the march for equality and freedom, exactly how?

  281. Adam is an incredibly talented singer/performer whose album is soon to be released. He is also an intelligent, charming, articulate man. Adam is one of the sweetest, nicest, loyal persons I’ve seen almost anywhere. He is also one of the most gorgeous men around. Oh yeah, Adam has a brother who is a gifted writer and has two loving, supportive parents; and he is a gay man.

When I think of Adam, what do I think about? A gorgeous, articulate, gifted, talented singer, who is adoreable and sweet.

    Where are our priorities?

  282. Back to the Music. I freaking love FEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I,m glad I am alone so I can blast it on the puter, but the dogs are really gettin sick of the song. He needs a great video for Fever, can you imagine??????LUV where are you have you heard the songs yet, shes gonna be screaming all over the place HEH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  283. So proud to be an Adam fan. I’m going to listen to the streaming today and then go cold turkey till album release. All the waiting has been so worth it.

  284. I have missed a few pages since I left work and FINALLY got to listen! I refuse to let that magazine ruin this day, as far as I am concerned the most important thing about Adam is streaming into my earphones right now. Out can go to hell. Small ripple in the huge Adam pond.

I am happily amazed – the songs I didn’t like as much with the snippets are my favorites! I must have Strut, Pick U Up and Fever on my Ipod immediately. Some of my Daughtry friends ordered his deluxe version of Leave This Town from DO/RCA and they got them in the mail several days before the official drop date. I am SO hoping!

  285. MJ just put up a brand new thread focusing on the “Out” interview and the backstabbing comments from the interviewer.

  286. So in love, once He’s in He owns your heart ~1st listen, excited, looking for his awesomeness amid the music, immediately repeating some, others quickly moving through, 2nd listen, getting the lyrics, thinking, should just be listening, but, every new sound pops, some lovin’ it, some eeeeh 3rd listen starting not to think about any individual part and starting to just hear Adam’s voice, then the 4th listen, Adam’s voice is leading me through a flow of emotions, feeling each chakra opening, all the music is just right where it’s supposed to be ~ surrounding and carrying Adam’s voice to magical places, taking me to ones i didn’t even imagine the album would, i was literally floating in a ‘spiritual light space’ with Broken Open, then, the final richness of Time For Miracles, what a journey, Adam says it ALL with his music, this is a rare gift and we’ll be hearing and feeling new things with each listen ~ Every song is delicious, Thank You Adam, You Beautiful Soul!!!!

  287. Adam is an incredibly talented singer/performer whose album is soon to be released. He is also an intelligent, charming, articulate man. Adam is one of the sweetest, nicest, loyal persons I’ve seen almost anywhere. He is also one of the most gorgeous men around. Oh yeah, Adam has a gifted brother who is a writer and has two loving, supportive parents,; and he is a gay man.

When I think of Adam, what do I think about? A gorgeous, articulate, gifted, talented singer, who is adoreable and sweet.

    Where are our priorities?

    Applause, Best AI, applause.

  288. Sleepwalker and Music Again are my favorites but love them all.

  289. Knowing freaking iTunes, I won’t get my download for weeks, since it has happened before (is still happening) w/ my Kris pass. So it would be sweet if the album came from AO first, b/c 1) the pictures, etc. would be in my hot little hands, and 2) I would actually *have* it. That said, I am perfectly prepared to write an angry letter to iTunes on 11.23. I have done it before.

I am now on listen #6. This is playing all freaking day long and then when I get home. Too bad the gym will interview with If I Had You, a perfect work out song. ;)

  290. Aimee weighs in:

    AimeeMayo

That vocal is so sexy it sounds like honey dripping off a vampires lips. Orianthi is a badass. just listened 2 Sleepwalker 10 times in a row

    AimeeMayo

thank yall for the links… i’m about to go out 2 the studio where i can really blast it. i feel like we all rode a roller coaster together. 1 minute ago from web

    So happy for Aimee. :)

  291. Is that Lisa Harriton (Navarro) from the Smashing Pumpkins ‘ tour band on keyboards? ( in band photo) Looks like her with blonde hair. The drummer was with Yellow Card according to Idol Forums, but I know he also has a number of demo tapes up on YouTunes. Longineu “LP” Parsons.

  292. Coming out of lurkdom (for the second time ever) to say how much I love this album! I cannot stop listening to it either. Especially love Fever, Music Again, WWFM, SFW and Pick U Up. In fact, I could listen to Fever over and over again. I cannot sit still and must dance around when it is playing. It reminds me of some of my favorite Prince songs (which I love to clean my house to). Fever is like this–it just gives you a burst of energy!

Oh, and I love FYE too, by the way. I think the lyrics are fun, I love the double meaning to everything, and when he wails the word “SCREAM,” I absolutely cannot stop grinning. So hilarious and in your face to all the folks who liked to complain about his “screaming.” This kid is absolutely amazing and I will be a fan for life. Cannot wait until the tour!

As for the OUT magazine brouhaha: I hope Adam gives it the “whatever” shrug and just moves on. His interview was amazing–who cannot love this kid? I only hope that as a parent, I can do such a great job of raising my children as his parents have done with him. What a thoughtful and intelligent young man he is, not even counting his amazing vocal and performing gifts.

And by the way, I believe that for the majority of people, it is only about the entertainment. I enjoy listening to him sing and watching him perform. His personal life does not impact his ability to entertain me in any way. I just wish they’d give him his own weekly variety show (on cable, of course!) so we could be entertained with a new performance every week! Oh well, at least we’ll get one on Sunday. DVR at the ready! Album next day! Hooray–it’s a great Adam day!

  293. Someone slap me, I’m going to defend Perez. I think he’s giving Adam a specific opportunity to address this. Something that the editor of Out did not do before going to print with that letter from the editor.

The Perez Hiltons of this world simply don’t matter! Their shallowness and fixations on the inane should be ignored by thinking people so they can sink into the obscurity they so richly deserve.

  294. I wish Adam’s reply would be “Out, Perez, nor 19E is going to put me in any box-regardless of their agenda! They can all kiss my ass-I’m ready to entertain!”

really I can’t wait for your impression and I want a full right up.. lol

I have 2 writing appt’s today I don’t know how I’m gonna concentrate. 5 minutes ago from web

    If we only knew… ;)

  298. I haven’t read all the comments and don’t know if this has been already talked about but…
Do we already know who Lisa in Adam’s band is?

On Monte Pittman’s cd (that Adam tweeted about), Lisa Pittman is singing the backing vocals. Wonder if she plays keyboards as well…

Inspit of my utter dismay at the fact that my live stream has got stuck and so no-more-Adam-for-me-
your post just cracked me up big-time!!!
    *sniff*
    ROTFLMAO!!!

  300. I am so happy for Aimee Mayo. I would say she has one of the best songs on the album, but I really have no clue- my favorites change with each song.

  301. This whole album is just rocking my world.. Not sure I will be able to listen to “Soaked” while driving.. Hell the music grabs me so much I may have to wait until I play it in the car… LOL

  302. Had to take a break but just listened again. WOW.

The last time I felt this way about an album I was 11 yrs old. It was…
    Thriller.

  303. Sue-
Yes, unfortunately, neither that link nor the facebook link- which worked just fine until about an hour ago are working for me anymore…

The first note is heard, and then it just gets stuck… soooo frustrating! I only had one listen in my office earlier- and that was done very quietly, so I really wanted blast it out in FULL VOLUME when I got home…
    But, alas, no such luck.
I won’t give up and I won’t give in, though- cause that’s what Adam asked of me :-) Maybe it’ll work again later!

  304. OMG I can ´t get away from the computer – only as far as the headset cable allows me to dance. Nothing done since I checked this blog after going shopping. All the bags with food are spread all over the floor. But who cares? I am having the time of my life with Adam :-)

Btw, the beginning of Soaked (the music) reminds me of Ravel ´s bolero.

  305. I can’t for the life of me figure out where Adam breathes in the glory note part of Pick U Up. Impressive!

  306. You know the song “Tribute” by Tenacious D? The song about how Jack and Kyle came up with the greatest song in the world one night and then couldn’t remember it because of their encounter with a shiny demon? So they made up a tribute song ABOUT the greatest song in the world?

Soaked IS that song. I am convinced.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcJwz7wu8_s

  307. O…M…G…

The album is everything I’d hoped it would be and more.

It’s gonna be a worldwide smash hit – amazing.

    It’s all happening!

*and I love the band, the look, the eclectic feel, love it*

  308. In addition to everything else, there is just such a sense of humor in some of these tracks.

I really need to get something done today.

