Season 8 Idol winner, Kris Allen, took part in the National Memorial Day parade in Washington DC today. He rode on a float and performed an acoustic version of his single. “The Vision of Love.”

Idol Headlines for 05/28/12

Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet, Hollie Cavanagh and Skylar Laine are in Orlando, FL this weekend. In past years, the winner would be there also, heading a parade ending with a performance a a visit to the American Idol Experience attraction at the park. With Phillip back in Los Angeles preparing for surgery this week, I’m not sure there will be any public events today, but I’ll keep you posted if I hear of anything.

Severe storm warnings in Washington DC cut short the PBS Memorial Day Concert, but at least Jessica Sanchez got to sing the National Anthem to open the concert. Unfortunately, the show was stopped before she could appear again.

Daughtry was the first musical act. The band’s hit “Home” was set against a backdrop of soldiers reuniting with their families.
