2018 MTV Music Video Awards Complete Winners List

The MTV Video Music Awards aka the VMAs will air live from Radio City Music Hall tonight (Aug 20) across MTV’s global network of channels. The broadcast begins at 9 pm ET.

X Factor USA alum Camila Cabello is up for five awards including Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop and Best Choreography. Why Don’t We, the boyband that features American Idol alum Daniel Seavey is nominated for Push Artist of the Year.

Additionally, former American Idol judge and current judge of World of Dance, Jennifer Lopez, will receive the “Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.” She is also set to perform at this year’s show for the first time since 2001.

Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, Travis Scott, Post Malone, Panic at the Disco and Logic with Ryan Tedder will also take the stage to perform.

We’ll be tracking all the winners here.

A few highlights:

  • Cardi B opened the VMA’s with a Moon Man draped in a cloth held at her breast. *Insert Many Jokes Here*
  • After Tiffany Haddish joked that the rest of Fifth Harmony were at home watching Camila Cabello, Nicki Minaj joked while she was accepting her Best Hip Hop Award: “Tiff, don’t be coming for Fifth Harmony, because Normani is that bitch.”
  • WOOPS. Censor asleep at the wheel. While presenting Song of the Year, a Backstreet Boy, while fumbling with the card, let a sh*t slip. So did the person in charge of pushing the button.
  • Logic and Ryan Tedder staged an immigrant protest. Two dozen immigrant children and their parents joined the musicians on stage wearing shirts that said “We Are All Human” while the duo performed Logic’s new song “One Day.”
  • Jlo sang a big ass medley before accepting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Boyfrand Alex Rodriguez was in the audience. So was her mom and twin kids. They’re getting big.  She got all teary.
  • Madonna presented Video of the Year. But ahead of the announcement, she delivered a tribute to the late Aretha Franklin which involved a long-winded story about how knowing “Natural Woman” got her through a big audition.
  • CAMILA CABELLO WINS ARTIST OF THE YEAR! AND VIDEO OF THE YEAR. Congrats Girl.  She was all flummoxed and humbled accepting an award from the legendary Madonna.
  • The show ended with Post Malone doing whatever it is that he does. Then, inexplicably, Steven Tyler and Aerosmith appeared to sing “Dream On” and “Toys in The Attic” with Malone playing guitar and singing backup.  Well…why not? Gotta remind the kiddos that a few old farts are still hanging around.