  309. Longineu ‘LP’ Parsons.

Since I’m obsessed with finding about the members of the band, here’s what I found out. Lisa is no longer with the Smashing Pumpkins and was doing some solo appearances. The Pumpkins do not list her as a band member. On her myspace, where it says “Band”, she posted “give me a minute – it’s coming”.

It’s hard to tell from the picture posted here because of the netting, but here’s a picture of her with blonde hair.

Soaked IS that song. I am convinced.

I am tottaly on board with this!!! I go to a place it seems only mathew and Adam can take me..

  311. Sorry, mr. :( I hope it works for you later.

I am on #7, I believe, but maybe more than that, I can’t recall, I am just listening to it over and over and over. See, this is why I took Monday off, but maybe I will have to come in, as this is the day I have gotten NOTHING AT ALL DONE.

I love when he laughs at the end of Pick U Up.

And he goes from sassy to sexy to thoughtful and then intimate…geez.

I *love* Tenacious D. Maybe Jack Black and Adam will get to perform together someday. Oh, I have such dreams for Adam….gah….

  312. No one has commented on this but the photo of the band is a little scrunched.
It might just be my computer – set to a ratio for my landscape flatscreen monitor – but if you are seeing them all a little off – try this:
Save it to your computer and then (using Adam as a visual guide, not hard) make the photo taller so they don’t look as squat.

I think they look great. I am excited to see them live next Sunday at the AMAs!

  313. I can’t help but wonder if Out didn’t do this to generate controversy and more attention for itself. After all, Adam is about to release one of the most anticipated CDs of the year; what better way to get yourself noticed than to somehow create a controversy that involves your publication and hope the ensuing brouhaha gets everyone talking about you?

    Yep, way to go AfterElton.

  314. Has AfterElton done an interview w/ Adam? B/c I trust Michael Jenson as a very reputable writer/editor, whereas the editors at Out…are not.

    Will, still no listens? ;)

  315. Has the streaming affected the pre-order sales? Does anyone know? I LUV FEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  316. Am I the only one not getting people comparing Sure Fire Winners to We Are The Champions….besides the word We Are which is in both of them, I really hear nothing the same in the two???

  317. Am I the only one not getting people comparing Sure Fire Winners to We Are The Champions’ ¦.besides the word We Are which is in both of them, I really hear nothing the same in the two???

I don’t get it either (to either We are Champs or We Will Rock You)…they are both anthemy and could be used in connection with sporting events, but they sound nothing alike…you can’t dance to WAC or WWRY, but I can’t sit still when listening to SFW! If I had to pick a favorite on the album, SFW might just be it

  318. Yea!!!!! Adam album!!! Of course it would have to be when I’m out of town and can’t listen yet. But I’m on my way home to listen after having seen Kris this morning on GMA (which was very cool).

    But YEA ADAM ALBUM!!!

  319. I cannot imagine the sound on the CD when this streaming is so good. Can ´t wait. I have just received an email from Amazon UK saying the CD will be delivered earlier – November 26 – So, I don ´t have to wait for too many days :-)

  320. Since I’m obsessed with finding about the members of the band, here’s what I found out. Lisa is no longer with the Smashing Pumpkins and was doing some solo appearances. The Pumpkins do not list her as a band member. On her myspace, where it says ‘Band’ , she posted ‘give me a minute ‘“ it’s coming’ .

    http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2257/1811509489_f28f1ca94d.jpg

  321. Okay- so just because I only listened once and a half- I can still say a few things, right? And I maintain my right to add later impressions when I have a few more listens:
Music Again- Starts out a little like “When Dove’s Cry” doesn’t it? And then it goes on to remind me of Def Leppard- which I adored when I was a kid!!! I really dig it- MUCH more than I liked the 30 sec snippet. The extended snip already hinted that it’s not bad- but I think it’s really good and a good way to start the album.
FYE- I love dancing to it, fun track.
WWFM- I have to say that it’s FINALLY starting to grow on me… especially the subtle guitar in the beginning and throughout. And Adam sounds like he’s right there in the room with you…
Strut- Ok, I’ll have to listen to it a few more times to fully make up my mind.
Soaked- OH EM GEE!!!! What a beautiful song, what a beautiful vocal! Full of win! Agree with Studio57 on this one…
Sure Fire Winners- OK- THIS IS THE COOLEST FRESHEST SONG I HAVE HEARD IN AGES!!! It’s rock, it’s funk, it’s electronica- it’s pur genious Adam and NOBODY but him could pull it off.
A Loaded Smile- beautiful- but I must listen to it again to fully comprehend it… it’s a pretty sophisticated one, and it might become a favourite after a few more listens…
I I Had You- Awsome song! I am so gonna have that one playing in the next party I organize! Pure fun!
Pick U Up- this was one of my favourites even with the 30 sec snips- and it’s just the SWEETEST song ever! And sweet in a genuine way- not a corny way. LOVE IT!
Fever- Once again- fantastic and original- actually, iI like it much better than most of GaGa’s own stuff- truly wicked, mischevious and FUN!!! And a great beat!
Sleepwalker- this will be a huge hit. I mean, MONSTER HUGE. It just works, you know? Who hasn’t experienced that? And Adam just sings it so emotionally… Beautiful.
Aftermath- hmmm, still don’t know what to feel about it- first impression is that it’s a nice song, but not very special… we’ll see
Broken Open- This, along with SFW, are currently my favourite songs. BO is just so SUBLIME- it feels out of this world, yet so sensitive and hypnotizing- a little Mad World vibe there… Wow- just WOW.

If u haven’t fallen asleep yet- thanks for indulging me… :-)

  322. Maybe because I’m more familiar with it than the rest…but I LOVE fye. I think it is the most catchy. It is just so fun and sexy and has an awesome beat.

  323. Having the live stream is fantastic but I know it won’t compare to the actual sound quality of the CD.. and I still find it amazing.. so I think you have amazing will power WILL.. :-) But then maybe your not as much a “flailing” fan as I am today.. lol

  324. Sure Fire Winners- OK- THIS IS THE COOLEST FRESHEST SONG I HAVE HEARD IN AGES!!! It’s rock, it’s funk, it’s electronica- it’s pur genious Adam and NOBODY but him could pull it off.

    YUP….LOVE it

    Will, still no listens?

    Absolutely not!

I am officially stanning you. LOL!

(At least your brain is still intact — mine is totally blown!)

  326. @mr….read your whole post. No falling asleep here. I love hearing what fans think of the different songs.

  327. Thanks Dlee!

Hope the stream works better for me tommorow!

G’night everyone (yeah- here it’s late evening already)!

And pleeeeeeease be positive everyone! There has been way too much negativity for my liking (as if anyone’s asking me, lol) in recent Adam threads- so why do we do this to ourselves? Our guy’s a sure fire winner and NO ONE is going to take that away from him!

  328. I was just wondering (after watching Kris sing LLWD on GMA, and where are the other songs?!):

How the hell is Adam going to sing FYE w/ that band on the GMA stage? :)

Will, how to entice you? Want a snickerdoodle? ;)

Lordy, what to listen to? I love the slow songs, of course, but I need more upbeat music while I do mundane tasks. SFW works–Fever Works–IIHY (hoo boy) certainly works–FYE works–Pick U Up works–MP works (I have it on my iPod).

*still trying to think of his band playing on the GMA stage and giggling*

We are, we are, we are, we are, SURE FIRE WINNERS!!!

(just for mr–hope your streaming works better tomorrow!!!)

  329. My son just came home from school and I told him the drummer from Yellowcard is Adam’s drummer and he went NUTS. He said he has been playing since he was 4 years old and he is THE best rock drummer, lol. Adam just received major cool points with my almost 18 year old- it’s a really good day.

  330. Wow. Reading the comments now has me so excited to hear! Cannot wait! And can’t believe it’s finally here!

  331. Sure Fire Winners- OK- THIS IS THE COOLEST FRESHEST SONG I HAVE HEARD IN AGES!!! It’s rock, it’s funk, it’s electronica- it’s pur genious Adam and NOBODY but him could pull it off.

    YUP’ ¦.LOVE it

Add me to the love it corner. Funky dunky beat is so out there and unlike anything I am hearing right now.

  332. I can’t for the life of me figure out where Adam breathes in the glory note part of Pick U Up. Impressive!

me neither. He doesn’t breathe does he?. that’s my favorite part of the song. it just builds and builds. goodness

  333. Geesh, how are people picking favorites? There are so many good songs on Adam’s album. Even Master Plan, which is a bonus track, is incredible. IMO, veteran singers don’t have this many outstanding tracks on their 15th album.

  334. Suebrody – I was just at gma today for Kris. The space would be really weird for Adam ((it’s very small) so I’m really hoping Adam is performing outside.

