News Roundup:
According to Carrie Underwood’s official website she’ll be appearing on this Thursday’s (March 2) results show to perform her hit, “Jesus Take the Wheel.”
Here is an MTV interview with the four contestants who were eliminated Thursday night.
- Becky O’Donohue insists the recently re-published Maxim photos from 2004 had nothing to do with her elimination. She’s open to exploring opportunities in modeling and acting, but singing is her first love.
- Stevie Scott mentions the fact that she was sick the night of her performance.
- Patrick Hall thinks his song choice played a factor in his elimination. Looking back, he feels it might have been wise to stick with what the audience saw at the audition (he sang “If” by Bread). “Amazing Grace” was on his list of songs.
- Bobby Bennett wants to pursue the Broadway stage. He would love to perform in “The Music Man.” After reviewing his performance of “Copacobana, ” he realized it was a little over the top.
Here’s a fun, gossipy article about what idol life is like when the cameras stop rolling. Let’s see…Melissa votes for herself on her cellphone…Kellie is getting (gasp) stuck up…Taylor (that scoundrel) likes milk with his steak!…Oh the horror….
Ratings news: According to Reuters:
“”Idol” won the time slot against tough competition from CBS’ “Survivor: Panama, ” ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” and NBC’s Winter Olympics coverage of figure skating, skiing and snowboarding events, but the special Thursday results edition of “Idol” didn’t fly as high as the regular Tuesday and Wednesday editions of the show.
“Idol” topped out at 23.1 million viewers and 9.8 rating/24 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research. In recent weeks, “Idol” in its regular time slots has topped the 30 million viewer mark. “Survivor” (14.9 million, 5.5/14) felt the heat of the extraordinary competition.”
Idol still won the time-slot Thursday, but was down by a significant number of ratings points compared to its regular Tuesday and Wednesday night shows.
