2021 CMA Awards: Jennifer Hudson, Gabby Barrett, Carrie Underwood Perform

(ABC) CHRIS STAPLETON, JENNIFER HUDSON

On Wednesday’s (Nov 10) CMA Awards, many of your favorite artists (and our singing show alums!) performed on stage.

Easily one of the spectacular performances of the night came from Jennifer Hudson, who paid tribute to Aretha Franklin in a medley of “Night Life” and “You are My Sunshine.” Chris Stapleton, who joined her on stage, added a soulful  country/rock element. Stapleton swept the awards, winning four, including Male Artist, Song, Single and Album.

Gabby Barrett performs “The Good Ones”

American Idol alums Gabby Barrett and her husband, Cade Foehner performed her hit “The Good Ones,” which she wrote for Cade. Gabby was nominated in four categories, but was shut out of them all, including Best Female (which went to Carly Pearce), Single, Song and Best New Artist (Which went to fellow American Idol alum and DWTS contestant, Jimmie Allen).

Carrie Underwood joined Jason Aldean to perform their hit duet “If I Didn’t Love You.” Poor Carrie is still making headlines after she “side eyed” host Luke Bryan’s vaccine “immunized” joke during his opening monologue.

Her husband, Mike Fisher, raised eyebrows earlier this week when he came out in support of Aaron Rodgers characterizing his vaccination status as “immunized,” thereby misleading the NFL and the public.

Blake Shelton performed his new song, another tune extolling the joys of being a poor dumb redneck. Just kidding!

Former American Idol judge and current The Voice Australia coach Keith Urban dedicated his song “Wild Hearts” to all the hopefuls who come to Nashville to follow their musical dreams. His wife, Nicole Kidman, cheered him on from the audience.