  335. Lambert launches his album with a string of U.S. media appearances and will perform live at the American Music Awards on Nov 22.

Next year he hopes to go on tour (“Something that is really exciting and theatrical and massively entertaining”) and said he would love to branch out beyond North America to tour in Europe, Japan and Australia.

See, bridgey, he’s coming to visit. He heard you!

YAY, TOUR! YAY, MEDIA APPEARANCES, YAY, ADAM!!!

    funky, dunky beat: lol

Studio57: your boy is ultra cool.

I still want to see that band play on the GMA stage. 8)

ETA:Well, Mary, now he can’t play inside, even if it’s snowing. The speakers will explode. ;)

  336. Now we won’t have anything to talk about when the album comes out. No snickerdoodles or RS chocolate chip cake or anything.

    *grinning*

  337. OH when I have the album in my greedy little hands there will me much flailing.. maybe though I will have to take it to a fan site.. :-)

  338. Rushed home from work to hear the CD again! I listened at 5:00 am and have been thinking about it all day. I LOVE all the songs. There is something so compelling about each one. Adam has a WINNER with this album.

  340. I’m obsessed with “Strut” at the moment, which is so weird for me because I alwaaaays go for the songs with the big hooky choruses. “Strut” definitely doesn’t have that. Idk, somehow it works. :D

  341. luvadamlambert I know exactly what you mean. My second listen I was crying. Seems like it has been such a long journey to get here. Imagine how Adam feels. Crying is good!!!!! :)

  342. I have to say twitter has been blowing up all day with pure joy and enjoyment of Adam’s music- this makes me so happy and I am so glad for him…..

  343. I would REALLY like to see some reviews now. When will they come out? or will they wait until after the official release??

  344. See, bridgey, he’s coming to visit. He heard you!

That would be great, maybe he will play the Palais Theatre – is venue where I have a couple of ins and could get a backstage pass ;-)

ANyone have the lyrics to FEVER?

Just google Lady Gaga Fever… they’ll come up.

  346. All I can say is, Adam’s album sounds this incredible? Wait till his tour when he sings these songs live. I already know I’m not going going to just one. I’m going to as many as feasible.

  347. Wow, yeah. Those 30 second clips made me a bit worried about the album to be quite honest, but now that I’m listening all I can say is… Holy. Shit. This album is everything I expected, plus more. It’s really a crazy, innovative combination of pop, rock, funk and electronic. It is truly amazing. Way to go Adam! I’m so proud of him. <3

After listening to all of the songs all the way through ‘” just once, mind you ‘” my top four (I couldn't pick just three), in this order, are: Aftermath, Sure Fire Winners, Fever and Strut. Following closely are Music Again, Soaked, and Whataya Want From Me. But honestly, I like each and every one of the songs on this album – and that very rarely happens.

So I've conluded that, in the words of Adam, this album is DEFINITELY siiiiiiiiick. (:

By the way, I still stand by my original opinion that "Sleepwalker" sounds strangely similar to "All The Right Moves" by Ryan Tedder. Hm… Halo/Already Gone Part II? I don't know – maybe it's just me. Well, no. I've showed a couple of people the two songs (the "Sleepwalker" I showed them was the extended clip) back to back and they have all agreed with me. Do any of you agree?

  348. will – I’m there with you. Although I did listen to the snippets I. Will. Not. listen to the full album until I get the hard copy on Monday. It’s been tough but I am determined. I can get through this.

  349. I listened to the songs this this a.m. before going to work. Couldn’t get them out of my mind. Made it through two meetings, then came down with a severe case of the gasms and rushed home “sick”. I’m vacillating between extreme excitement jumping up and down to uncontrollable sobbing and sometimes both at the same time. This is beyond AMAZING!!!! When’s the tour? OMG!!!

  350. like these kinds of tweets best, because it means is making new fans:

mruggieri Adam Lambert’s debut, “For Your Entertainment” is surprisingly great. Lots of Bowie/Marc Bolan influence. half a minute ago from web

  351. Phase 1:
I was kind of a bawling fool during the discovery process (Idol show).

    Phase 2:
Then I was a drooling fool during the tour process.

    Phase 3:
I’ve been an anxious, voracious fool these past several months.

    Phase 1 again:
I’ve just listened to all the tracks and I’ve come full circle…. bawling again!! :-)

These songs are so beautiful, fun, sexy and hawt — with a lot of originality. I had complete faith that I would love this album, but I honestly am blown away that I love and appreciate it for many more reasons than it’s just Adam’s voice.

So proud of him. Whether it sells 10 million or 10… or somewhere in between… this album is a journey I’ll take over and over and over again. Love it!

  352. VAlilac, should have looked at her bio before I posted her quote, this makes it more exciting that a fan posting this!

  353. must be from earlier today:
RT @elvisduran: RT @SkeeryJones: Now playing on @ElvisDuran & the Morning Show: Adam Lambert “Whatya Want From Me” 1 minute ago from web

  354. like this, from a rock guy/slash fan:

Radash Listening to Adam Lambert’s new album. Pretty sick! really sounds like new fresh music good mix of songs. boy can sannng. very RocknRoll 3 minutes ago from web

  355. Could NOT wait to get home to listen to them. This was the longest day ever!!!!!!!!

I can’t even decide what I like best. Depends on my mood. I’m so excited!!!

  356. This album is amazing. Only the Beatles have had albums that you would listen and remember and sing along with…every song on the album.

    Thank you Adam.

  357. I’ve decided that if Elvis Duran wants to play WWFM he should go right the fuck ahead. I think every station should play their favorite off this album, because it seems like there is that much chocolately goodness to go around.

  358. Oh, this is so exciting. Maybe more spins for FYE? Also got an email from Sony Pictures, and TfM is prominently displayed (then the soundtrack). Whee!!!

God, I’m dying here. Just dying. This album is even BETTER than I expected. I want Lyndsey to hurry up and review it. I know it’s Kris’s turn, but c’mon, Lyndsey, you know you WANT to! :)

Yay on MRuggieri!!! *jumping up and down*

No adds today, tho. :( Maybe next week!!!

  359. omg,I still can’t comment on the album–too emotional.let’s just say I’m well beyond th point of flailing…(and from me that means something)

I will also just for the record say IT IS THE BET ALBUM EVER
but I’ll comment after my brain recovers

also,my mom will be in another countryvisiting my sick grandpa(not good)but
I can do a lot more web browsing (good).

  360. Why is the Out piece so heavily debated throughout this thread? Really takes the fun out of reading.

  361. Time for us to remember Album isn’t actually released yet… LOL not sure we will see many reviews until closer to actual release date and that is just fine – no point getting people excited about something they can’t actually get. PR 101.

Also lets the grassroots buzz mill do its work, which sounds like is happening via Twitter etc. Is all good. There is a lot of energy building around this. Don’t even expect FYE the single to really make any inroads until post AMAs – got to remember that for now, in lots of people’s minds Adam is still an AI guy and for plenty of people that is a bias that only seeing him do his thang will erase. And I have no doubts he WILL erase it with an exclamation point and a couple of hash tags…

  362. Okay-who is the little cutie in the band all snuggled up with Adam? I think those two are “shippable”. (Is that a word?)

  363. Stunning’ ¦I am speechless

This is how I felt at 3:00 this morning when I listened the first time, (I ended up going to bed at 5:00) 12 hours later I still can’t believe how much I love these songs. This is an amazing album. I wish he could sing Pick U Up on something like Letterman but any of them will be great.

  364. My funny Adam story today – my husband took my phone to work by accident, I started calling it trying to find it from work, no answer – he then calls me back and says – STOP calling me, I am in the middle of a serious meeting and full blast – Adam Lambert(fye is my new ringtone) starts singing, Im about to get rough with you, Im here for your entertainment, etc etc. I am sitting at my desk LAUGHING – my co-worker goes by and says what is so funny, I start to tell her and want to play her the song but she says she will listen when she gets back, she has to pick up her son. Soooo – she then calls me from her car and GUESS WHAT IS PLAYING ON HER RADIO – LOL – thats funny to me – she holds the phone to the radio and says – is This the song you were talking about? Ha – they are playing and playing Adam over and over here – LOVE it – ok I am done

  365. After one listen, hmm, definitely worth buying.

I’ll only listen more until I get the CD next week.

  366. CindyM,

You’re right, does look like he did exactly what he had intended to do

And off topic, word is Lady Gaga snubbed by Grammys…

  367. I hope everyone is currently dancing in their chairs to If I Had You… ;)

    Well, okay, I am…

I just *know* iTunes is gonna screw this up for me…gah in advance.

I truly love this album, and I still think WWFM *should* be the next single, so, you go, Elvis Duran (and OHP, for that matter, lol).

  368. Holy crap rowenainne- did Adam just respond to your blog on twitter? OMG!

  369. I am enjoying this album so very much. It does sound like a greatest hits album. I can’t choose a favorite track and I’m unable to find one that I dislike. There really is something on it for everyone … and lots for me.

It’s wonderful to see so much talent (and a lot of goodness) live up to it’s potential. A lot of fun things; wonderful things … will happen while people listen to this music. So, congratulations Adam. You’ve created something that will improve people’s days. I think it’s fantastic and I love it.

  371. I wanted to rate songs at first but now I think it is meaningless.
The whole album is great and I love like 10 out of 14. I’m curious how and when the album picks the charts. I will be at mjs watching it for sure.

  372. yes Adam, responded and it is being retweeted, so we now have Adam’s response to OUT-gate and it is Roweaiine!!!!

  373. I just finished listening to the entire Live Stream after work today.
    OMG, OMG, OMG!!
There truly aren’t enough adjectives in the English vocabulary to give this album justice. Incredible–yes, amazing, yes–, spectacular–yes……….
Not nearly good enough to describe this masterpiece. I LOVE it all!

I can see why Aimee Mayo was so excited about her song. Sleepwalker is OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD! Bring on the tour, Adam. :)

  374. BTW, why does Adam’s head look so big in that picture? lol

 Perhaps they enlarged the size of other things and his head got bigger as a result.

  375. Could someone post rowenaine’s letter. If Adam thought that she got it right, I would really like to read it … especially after all of our dour discussion of yesterday …

    pls pretty pls

Response to “Open Letter to Adam”
    11/17/09 12:14PM by rowenaaine

After reading Adam Lambert’s candid and revealing interview on the Out website (published in conjunction with their Out 100 print edition) I was disheartened to read an open letter to Adam from Out’s editor-in-chief, Aaron Hicklin, in Out Magazine.

In the letter, Hicklin calls out 19 Entertainment and RCA Records (Adam’s management team and record label respectively) for attempting to ‘neutralize’ Adam’s sexuality and keep his appearances in LGBT publications toned down for fear of his appearing ‘too gay.’ Hicklin expresses frustration that Out was denied a cover during Adam’s American Idol run, and not a little jealousy at the recent Details Magazine cover and photo spread. But further, he criticizes Adam’s management team for heavy-handedness in skewing perceptions in order to not lose potential record sales.

Today, Hicklin’s letter is on the Out website, with supporting commentary by the female journalist who interviewed Adam, Shana Naomi Krochmal. I suspect we may never know both sides if 19/RCA ignores what amounts to a school yard challenge over which team gets bragging rights.

Is Hicklin telling the truth? I don’t know. I suspect we may never know if 19/RCA ignores what amounts to a school yard challenge over which team gets bragging rights.

But is Adam Lambert a prize over which sides need scuffle? That’s where I’m coming up empty.

From what I read in print publications and websites, there seem to be at least two factions in the war over Adam Lambert’s image. On the right, we have the conservative heterosexuals who fear that Adam is too gay for mainstream. On the left are members of the gay community, who accuse Adam of not being gay enough. Somewhere in the middle is Adam, his fanbase’ ¦and the truth.

I’d like to clarify and refute some of Aaron Hicklin’s claims. Others have already done so on blogs, forums, and the mother of all communication vehicles, twitter. But, indulge me.

Hicklin asserts that Adam and team (because the open letter seems to lump Adam in as one of the bad guys) refused an Out cover early on in the Idol competition.
Likely true. But not at all surprising or problematic. Why? Idol contestants are barred from communicating with the press during the show’s run. Entertainment Weekly may have put Adam on their cover before the competition ended, but they used stock photos and existing quotes. No other magazine got a cover story early on except for Rolling Stone, which published their issue two weeks after the show’s conclusion. And based on Adam’s assertion that he is a musician that happens to be gay, rather than a gay that happens to be a musician, most would agree Rolling Stone was the best place for his ‘outing’ after the show’s finale. That’s just good business. Sorry, Hicklin.

    1 point to Team Lambert.

19 and RCA insisted that Adam not look ‘too gay’ on the Out 100 cover.
I have a tough time buying this one. Adam’s album cover is one of the most androgynous-leaning-toward-feminine photos I’ve ever seen of a man. If management were worried, the cover would never have been approved. Surely if the cover of Adam’s own CD portrays him as obviously gay, it would have more effect on his record sales than the cover of a magazine normally only read by the LGBT community.

    1 point to Team Lambert.

Hicklin claims that Adam’s sexuality was neutralized in the Details cover shoot.
Possibly. Certainly, the gay community could see it that way. What turned out to be a series of beautiful, artsy photographs caused some dismay; people saw Adam as manipulating his female fan base into having ‘hope’ that he will someday participate in heterosexual activities. Others, and I’m in this camp, saw the photos as daring (for a gay man) and fun. Adam was playing with gender roles, looking hot, and stressing in the interview his absolute gayness. Looking closely at the pictures, he does not emotionally connect with the model: his eyes are closed in the shots. And the photo where he is supposedly ‘suckling a female breast’ actually shows him with her thumb in his mouth, not her nipple. Details, unlike Out, is not an overtly LGBT publication; it is a men’s magazine ‘“ targeting ‘metrosexuals’ though clearly with a heavy gay readership. It is not atypical for Details to have photographs of men with women. Adam could have (and would have, I’m sure) refused the shoot if he felt compromised. Lots of debate on either side but I’ll narrowly give this one to Hicklin.

    1 point to Team Out.

Adam’s management team thwarted Out’s true purpose:
‘If the Out 100 has a purpose it’s to challenge the kind of apartheid that lays down one rule for gay mags and one for all others. We think you probably feel the same way’”you even say as much’”so we don’t mean to diminish your achievements this year. That’s why you’re in this issue.’

Well, here’s where we fall down the slippery slope and into dangerous territory. Apartheid? Not the word I would have chosen. I’m a vocal supporter of gay rights and marriage equality, but never would I say that the struggle for those rights is akin to apartheid. Aaron, ever been to South Africa ? Your ignorance is showing. Stop being dramatic and focus.

What is your real complaint here? Rolling Stone got the big story, Details got the big photoshoot’ ¦and Out is left holding a group photo for their cover? You had a group photo for last year’s Out 100 as well. So, I’m not sure what the concern is. That 19/RCA didn’t want Adam to be the poster child for LGBT rights by being alone on the cover? I can’t argue with their thinking. Adam has said numerous times in countless interviews that he is not taking up the cause at this stage in his career. He feels his being proudly out is statement enough right now. I agree.

    1 point to Team Lambert.

Most troubling is the Hicklin’s assertion that:
‘You’re a pioneer, an out gay pop idol at the start of his career. Someone has to be first, and we’re all counting on you not to mess this up.’

And so at last we get to the crux of the matter. Hicklin, as editor-in-chief of one of the most visible LGBT publications in the US has arrogantly draped the mantle of Gay Rights over Adam’s broad shoulders. To hell with what Adam wants; it’s not about his career or his life, it’s all about what he can do for the gay community.

Well, I have yet to see the gay community stand up to unequivocally support Adam Lambert. Time after time I read assertions that they ‘voted for the other guy,’ Michael Musto of the Village Voice being just one of the more vocal homosexuals in the entertainment industry to trumpet that ‘“ even tossing the remark into his lead-in to Hicklin’s letter. Blog after blog, comment after comment, I read gay men tear Adam down for his looks, his body type, his choice of clothing and makeup. Not much about the music, I’m afraid. That the most important thing Adam Lambert brings to the table gets swept aside in a debacle to see who can hurl the wittiest and cattiest insults is an egregious and, yes, bigoted, injustice.

1 Point to Team Lambert for even having to read Hicklin’s outlandish quote in print.

Mr. Hicklin, your letter does not vindicate you, your publication, or your cause; it makes you appear petty and bitter. And I’m at a loss for why it was necessary. I’m surprised that you would take this young man and his team to task just as your magazine hits the stands. Since when does a celebrity (and Adam *is* one, whether he chose it or not) get interviewed without certain stipulations from his management?

Surely you’ve considered that a great many Adam Lambert fans were planning to purchase this issue ‘“ that’s a whole new segment of the market that would read the magazine and perhaps learn more about homosexuality and the LGBT struggle for equality. You had a unique opportunity to show how we’re not so very different from one another after all. And instead, you squander that opportunity to launch a personal vendetta ‘“ to rage against the machine and burn the bridge between Out and 19 Entertainment. You’ve effectively alienated a portion of Adam Lambert’s fan base. You may have lost sales. And you put undo pressure on a young man that has said time and again that all he wants to do is make music. All this under the guise of ‘sacrificing the one for the many.’

This mentality (punish those that don’t conform to a hypothetical ‘ideal’ ) is part of why the LGBT struggle is not taken seriously by mainstream America . You do not need to eat your young nor throw your most visible proponents under the proverbial bus. I hope that your tasteless diatribe serves only to bring your hypocrisy to the forefront ‘“ garnering more compassion and support for Adam Lambert than your precious mantle of Gay Rights ever would.

    Today, however, we all lose.
    Score
    Team Lambert: 4
    Team Out: 1
    Progress: 0

  380. Just listened to the whole thing. Incredible is all I can say. I am beyond thrilled! The band looks very cool, too.

Plus, I can’t wait to buy my own copy. I didn’t preorder because I wanted to add to the release day sales figures.

  381. OMG!!!! I need to start checking this site before I go to work…just got home to find this goodie!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you MJ or whoever found this and posted it !!!!!!! I am jamming right now – I think I love all of them!!!!

  382. BTW, I invited Adam to come to MJ’s Blog. I mean, Rowe is famous now. ;) *And MJ already was*

    Team Lambert FTW

  383. OMG Rowennaine . . you must be totally freaking out. I ‘m freaking out for you.

    You rock.

    MJs rocks.

All of The posters here rock.

    After Elton rocks.

Perez, Hicklin and Shana whatever the fuck her name is all suck. I hereby make them the intitial inductees into Larchcat’s Official Perez Hilton Hall of Shame.

But mostly, importantly, Adam, you rock beyond anything I could possibly imagine. And this album, is just , well I think I said it a few weeks ago, it reminded me of Purple Rain in that is just is so unique and epic. I just don’t know what else to say. I have so much to say about all the songs, but wow. I’ll do that later.

Oh, an aside, I can’t wait to hear this all live. And since Monte’s in the band, who else is hoping they play Crawl Thru Fire on tour? Gah.

Go Adam. You don’t owe anyone shit.

  384. LOL editing myself

Yep this ‘“ go Adam ‘“ he will be no bodies fall guy. LOVE HIM.

Nobodies is one word in general use when trying to type via Adam induced dyslexia is seemingly two words…

  385. @adamlambert Entertainment. My band and dancers are siiiiick 4 minutes ago from Echofon

Yep, this is what it SHOULD be about. And for those who don’t think Adam is articulate (fortunately, not on this thread), read this and weep. Boy has Out Magazine lost a significant number of readers.

Does Adam need a Tour Assistant? I am available.

*off to listen to the album again, for the 15th time or so*

  386. wow, Adam really answered:

Dear Aaron, it’s def not that deep. Chill! Guess ya gotta get attention for the magazine. U too are at the mercy of the marketing machine. 31 minutes ago from Echofon

(cont.) Until we have a meaningful conversation, perhaps you should refrain from projecting your publications’ agenda onto my career. 21 minutes ago from Echofon

    Luv his self-respect!!!

  387. Oh, I would also like to add:

Justin Hawkins, Rivers Cuomo, Lady Gaga, Matt Bellamy, Greg Wells, Max Martin, Pink, Rob Cavallo, Aimee Mayo, Ryan Tedder, Ferras, Allisan Porter and Kara DioGuardi (yes! I can’t believe it but yes!) and anyone else who helped let amazing creature produce one of the most beautiful and badass albums I have ever heard:

    YOU ROCK too!

  388. Woops, “helped THIS amazing” Ahh,yes Bridgeymah he makes one lose ones typing control!

  389. Oh, an aside, I can’t wait to hear this all live. And since Monte’s in the band, who else is hoping they play Crawl Thru Fire on tour? Gah.

    SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

wouldn’t it be cool if they made it a tour staple?

  390. Just read your letter rowenaine! Great analysis. Really well said. BRAVA!!!!

    Thanks for posting it Saga

  391. I was out (NPI) all day and just got the opportunity to listen to this gorgeous album. I don’t have words right now. Well maybe one – FUCKING AWESOME!

Fever, PUU, Broken Open, SFW, Soaked – oh nm. I love each and every one. I am so impressed and so moved. And now, reading Adam’s comment to Rowe, I’m in tears. How can a shitty day turn out so beautiful?

  392. LOL correction to my correction “nobodies” should indeed have been nobody’s for correct grammatical use of possessives.

    Thanks :-)

I wondered who pointed Adam to Ro’s post?

And back to the music suffering severe discombobulation as my iPod is stuck on shuffle and going from Adsm SFW to Lizz Wright is just a bit big of a jump for my brain.. LOL

  393. Thanks

No thanks necessary. I just couldn’t resist ’cause your post was LOL.

  394. wondered who pointed Adam to Ro’s post?

I know some posters from Planet Fierce tweeted it to him, and they might have posted a link to PF. Or else he could have seen the links here at MJ’s.

  395. OK, I caved. I listened to the stream again. Damn, I’m really loving it. Now I wonder whether I sould buy that delux thing on ITune. It IS quite more expensive than the normal one though. I’m cheap, I know.

  396. It’s worth it, AllexTX, b/c you get extra treats from iTunes. I can’t believe I spent $29 (with tax) for the one from AO/Sony, but it’s a once in a long time thing (not lifetime, b/c Adam will absolutely do this again :)).

I want this on my ipod now’ ¦..

    I second this….:):):):):):)

  398. @lyndseyparker

1 last thing on all this: I assure you when I eventually interview Lambert again, his sexuality won’t be discussed. Focus will be on MUSIC. 4 minutes ago from web

Lyndsey retweeted the link to the PF post AND as usual will be above board. The only party that will end up being screwed in the end is Out Magazine. As it should be.

BACK TO THE PAH-TAY. And I can’t get FYE out of my head now…thanks a lot, Adam. ;)

    ETA: Lyndsey’s favorites:

FYI, my fave Kris songs are “Can’t Stay Away, “Written” & “I Need To Know.” Fave Adam songs are “MUSIC AGAIN,” “If I Had You” & “Pick U Up.”

  399. Well, kids, it’s been pretty damned fun day! I am going to the gym, but I’ll be back later. I wish I had these songs on my iPod. How to wait for Monday. ;)

    laterz

  400. Fever and Sure Fire Winners… The beat on both should be labelled with a warning – this is potentially addictive and may lead you to commit acts of public joyfulness and dancing. LOL

  401. Jeez….I just CAN”T pick one song. Pick U Up, Music Again, If I Had You, Sleepwalker, Sure Fire Winners, Soaked…..Damn…I’ll just name the whole friggin CD!

  402. The songs kinda in the order of which I liked most to what I just plain didn’t like at all.

I think this is just a genre I’m really picky about. So much of my musical “wheelhouse” incorporates the different things Adam is going for with this album.

A lot of the songs are very catchy and fun, and that’s all I ask for in an Idol album. They’re never going to change the world with these things. Just like Kris, it’s not really anything new, and maybe a few years behind, but unlike Kris, Adam’s genre lives on the current and cutting edge. He’s taking a huge risk, and I hope it pays off for him.

Sleepwalker is a legitimately good song. A bit overproduced, but this is Idol. I like it.

Broken Open…seriously, what is it with the Limahl?! (see further down)…still a good song. I love the production on this (IKR?). Great orchestration. The song sounds out of place on this album, but if Adam goes in this direction in the future, I wouldn’t mind following him.

I do love Whataya Want From Me. It’s that 80s soundtrack pop sound that’s my biggest guilty pleasure. Maybe it could be a radio hit. Maybe because I associate with my guilty pleasure music they never play on the radio I’m just not seeing it. It is crazy catchy.

I like Aftermath waaaay more than the snippet. Again, it’s that 80s soundtrack music. Very hair band too, and I don’t usually like that kind of stuff. Lots of fun.

I’ve got to give it to Kara, Strut doesn’t suck. This may be a first for her. Very fun song.

If I Had You…wow, that chorus…very Limahl…and a really old dance beat. It’s catchy though….I’m not sure on this one.

There are a few songs that I hear, and all I think is of the artists who’s doing it better. Like Mika and Music Again and Fever. or Soaked – which is admittedly a Muse song – which sounds like a Broadway version of Muse. On the flip side, I never realized that if Muse did a musical it would sound a lot like Chess. I don’t dislike the songs. They just make me want to go listen to the original artists instead.

A Loaded Smile…I think this might grow on me, but right now I hear too much Limahl (Did his producers love Neverending Story as a kid or something?)…with a lot of what I think is supposed to be ironic 80s synth. No lie, I thought of 80s Doctor Who sound effects. This reinforces the fact that I don’t think Adam gets how sincere he comes across.

Pick U Up was improved by hearing the whole song, and I finally here Rivers Cuomo in the writing. I’d just rather here Rivers sing it. I just really don’t like this interpretation. Way too sincere, IMHO.

I don’t like Sure Fire Winners. It’s just bad cheese for me (for you). A poor man’s You’re the Best.

I think I’ve already said I found Time for Miracles to be I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing 2.0. Awful.

Will more than likely buy a bunch of singles instead of the full album. Just can’t justify the whole thing.

  403. i love pick u up. dat voice.dat voice.is.unbelievable.love.how.he.did.not.breath.there.so great.singer.EEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRR!!!

and ROWE Thanks…glad i’m on the right TEAM

  408. Will

Are you still there? I’ve been admiring your fortitude over this past week but now I have become worried for you. This is an odd line of thinking but … and I hope not to offend, worry, or upset you in any way … but … what if … what if you get hit by a truck between now and the 23rd? You will have abstained and missed it all. No Adam for you … ad infinitum … in perpetuity … a fate worse than death.

So, go on Will … have a listen … just one … just in case …

***But please be really really careful either way. You are loved and admired in these parts.

  409. I hope everyone realizes the band picture is from the video shoot on Sunday and I am sure these guys (and gal) clean up real nice.

  410. Bowie1,
Don’t visit the site either, but heard Rickey likes it a lot

Anyone else who visits know for sure?

  411. This is what Rickey said about Adam’s album:

“This album is amazing. I can’t wait for my copy.”

I know I shouldn’t have gone over there, but curiosity got the best of me.

  412. After listening to the whole sucker again, its official I love ‘FEVER the best, I can picture Adam doing it live and in a video. Maybe later I will have a new favorite, cause there are some right behind FEVER. I hate to say what is my least favorite. And HAHA the CD is Rainbow?????

  413. larchcat,

I have been desperately hoping, okay obsessing, about Crawl Thru Fire live in an Adam Lambert concert.

I even had tweeted a question about it in an early Laura Saltman interview and squeeeed uncontrollably when Laura asked him about it.

Crawl Thru Fire was the first vid I saw of Adam and I love it…

wow can’t wait til I can get my itunes version of this fantastic cd onto my ipod.

This cd is really a magnificent work of art, all of the songs are different, the cohesiveness is THE VOICE, ADam’s voice, just beautiful…

  414. I need to stop basing opinions of 30 second clips.

Much like Kris’s album I was PLEASANTLY surprised by this album! I’m like so much of it!

And I was so underwhelmed by the 30 second clips, this album has such surprises!

I’m loving “Fever”, “Soaked”(really really loving Soaked), “Strut”, “Sure Fire Winners”(which I hated based on initial 30 second snippet) and the other ones are growing on me.

Strangely enough the ones I like least are: “What do you want from me” and “For Your Entertainment”.

“Music Again” well, I like the chorus and that’s about it.

Overall, hearing the complete streams I’m soooo pleased.

  415. dab1234…I think he might sing “What Do Ya Want From Me” since wasn’t that the second song to leak after FYE? And wasn’t there some earlier discussion about it might being the first single?

  416. um, why did the link for the music just stop working?!?!?! someone please tell me it will start up again?!?!

  417. dab1234
    11/17/2009 at 8:04 pm
So what does anyone think Adam will sing along with FYE on GMA???

Can we just have him perform the whole album.. :-P

  418. did anyone see FYE got an add today in top 3 market:

    * CKZZ-FM Pub 10 Canada-Hot AC Vancouver RCA/RCAMG Astral Media 3 11/17/2009 2:14:00 PM

  419. Rowe congrats to you and Planet Fierce for eloquently and reasonably representing the majority of Adam’s fans. I’m so glad he saw it.

Now back to the music which I have linked to everyone I know. I listened to the stream all day (home after dental surgery), and I am ecstatic with this album and so happy that the beginning of Adam’s dreams are coming true. Quality wins out!

  420. Ok Bowie1 I like WWFM, but I like spinastory’s idea better. The whole album, YES… :) I can’t wait for 11/23 to actually see him perform again. It has been MUCH too long. Will love whatever he does.

  421. I agree dab1234..I just want to see him “performing again”, too!!!! He could get up there a sing the ‘phone book’ and I’ll be smiling ear-to-ear!!

  422. Whoops! I can’t edit. I didn’t mean to put all that in bold print!

  423. I’m not sure if this is the trend in every Walmart and not sure if it’s been discussed, but when I went to purchase Kris’s CD (which was looking & sitting pretty top tier end aisle above John Mayer), I was surprised to see Adam’s Take One CD perched right there next to Carrie Underwood’s. I wasn’t expecting that. The cover isn’t bad either. I don’t know if 19/RCA worked out some deal with the TAKE ONE producers or what. I was just surprised that Walmart and 19/RCA didn’t work something out to keep it out of their inventory. Those that don’t know, I’m more than certain will think it’s Adam’s debut album. Kris was on the end, Carrie was next to Kris and then Adam … oh, and Justin Beiber. Get this, Beiber’s CD was priced at $8.00. So if he sells a lot of units that will be a prime reason.

I don’t know if this is an issue or not. I’m sure everyone has seen that Take One was on last check #41 on POP ALBUMS. Will Adam see any money from this?

  424. So what does anyone think Adam will sing along with FYE on GMA???

I think it’s possible he’ll perform Whatya want from me on GMA. I think that’s why they floated it early to get people familiar with it.

Will Adam see any money from this?

since he was not a signed artist and since none of the songs were written by him, I’m guessing no one, from Adam to Monte Pittman, will see a dime.

  425. Will

Are you still there? I’ve been admiring your fortitude over this past week but now I have become worried for you. This is an odd line of thinking but ‘ ¦ and I hope not to offend, worry, or upset you in any way ‘ ¦ but ‘ ¦ what if ‘ ¦ what if you get hit by a truck between now and the 23rd? You will have abstained and missed it all. No Adam for you ‘ ¦ ad infinitum ‘ ¦ in perpetuity ‘ ¦ a fate worse than death.

    So, go on Will ‘ ¦ have a listen ‘ ¦ just one ‘ ¦ just in case ‘ ¦

***But please be really really careful either way. You are loved and admired in these parts.

I’m not only here, I just got through reading this entire thread (whew!). NewFan and suebrody, neither bribes of snickerdoodles nor warnings about my possible imminent demise will sway me. Nice try though!

I’m particularly struck by the almost unanimous squeeing and flailing in this thread. Although people do have their preferences, there don’t seem to be any particular tracks that are agreed-upon duds. FYE and WWFM are the ones that provoked the least amount of superlatives though, if my speed-reading skills haven’t failed me. Many didn’t mention FYE at all in their rankings, which may be because it’s already been discussed to death, but since I’m decidedly meh about that song, I’m hopeful that everything else on the album outshines it.

Now I’ll go give the second half of Kris Allen a listen, which I STILL haven’t gotten around to!

Oh, and NewFan, you’re awfully sweet. *blush*

So what does anyone think Adam will sing along with FYE on GMA???

I think it’s possible he’ll perform Whatya want from me on GMA. I think that’s why they floated it early to get people familiar with it.

Ok, that makes sense, but what about the other two songs? Doesn’t he do two live and two later, or something? Also, does anyone know where FYE is on Itunes list now?

  427. Finally got a chance to listen at home with the stereo cranked way up and I am truly blown away by this album.

Adam (with RCA’s go-ahead) has produced an amazingly well-produced, cohesive product and I have a huge grin on my face thinking that Adam was able to bring his vision to fruition.

I mean supposedly AI debut albums are never very good and full of compromises, well Adam has broken that mold. This is a great effort and I am loving the end result’ ¦

    Can’t wait for the 23rd.

  428. I have to stop listening.. I don’t want to let go!!!!!!!!! Sigh
    Goodnight sweetmusic everyone!

  429. supposedly AI debut albums are never very good and full of compromises, well Adam has broken that mold. This is a great effort and I am loving the end result’ ¦

YESSS! He did not dissapoint. He is offering us what he promised and even more. :-)

The audition for the dancers is great!!!!

  430. I’m back!!! Boy, Adam looks SO hot when he is auditioning the dancers (emo hair!Adam). I worked out listening to MP (wow, has that changed meaning for me after the Out bullshit) and FYE and thought, MORE MUSIC, I WANT MORE MUSIC ON MY NANO ;)). And what say he about a video *and* the AMAs…hrm…

I am so happy when he is happy. Happy happy joy joy. 8)

  431. And what say he about a video *and* the AMAs’ ¦hrm’ ¦

I wondered about that, too. Are there going to be two vids for FYE????

  432. I can’t get over how really great this whole CD is. Never, ever thought I would ever see something like this come from Idol!

So happy Adam tried out. He’s amazing. Can’t wait to see him perform on all the shows coming up. There may be alot of drama surrounding Adam, but he makes being his fan the easiest thing in the world. His voice is pure magic.

  433. Adam is totally singing FYE *and WWFM at the GMAs, given that it’s now his second single *grinning*

Anyway…let the DANCES begin (and please keep playing FYE, stations). Only one add today, sads, but wait till after the album drops.

I gots to watch SYTYCD and my computer is not charging (I HATE PCs), but I’ll be back later. Isn’t today the best day ever? Yes, it is. And, hey Adam (if he’s reading–I invited him here ;)), we lurrrve you. We love your bravery, your talent, and YOU.

  434. Hey will I’m still with ya on this. In my weaker moments I just think about how awesome it will be to tear open my CD, put it in and listen to it for the first time. Reading all the great reviews isn’t helping with my willpower but I’m still extremely happy to read them.

  435. almost unanimous squeeing and flailing in this thread.

actually I’m still in too much of a daze to pot my thoughts about for your entertainment.maybe tomorrow? so FOR ONCE I’m not squeeing and flailing:)

    okay gnight peoplezzzzzzzz

(sigh,I haven’t watched sytycd at alll this season)

  436. I’m not only here, I just got through reading this entire thread (whew!). NewFan and suebrody, neither bribes of snickerdoodles nor warnings about my possible imminent demise will sway me. Nice try though!

Well, you can’t say I didn’t give it my VERY BEST EFFORT! ;)

Oh, and I am a HUGE fan of WWFM. I actually find it very poignant, tho I wonder if I am the only one.

No worries. Something for everything and more here. Oh, and I played a couple of tracks for a co-worker, who is actually somewhat tolerant of my Adam love, and she said, Wow, that sounds like Radiohead (I think that was Muse, but also Broken Up, my favorite track on the entire album).

I cannot wait to get this album. That is all. (for now)

And yes, whassup w/ that 2nd video? Now I am salivating even more!!!

  437. I think he was referring to the video already shot for FYE. Wasn’t that this past Sunday – when was this audition video made?

  438. I think he was referring to the video already shot for FYE. Wasn’t that this past Sunday ‘“ when was this audition video made?

You’re probably right. I never thought about when that audition took place. Makes sense.

  439. So, I went to post my thoughts earlier – and my window closed out before I got a chance to publish it. Anyway…

This album is everything I dreamed of. MJ was right – those 30 second clips did Adam absolutely NO justice. To be honest, I really didn’t like about 4 or 5 of those clips, and I like every single one of the songs on the album. I think Adam and RCA did an amazing job keeping everything cohesive, yet diverse. It just works. Whoever said it before me, I agree – Adam has definitely broken that “Idol” mold of a CD that seems to compromise a new artist’s style. I’m so proud of him. <3

As for the songs specifically, these were my top four favorites ‘” after just one listen, mind you ‘” for the pure fact that they stood out to me an incredible amount the first time down the track list. They were, in this order: Aftermath, Sure Fire Winners, Fever and Strut. Even though those are my top 4 (for right now, of course), I absolutely adore every single song that is on this album.

All in all, I think that the album is, in the words of Adam, definitely siiiiiiiiiiiiick. (:

On that note, my original opinion still hasn’t changed about Sleepwalker. I think it’s a fantastic song and Adam sounds incredible on it. But, if you haven’t seen what I thought about the extended clip, here’s what I personally think… I think that Ryan Tedder has pulled another Halo/Already Gone. Sleepwalker‘s track and melody sound strangely similar to One Republic’s new single All The Right Moves. I’ve listened to them back to back several times, and a few of my friends have had similar feelings that I have about this song. Does anyone else agree with me?

  440. Sleepwalker’s track and melody sound strangely similar to One Republic’s new single All The Right Moves

Nope…other than they might have a similar beat…nada nothing.

  441. Nope’ ¦other than they might have a similar beat’ ¦nada nothing.

Really? That’s so strange. I don’t know why I keep hearing the similarities, along with the couple of people I played the two for, 3 of them not being fans of Adam at all. Hmm… Ah well, I still love the song. -Shrug-

  442. I love this album. I was amazed by the number of songs I liked. When I bought Daughtry and Cook’s album, I only liked three songs of theirs. On Adam’s cd, I love 8 of them.

    SOAKED(love, love, love it)
    A LOADED SMILE
    PICK U UP
    FEVER(this one is amazing)
    SLEEPWALKER
    AFTERMATH
    BROKEN OPEN(gave me chills)
    FYE

I can’t wait to see him perform these songs live. It’s going to be mindblowing.

  443. I feel quite deprived since I wasn’t able to listen to the album till 1/2 hour ago. I love the dance beat of FYE and his voice in TFM, but at first listen, my 2 favorites were Fever (had to dance) and Sleepwalker (got tears in my eyes). Then Broken Open, Loaded Smile, Sure Fire Winners, Soaked and Strut (in no particular order) and finally WDWFM, Music Again and Aftermath.
Wow, I haven’t loved an album this much since Prince’s Sign of the Times and before that Led Zeppelin’s Physical Graffiti.
WOW, just WOW!!!! Adam sure delivered and then some !!!

  444. Well, looks like that’s all for this thread tonight…what a great day. *Big sigh of satisfaction*

  445. Although people do have their preferences, there don’t seem to be any particular tracks that are agreed-upon duds. FYE and WWFM are the ones that provoked the least amount of superlatives though, if my speed-reading skills haven’t failed me.

I have been singing the phrase “what do you want from me” in my head all day. Go away phrase! I need the whole album apparently.

  446. Okay, no worries then. I hope Adam sees some profit from it. I’m sure TAKE ONE will be in other stores as well. Floored me to see it so prominently placed. Not looking to ruin your day, just wanted to update. This was a store in Connecticut.

I think you make a great point about some peeps mistaking it for the official album, but hopefully when his real album gets released next week, Take One will be put in some back bin somewhere where it belongs…

  448. Haven’t read all the comments. I went straight to listening to all the songs. OMFG!!! It’s awesome!!! I love all the songs and I can’t pick a favorite. Adam owned every song and he has a way of making me relate to each and every song…feeling it. Ok I feel stupid now…but I can’t help it. Can’t wait for Monday and can’t wait for Sunday to see him perform again!!!

  449. All I need now is the actual cd in my hand!!!! So happy. Great album. So many good songs, I can’t decide my favorites yet, but Fever is amazing and I really love TFM. It gets better every time I listen to it. Gotta go listen again. Later y’all.

  450. I have been singing the phrase ‘what do you want from me’ in my head all day. Go away phrase! I need the whole album apparently.

Yep. I change my mind a lot, but right now that’s my favorite song on the album. Def single #2. Sue me. ;) (no pun intended)

I WANT MY ALBUM, DAMMIT!!! :)

  451. Woooohooooo!

The stream is working for me again!!!!!

I am so going to be late for work today, hee hee…

  452. I went to my local Wal Mart today and there were only three copies left of Adam’s Take One cd. I really, really hope people aren’t confusing this with his FYE cd. They were displayed kitty corner to Kris’ cd’s. Was it ever determined if Adam gets a cut from this cd?

  453. I’m looking forward for Adam’s video and performances in AMA and GMA…I have this faith that Adam will give his very best performance and that will be appreciated by many(fan and non-fan) .

  454. I’m looking forward for Adam’s video and performances in AMA and GMA’ ¦I have this faith that Adam will give his very best performance and that will be appreciated by many(fan and non-fan) .

You know it! :) I am so hungry for an Adam performance!

  455. My 11pm favorite is definitely SLEEPWALKER!!!! That will probably change by midnight because they are all so good but I keep coming back to Sleepwalker.

  456. How amazing would it be to have one of the choreographers use Adam’s music on SYTYCD?!?!?

  457. How amazing would it be to have one of the choreographers use Adam’s music on SYTYCD?!?!?

Yep – The first time I heard FYE I thought what an awesome routine Wade Robson would do with it…

  458. I love this album. It’s fun, multi-layer and sometime sophisticated. The only tracks that I’m not fond of is TFM and Aftermath. They are lack of the fun, eerie or ridiculous vibe coherent in other songs. My fav are sleepwalker, broken open, fever, pick u up and master plan. Music Again and A loaded smile are growing on me.

I’m more curious than ever about Down the Rabbit Hole. I know I’m greedy ;) If Wal-Mart or Amazon’s version has other bonus tracks, I’ll buy my first physical CD after a long time.

I’ve read through the thread and it appears to me that almost all Adam fans are in love with this album :D I have all my fingers and toes crossed and hope that this album appeals to massive music buyers and have a marketing success. Adam needs such success in order to gain faith from RCA and to be able to continue working with all these talented people. If team Lambert can pull off this wonderful album in such a time constraint, we can only imagine how magnificent his second album will be.

ETA, I hope in the future we can hear those redone tracks. They are left out this time probably because they are not in sync with the other songs. But I see Redone and Adam had great chemicals and I believe they had done quality tracks.

urhh, 14 tracks just leave me wanting more…

  459. I’m really concerned about Adam’s ability to get radio play. FYE is the perfect song for Top 40, it’s very current. Is it the song lyrics or is radio rejecting Adam?

I’m happy with the album Adam made with Soaked and Aftermath being my least favorites.

  460. I’m really concerned about Adam’s ability to get radio play.

I think FYE is doing fine given time it has been out. It is getting play and slowly picked up by more stations – in today’s corporatized radio world there is a process to these things. Add the fact that Adam has been so tied up in shooting video and AMA stuff he hasn’t been able to get out and promote it yet. This will come next week with blitz around AMAs etc and album release.

Stay tuned – world domination by our resident alien is coming

  461. Aftermath…nice lyrics but the production is a mess. Can hardly hear melody. Way overdone. Wish it could be redone…deserves better.

  462. Thanks Kanadie:

I don’t know about the picture but the article is excellent. Is USA Today a daily print paper? Will this piece be read online only or will it actually get into people’s hot little hands? I don’t know too much about too many American papers. (but then again, I’m Canadian, so I’m not sure why should I know anything about too many American newspapers). Actually, I think I’m remembering that you’re Canadian too but I could be really wrong about that.

  463. Pick U up, Broken Open, Sleepwalker and Fever are my favorite tracks but I like everything else as well. I’d say that Aftermath is my least favorite except that it has some harder rock-voice moments in it. So. I’m really kind of stuck for a least favorite. Oh well.

But if you forced me … at the edge of a cliff … to choose only one favorite … it would be Pick U Up.

Or Broken Open … aaaaaaaaaa … the bottom of the canyon is coming up to meet me.

Funny/cool huh? I’ve read a number of people saying that PUU is one of their not as good picks (PU!). I guess no two ears hear the same thing. Hmmmmm OK. No four ears hear the same thing.

    It’s getting late.

  464. Is USA Today a daily print paper?

    Yes…5 days M-F.

I am not Canadian..I am in Las Vegas, but I used to be married to a french Canadian from Montreal if that counts…LOL!

  465. Hi Kanadie

Yes. It almost kinda counts, maybe. But we could make you an honorary citizen if you ever decide to visit. :-)

  466. I would have said “Music Again” would be my least favorite track. (It’s impossible to pick a favorite!) However, that’s the song that’s been running through my head all day. Oh well, just throw it in there with all my other favorites!

  467. Oh well, just throw it in there with all my other favorites!

    Picking a not-favorite … It’s a real problem! … of sorts.

    Night all.

  468. Don’t know if someone already mentioned this, but FYE single is climbing slowly but steadily back up the chart. It’s at #58 right now. That surprises me considering the lack of radio adds from yesterday.

  469. Don’t know if someone already mentioned this, but FYE single is climbing slowly but steadily back up the chart.

Any publicity is good publicity as long as you’re not in handcuffs! But seriously – I am sure with the coming Adam storm it will keep on climbing… people need to have a little faith.

  470. As always I’m late to the party. I just needed to say, I’m just astonished by this album. Adam and his team delivered. On my book, everything he promised about an eclectic album for every situation has been accomplished. I’m a very, very, happy fan. Every single second out of the wait, the expectation, it’s all been worth it.

  471. A Loaded Smile could easily become one of my favorite songs ever. If I was deciding in advance the songs I wanted for the soundtrack of my life, this track would be there. It’s my favorite Adam song for sure.

Least favorite? I could live without Sure Fire Winners. But that’s about it, the rest of the album is delicious.

  472. A Loaded Smile could easily become one of my favorite songs ever. If I was deciding in advance the songs I wanted for the soundtrack of my life, this track would be there. It’s my favorite Adam song for sure.

Least favorite? I could live without Sure Fire Winners

    .

So funny! I am the exact opposite…i LOVE SFW and have been playing it over and over an over…i am meh on Loaded Smile (its not bad, its just not among my many favorites)….there is definitely something for everyone on this album

  473. Wow. What fun this album it! Love it to pieces. Still need to work on Music Again. Only song that hasn’t seemed to instantly inprint on my brain. How lucky we are to be around to see an entertainer come along who wants to have fun!

  474. Least favourites are Aftermath and maybe Music Again. I don’t think MA is a bad song, just that I personally don’t dig it. Aftermath is too bland for me, would trade it for Master Plan is a second.

  475. i love pick u up from the start, how can adam maintained not breathing on the bridge of this song? he really has the pipes!!! simply shocking!! and outrageously amazing!!!

  476. Sure Fire Winners is THE SONG on the album, as far as I’m concerned. It’s the one that stands out as something totally special and “Adam only”. I think this one was the one Rob Cavallo referred to when he said the songs sound like nothing else- it’s not rock, it’s not pop- it’s an “Adam” style. And yeah- great job with the production Rob! Score!

Ofcourse- there are eight more tracks I simple adore on this album- some are really really sensitive and touching, and some are just soooo fun and sexy and freaky- simply unbelievable :-)

And like so many have said- even the ones I like a little less are actually not bad at all- and I’ve heard a lot of my least favourite mentioned by others as their favourite, and vice versa- so it’s all great!

  477. Ok, don’t know who is around here, but does anyone know anything about the band members? like, do they sing backup or will there be others to do that? just curious. :)

  478. I am at work and cannot read back at this moment but something has been bugging me all night. The beginning of Fever – “mine, mine, mine,mine…..

Does anyone remember Finding Nemo? The seagull scene, when they are fighting over the food? Mine, mine, mine…..

If this was what Adam was thinking, I flove him even more. He is brilliant! What better image for a “bar scene”?

  479. I am sitting at work early listening to FYE and just crying because I have fallen in love with music again (and not just MA) and it is all because of Adam…wow……Adam thank you so much, so much. This is the best album I have heard in a very long time. I love so many of the songs, just when I think oh yeah Loaded Smile is my fav then oh no it’s Pick U Up…wait no, Soaked…it just goes like that from song to song….truly amazing, well done!!!!! Again, thank you so so much. I am so looking forward to the videos, the AMA’s and everything else to come. More please!!!

  480. yay adam made it to the list of sexiest men alive at number 10. hu could have tot!!! weeeee!!!!!!!!!love yah adam.

  481. So last night, with butterflies in my stomach, I had my husband listen to FYE on facebook. Background: He is in his fifties, loves music – used to be in a band, now works in the film industry. He is definitely not in the AI bubble.
He knows I have really been following Adam-especially during the summer when he was on location, and I had a lot of time on my hands. He has never seen me like this before about any entertainer, and so he has been somewhat intrigued. Anyway, he LOVED the album. He loved Soaked, sleepwalker, fever, fye, strut, broken open… and others and said he thinks the album is solid and holds together as an album because of similar production and Adam’s voice, which he thought was sometimes really beautiful and sometimes really cool. Of course, I already thought the album was solid, but I loved hearing someone not in the AI bubble, who is very critical of music, really impressed. Oh yeah, and he loved Master Plan and wishes it would have been one of the main tracks. So glad I wont be driving him crazy listening to the album on our Thanksgiving drive. :) Score one more fan for Adam!

  482. My favorites are still PUU, Fever, Soaked. The rest are a close second! IOW I love them all. At first I wasn’t as impresed with MA and IIHY because they sound a bit more processed, but the more I listen the more they grow on me. Not a bad song on the album. Not even a ho-hum one. I had high expectations and this surpasses them by a lot!

  483. Hmm… just read the USA Today article. I always like to read interviews of Adam, but when I read the comments underneath articles like this, I often find myself wondering what is wrong with some of those people?! It is unsettling seeing this side of America.

  484. Yes it is unsettling, and I try to never read comments, since people can hid behind their computer and post what ever the hell they like, its scarey. I would never even have the nerve to post something so awful and no one would even know who I am. I actually never even have those thoughts. So many people need to get a live and find things to make themselves happy, not ugly to other people and what they do or think. Just Just Ug, I try to stay in a happy place and believe me I have no reason to. Adams songs coming out yesterday made me soooo happy and along with it came all the ugliness, Soo veryy sad.!!!
